- Take a closer look at this incredible eye-catching mid-century design from Bluebird. This one time rival to the Sprite Musketeer was produced from 1960-1963, and I believe this one to be the last survivor on the road in the UK.
Hope you enjoy!
Happy Caravanning,
Cameron.

I never was interested in caravans, but this makes me want an old Caravan now
Okay, watching vintage caravan videos becomes my 2021 guilty pleasure. Caravaning/ camping is nothing i ever learned to enjoy but you present those vintage spaceships with so much passion it drags me along. Great video 🐚🚐🏕
Thanks for the lovely compliment! I've long enjoyed caravanning but the vintage ones just make it that extra bit special for me. Even with no mod cons, they're just more pleasant and cosy places to be on a wet bank holiday weekend in August haha
My family had a 1961 Dauphine back in Germany, two tone white/blue. The door was on the right side and there was this "Murphy" bed in the back that folded down over the small bench. My job as an 8-year old was to operate the crank for the stabilizers. My dad was in love with the panoramic window, especially if you had a front-row spot on the lake.
The corrugated panelling on the outside reminds me of old Citroën H vans.
I have absolutely no interest in caravans whatsoever BUT i do love this channel and am enjoying watching Cameron and appreciating his obvious passion for them. Picked it up off IDAC
I love the blue!!!! What a panoramic view too 😊 Karina
The panoramic view is my favourite bit, it’s so unusual to find in a caravan
Wow fab caravan! As ever thanks for sharing the research you have done into the bluebird (well all your videos) is fascinating!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
Beautiful, thank you again for the interesting history and loved seeing it❤x
love the video love the blue suit
I have the toy version :) Great to see the full scale version!
If you plant it, keep watering it, it may grow into the real thing 🤪
Great video Cameron! What a lovely little caravan! Mum and dad's static had the wardrobe doors that opened out to give privacy and the bed pulled down (Murphy) loads of room when it was pulled up! Love the old footage from the 60's, see you in the next one! xxx
Very interesting video. Especially enjoyed the vintage footage, particularly the manufacturing clip...quite the bee hive of activity. I imagine seeing a porch with wrought iron railings in front of you on the motorway made keeping your distance the prudent course. Loved the Blue Bird upholstery and am going to the bad place because I covet your killer suit.
What a very pretty caravan. Lovely.
Fantastic video for a Sunday morning, so relaxing. Really enjoying your channel, as are my friends too.
What a beautiful caravan, and u look the part in that awesome suit, nice to see there are people still willing to make an effort to look smart mate, well done 👍
Loving these videos!
Fabulous lines and the furniture material looking good too! Great to learn the history of this van! I like a man who knows his stuff! I pray you have a successful business! 👌👌👌🌹🌹🌹Pete
Thanks so much Pete, I think the history is quite fascinating. I tried to keep it to under three minutes so people didn’t get bored of me waffling on about the history 😂 I used to have a Bluebird Cambrian and was amazed to find out it’s history when I researched it
@@NotAnotherWhiteBox not waffling at all!! Great info. We all sit and wait for the next, 😃😃😃
That is a very nice looking caravan even if some don’t think like the Color tone with the blue and I am presuming cream, and look at that interior a classic but still looking strong and by the looks of it it’s in great condition. Nice to see these still around 😌
I think the colour is very bold but it suits it well and makes the caravan look striking. It certainly looks smart!
GOSH! I remember having such a model .
As always, Cameron, a very interesting and informative video. Well done indeed. These vintage caravans are surely very different from modern offerings. They have a charm and genuine feeling about them. Some day I will get one.
Thanks Michael for your support as always. The Bluebird certainly is charming and a lovely cosy place to be
Enjoyed the video. Hope you show a Safari sometime, I always wanted one.
What a beautiful looking caravan.
Wasn't there also a Renault Dauphine at one time ?
Cameron, why is it considered a bonkers caravan? ( a sincere question)I think its a wonderful model of what i consider the shape of a proper caravan .
I am loving your channel, how many vintage caravans do you have and where do you store them? Do you have a video of all you have in your collection? I’ve looked and looked for a US channel like this, so I could find something I could actually purchase, but can’t find anything close. Also, the style of video is extremely different and I really prefer your videos and commentary. You’re much classier than anyone here in the US, but that’s not a surprise!
Great video, very interesting. I have one of those Matchbox versions too, closest I'll come to the real thing!
Please keep them coming!
Cameron, fridge, bathroom? Storage under seats? Ty, T.lo
Interesting, but I can understand why Sprite was more successful with their Musketeer. I don't remember seeing many of these Bluebirds on the road in the 60s.
Please not a pink interior, I do remember this in a caravan owned by a friend's family. I thought it was awful then.
My parents had a late 50s Cresta 16 footer which they used as a static on the Yorkshire coast.
Yes it's been great to experience both to realise why the Bluebird wasn't as successful. The Musketeer is superior in just about every way. I had a pink interior in a 1963 Fairholme but it was something like "rose white" and it was really pleasant.
@@NotAnotherWhiteBox I've just had a look at an old copy of Modern Caravan ( August 1962) and 2 versions of the Dauphine are listed. The standard caravan, weight 13.5cwt, price £289 10s, and a Continental version, weight 15.5cwt at the same price. The two versions of the Musketeer were priced at £315.
Friends of my parents had one of these, they bought it new. I remember thinking, 'What a load of rubbish'. 🙄
