      Would you do a video on two things;
      1. Trel in the Wax & Wayne.
      2. How you think the two worlds of Scadrial and Roshar will come to meet? Brandon has two more books in the timeline of Stormlight (5 in one timeline and 5 in the future).
      It is speculated that Wax & Wayne will find their way to other worlds. Maybe through Harmony.

    While I tend to agree that making Adolin a radiant is going to be difficult. I can't think of a more perfect way to become an Edgedancer than remembering the spren that has been forgotten. I also suspect this is going to be how you get around the problem that it typically has to be the person who broke the oath. If Adolin makes an oath specifically referring to her it might work.

    • @CapturedInWords

      That's true, it does seem like the perfect way to become an Edgedancer doesn't it? That could definitely be the loop hole that allows him to revive her. Ahhh I'm excited to see how things play out in book 4!

    One theory that I heard is that Taln was betrayed by some of the other Heralds. Some of the support was the death rattle that says something along the lines of "Bastards, you've killed me! While the sun is still hot I die!" We know that some of the rattles seem to come from Taln, such as the one about "the burdens of nine become mine. Why must I carry the madness of them all?" Additionally, it was noted that Taln tends to take on impossible challenges, sometimes dying sometimes not. If he was killed in the aftermath of one of these, it would not immediately be suspect. The theory holds that at least three of the Heralds, but certainly not all of them (as Kelek only arrives after the others have departed"), worked together to enact this plot. It would have needed Ishar, as he thought of the Oathpact and would have known whether or not only Taln's return to Braize would have held back future desolations. It is also thought that Jezrien was in on it, as he was king of the heralds. I believe that Nale could have been the third member as in Edgedancer he mentions being in contact with Ishar in order to prevent the return of desolations. I believe that, following the mad guidance of Ishar, Nale believed that Knights Radiant could take up the position the Heralds abandoned, potentially sending them to Braize where they could break in Taln's place. Thus, he became the enforcer of their plot.

    I really would like Adolin to keep being "normal" instead of becoming a radiant, but I think he will become one eventually

    • @jonathandoda8762
      @jonathandoda8762 4 года назад +4

      I think Sanderson will most likely make him a radiant. That said, he wouldn't do so at the expense of characterization. Characters are made interesting by how they deal with conflict. As said in this video, becoming radiant would sort of "solve all of Adolin's problems". So since the books have been foreshadowing the hell out of Adolin's eminent radiantification, what's the solution? Give him new conflicts. Maybe turn his radiance into a new problem. Maybe make the first ideal impossible for him to say. Maybe make new enemies impossible for him to deal with, while Kaladin and Shallan absolutely wreck them. Maybe make his radiance turn him into a total douche, then make Shallan leave him. There are endless ways an Sanderson could make him radiant, but still keep him interesting.

    • @crockettcast2702
      @crockettcast2702 4 года назад

      I would love for him to stay normal too, but it seems that Sanderson likes to add powers to his normal characters. Elend in Mistborn, David in the Reckoners. He then counters that by adding greater power to the opposing side, so their added power value actually only helps a little.

In Mistborn, they find a single bead. In reality there were 2 beads of that metal there, and the first was stolen before Vin and Elend arrived. I wont spoil the book entirely, but I'd really recommend reading that book if you enjoy the Mistborn series. Theres tons of context there and it gives a lot of hints as to how the different worlds in the Cosmere are connected.

  • @markodumencic8734
    @markodumencic8734 4 года назад +33

    THere has to be something going on with Kaladin and Syl. Notice how Syl was refered to as ancient daughter. There was an interaction between the sea captain on Honor's path and Kaladin in which the captain said Honor was setting up an heir and Syl is basically the only surviving spren that could become one. So my theory is, Syl will become Honor.

    • @thewhiskybowman
      @thewhiskybowman 4 года назад +19

      When they were talking about Honor setting up an heir I think hey were actually talking about him passing the mantle of creating honorspren onto the Stormfather. There is almost no chance Syl could become the next Honor as that appears to require a human taking up the power of a shard of Adonalsium. Like Dalinar seems to be on the path towards.

    @TheLordofLemons 4 года назад +15

    A theory I've been ranting about is over the voice that spoke to Dalinar at the end of Oathbringer and the seemingly sentient Nohadon in his last dream of the book. I'm convinced that this was either Nohadon or Tanavast, either of the two somehow living on as a cognitive shadow. Considering the former was a Bondsmith and the latter a Shardholder, albeit a shattered one, I think it's a possibility and will eat my boots if it turns out I'm wrong.

    • @fictionmyth
      @fictionmyth 4 года назад +2

      I think anyone who pairs with the Stormfather gets a sort of mental download that can be recalled later. We see Nohadon, Tanavast, and, maybe, Gavilar at the end of WoR. (During the dream he has where he mentions his wooden shardblade collection.) It's all but confirmed that Gavilar was bonding with the Stormfather, Nohadon, too. That's my guess at what's going on anyway. I mean, it could also be that the way Bondsmith's "Spiritual Adhesion" works is that it gives them a conduit to the Spiritual Realm that allows for a bit of cross-talk across the boundary of death. It could also work in a similar way to something mentioned in Mistborn: Secret History and soul expansion.

    • @Orengelable
      @Orengelable 4 года назад

      @@fictionmyth That's a very interesting interpretation, I always thought that it was some sort of Adonalsium cognitive shadow influencing and guiding the characters. As they always talk about god beeing dead, but there is actually a god that no one knows about, but has very little power. I take that from the feeling of warmth that Dalinar feels in his vision when he first arrives in Urithiru

    If Casitor* was one of the unmade it would explain why Iri and Rira were so quick to side with Odium. Sure they blame it on Adolin’s shards but that seems like a justification for a culture pre conditioned to accept Odium’s power. The thrill resided in Alethkar and it fell. Molelock* resided in Kharbranth which also fell. There’s a pattern.

    One theory of my own is that each order of radiants also has a "hidden" power that they dont share with their sibling orders, like when kaladin seemed to summon windspren around him to counteract the winds of a high storm, or dalinar merging the three realms with gloryspren, forming honor's perpendicularity, and I dont know if this is one of those instances or not, but shallan was able to make solid illusions, not just light, but making matter move on the battle against odium

    I definitely love how big the world of roshar is, but it’s kind of difficult seeing kaladin as the main character anymore to me because of this. I’ve grown to love dalinar, I liked shallan until the end of Oathbringer, and I kind of like adolin. One thing that is annoying about this is that Kaladin is intentionally being held back so that other characters can catch up, but it’s gotten to the point that he’s kind of in the dust of everybody else developmentally. Shallan apparently now has control of her identities, dalinar is basically honor at this point, adolin is quickly learning to be himself, even the others of bridge four like Teft are outpacing kaladin developmentally now. I just hate how he feels kind of dead in the water right now compared to quite literally every main cast character and most side cast characters. I hope Rhythm of War really gives him a big conflict upfront that will have a good progression potentially leading into book 5.

      Kinda agree. Teft caught up to Kaladin so quickly ... It's also a bit unfair that Kaladin have to figure out the ideals while the rest of the windrunners simply know what to say. Kaladin has to at least learn the fourth ideal pretty early in the book, otherwise, he will no longer be the main character for much longer (in terms of power scaling)

    • @ihavenoname8628
      @ihavenoname8628 4 года назад

      Leonardo Fonseca amen to that. I think Brandon realized that he paced Kaladin a little too fast so he relied heavily on his depression as a way to slow him down. I’d even argue that he’s already been surpassed by Shallan, Dalinar, and Jasnah. Shallan summoned a whole frickin army, Dalinar is apparently Honor, and Jasnah may possibly have her own Shardplate.

      @@ihavenoname8628 Kaladin's powers are kinda meh compared to the others. Unless he can lift freaking mountain or something like that, just flying around isnt much.Shallan, Dalinar and Jasnah have god like powers. I hope Sanderson will give some extra twist to boost the Windrunners's abilities somehow

    • @ihavenoname8628

      Leonardo Fonseca I kinda hope he gets a boost in his abilities, but I’m not a big fan of the idea of him being about to lift full on boulders or something. I can honestly see one of two things: 1. He becomes an incredible support character, being able to lift whole armies of people and can bestow stormlight flying abilities for a ridiculous amount of time. Or 2. He can distantly lift people up now and can also lash double the speed.

    Adolin is definitely going to become an Edgedancer, but he will fight it, denying his own worthiness, every step of the way until he finally has to acknowledge that he has been living all four oaths at once. I don't know what the last two oaths are, but the best example of remembering those forgotten would be his mother, and listening to those ignored would be his brother.
    My favorite theory is that the only way for them to defeat Odium is to lose the battle of champions. Dalinar will need to swear the 4th order-specific oath, and this will allow him to bind oaths to the spirit world, creating new heralds. His champion, probably Kaladin, will be struck down and go to Braize where he will block the fused from coming back to life. So he'll die and join Talenelat, preparing himself for eternal torture. Only difference will be the men and women who died while following Kaladin will join him there. When he sees all the people he thought he failed (including his little brother) ready to follow him even in death, he'll get over his grumpiness and melancholy. He will chose to lead them in battle with the fused, unwilling to allow any of his followers to be tortured. This will offer an afterlife very similar to the one his mother believed in.

    Everytime I drive through traffic on I-70 (it’s the highway in Colorado that goes East-West through Denver and the Rocky Mountains) my road rage inevitably devolves to just muttering “airsick lowlanders” while glaring at other drivers
    Edit: also as for Adolin reviving Maya, I think it’s totally plausible. I just recently read Arcanum Unbounded, and I think Sanderson is planning on doing more with the Cognitive and Spiritual Realms with Roshar and Stormlight. Considering that spren are manifestations of thought powered by the Shards on Roshar, I don’t think they can truly die. Thus the deadeyes. I’m curious to see how Maya is different from other spren, especially how bonding would work but I do think Adolin is going to bond her, and give her new life through new oaths. Whatever happens I think Sanderson is going to have some awesome and game-changing plot and character development in book 4. Can’t wait to read.

    Can you make a video on your opinions of Hoid's end goal? He is very clearly collecting investitures from different worlds, but to what end? When offered power during the event of Adolnasium, he refused it. Did he change his mind? Was the shard of power offered to him not enough, because he wanted all of it?

    • @CapturedInWords
      @CapturedInWords  4 года назад +1

      I'll definitely be making a video on this at some point! Hoid's end goal is one of the Cosmere things I am the most interested in learning about, especially after what he said to Dalinar: "And while I am your friend, please understand that our goals do not completely align. You must not trust yourself with me. If I have to watch this world crumble and burn to get what I need, I will do so. With tears, yes, but I would let it happen."
      Also back in WoK he says something along the lines of, "I wonder, if you split a man into his different emotions, then stuck him back together, would he still be the same?" so I wonder if his goal is to try and put Adonalsium back together, or perhaps merge himself with the reconstructed Adonalsium 🤔 I'll have to make a video on this sometime in the next few months

    Okay, so flaws in theory number 2.
    The Stormfather, Nightwatcher, and the Sibling existed before Honor and Cultivation came to Roshar. The Stormfather and Nightwatcher became Splinters of their associated Shards AFTER Honor died. These three spren probably represent the three aspects mentioned in the Eila Stele: Wind (Stormfather), Stone (The Sibling), and Spren (The Nightwatcher). They were involved with the Bondsmiths before Honor was Splintered and the Stormfather became his Cognitive Shadow. We don't know enough about the Nightwatcher to say when this happened to her yet.

    I have a constant struggle of choosing whether to support Radiant! Adolin or not. Adolin is a very layered character and they’re being peiled off book after book. Seeing a normal character next to super powered people is very interesting.
    But I’m leaning towards wanting Adolin to become a Radiant because the story of dead spren becoming alive sounds more interesting to me than what his story is now (even if his story rn is also interesting and Adolin is my favorite character). Adolin as a Radiant could be one of the most badass characters in the Cosmere, he fits the ideals of an Edgedancer.
    (he also fits the description of a Stoneward though, so we’ll see).

Ialai is frequently described as scheming, and she disappears right after the battle at Thaylen City. Shallan cites her leaving indisgrace, but maybe it was because Odium called.

    First of all very nice video.
    I like your theory about Urithiru and the possibility of having Shallan going into Shadesmar to "check" on the Spren there. But I think she will need help to "reboot" the tower and that could very well be Dalinar. He's learned how to unite the 3 realms and him and Shallan has so far been - I believe - the only 2 radiants combining powers. Might that also have been one of the many foreshadowing moments Sanderson love to tease us with?
    About the dawnshards also, might Azure's sword be one of them?

    • @CapturedInWords
      @CapturedInWords  4 года назад

      That's a really good idea, I could definitely see Dalinar & Shallan combining powers to awaken the tower! And Sanderson definitely loves his foreshadowing so I could see him doing that.
      I believe Azure has an awakened sword like Nightblood, though if it was a dawnshard that would be super interesting!

He's kind of assumed the role of Kaladin with the spren, so I think he's going to be a really good villain! I'm really curious about Adolin's story too. The most popular theory is that Shardplate is formed from a Radiant's "secondary Spren" Windspren for Windrunners, Logicspren for Elsecallers, Creationspren for Lightweavers, ect. The idea is that as Kaladin gets closer to the fourth Ideal, he'll be able to do more and more stuff with Windspren. This theory could be backed up by Mr. Sanderson himself saying in a livestream "... But nobody know were Shardplate comes from, except for must of the Cosmere nuts, they've basically got it figured out" (paraphrased).

    I agree with most of them. You missed a thing though, Aimia's capital Akinah has an Oathgate Jasnah confirms that it had been destroyed long ago, but how can it be destroyed? I think there is a perpedicularity there, which will enable humans to go back to their original planet to retrieve the Dawnshards. She mentions it in one of the meetings then.

    I think that there were originally 10 Dawnshards, and each could use only one of the 10 Surges in a *major* way. I also believe that there is now only one left, and it is in Aimia. I think it's something like Bondsmith machine, using spiritual Adhesion to do big stuff. The other 9 were corrupted by Odium, which accomplished two things. One, he was able to bind those Surges to the Fused. This explains why there are only 9 Orders of Fused. Second, each of those Dawnshards, when corrupted, was turned into one of the Unmade. And that is why there are 9 of those.

    I don't think it will be in Rhythm of War but I highly suspect that we will see either Vasher (Zahel) and/or Vivina (Azur) will travel to the Alethi Crypts to turn the dead light-eye-statues into lifeless. If you've read Warbreaker you'll know that Vasher has previously created an army of living statues using breath, an army that was nearly unstoppable, and the way the Alethi preserve their dead light-eyes by soulcasting them into statues is just too perfect for Brandon not to use that.
