You are a magician! Amazing. I really like to watch you paint. I have a set of your brushes ordered. They are supposed to arrive tomorrow. I look forward to trying some of your techniques. Thank you for the video instruction. You make it look a whale of a lot easier that it really is.
Wow, I learnt so much. I always draw with my paintbrush. I'm definitely going to try this looser more lively technique. Thank you so much for explaining so patiently.
Wow! I thank you so much!
I like your sense of humour. And yes what a great idea to use water colours for a loose sketch rather than pencil. This was a great tutorial. You do make it look so easy...when we all know for beginners it's not!
This was wonderful. I am wanting to paint a picture of my sister and me and when I tried, the hair was horrible. This us just the tutorial I need. Thank you.
Great lifting technique illustrated. It is underrated as a superb technique in watercolor. Excellent example. Sometimes the phalos and quinacridone family are more difficult to fully lift even a partial lift of highly staining colors can create dramatic effects. Thanks again! I hope that those who desire to learn effective techniques and not just how to make palettes really learn what 3 colors can accomplish. But I would love 6:)
Almost all my life I thought, I am unable to paint. But then I bought some brushes, that were a little more expensive. And suddenly the brushes actually did what I wanted them to do. :-D
Great as always! I wet my brushes ( not your brushes, i bought it in a store) like you show in your video but your 1inch brush looks smoother. If i lift up it works not so nicely but it will be my lack technik i think. I think it needs a bit time to lern the right handling of the flat brush. Its an honor to paint with you! Thanks you Mr. Chen, thumb up👍
I am so happy to say I have found your channel and subscribed. I am very curious about your brushes and it is my first time hearing about using calligraphy brushes for watercolor paintings. I was wondering if there is a video where you explain these brushes more and why you prefer using them? Thank you for sharing your art.
Beautiful just beautiful. My art always get spoiled because of the hair, and idk how to fix it. Hopefully trying your process can help me ^^ love you very much.
Do you have experience with Fabriano Artistico paper? When I try to lift color like you do it creates a lot of blooming and hard edges. Should I switch to Arches? Thanks :-)
if it was all done on wet, it will be like that. If you did a glaze after, on top, that should be a lot more vivid. the wet work will look more dull. that's why the highlights are all done as as glaze at the end. Also, your paper may just be soaking up too much of the pigment and not allowing the pigment to sit on top. Light goes through the pigment, bounces off the white paper behind, then reflects the color back to they eye. but if it's soaked into the paper, it won't reflect so much.
I am doing what you recommend in the video by pressing two fingers to expel the water and compact the hairs but neither in the paletin nor in the calligraphy brush I get it, on the fine tip it is worse because when going to paint the hairs are separated and instead of a line are made three according to the hairs that are loose. I don't know if they'd get better over time, but at the moment I'm very disappointed in the purchase, I think I've thrown 34 euros in the trash. PInto better your videos with my Van Gogh brushes. I'm sorry to be so rough, but that's how I feel.
"You're silent, I take it that you agree with me" ahahaha, subscribed.
Incredible that hair can be more beautiful and expressive than a face.
This was fantastic to watch. I struggle doing hair. This made it seem much easier. Now to practice.
Great hair demonstration! For me hair is the hardest part of a portrait. I’ll try this method next time. Looks beautiful!
Stunning tutorial! You always make it seem more simple for beginners and hobbyists like me. Big thank you !

This is so so beautiful .. thank you so much
Very very nice. Thank you...).
Excellent video Mr. Chen! Thank you!
Thank you! I really need this video, thank you so much❤️🙏
Good tutorial. I m thinking the result is cleaner with primary colors, if you lift brown colors and their mixes, you ll get some smudges results.

Such talent! Do you stretch the 300gsm Arches paper?
Великолепно!!!!💯
Why is my watercolor so dull when dry?!! : (
Buy a better quality one
@@ThePopstar65 maybe , yes!

@@surveyguyor8958 okay! thank you : )
@@mreinstein48 I hope that helps. Other pro's may have a better answer, but that's what I've heard from great watercolor artists on RUclips also.
Nice work'! What colors in the plate ?
What brand are these brushes?
I'd like to purchase a few.
You can buy it from Mr. Chen directly- look at the discription. You can buy the calligraphy or the 1inch seperately, or both brushes in a set.
