Tribes from the north entered the empire, and they had to give them land to settle. Everything was chaotic, people in some areas wanted their own piece of the pie, there was corruption, the huns invaded europe, and in the end, a german leader, Odoaker, took over rome, and the empire collapsed. Because the empire didn't have a real identity, because they didn't feel united, nobody cared and tried to help the emperor. They just did their own thing. Still, the eastern roman empire kind of continued with the byzantine empire for another ~1.000 years, the mid 14 hundreds, but they lost a lot of their territory before. It had the most territory around the 6th century, where it included countries like Greece and Croatia, but also Turkey, Syria, Egypt and even parts of Spain and Italy. Around the year 1.000, it also was very powerful, but without territory in northern Africa. It later got destroyed by Islam, and also one of the many reasons, why it became weak, was, they had too many cultural differences in their empire. Also we Germans had this problem. For a long time, Germany was split into a few larger countries, and hundreds of tiny countries, sometimes just a town. It needed multiple steps, and a cultural identity as Germans, to unite Germany. That didn't exist for a long time. We even didn't have a single form of German, all people can understand. We still have hundreds of smaller dialects, and you can travel a few kilometers, and people will talk differently, and will have different traditions. Goethe was important to create the German language most of us speak right now, and also the French, as enemy, helped to unite the Germans. Now Germany is kind of stable, even if a lot of us are embarassed by Saarland, most of us don't like Saxonians and their language, Bavaria is special, has a special status, and sometimes it would like to be an own country, and Franconia, where I am, is to Bavaria, what Bavaria is to Germany. Bavaria had to pay a lot of money to other parts of Germany, to "help", because the other parts were underdeveloped, compared to Bavaria, and Franconia is the most important, the best part of Bavaria, not Muinch. So there are differences here in Germany, but our cultural identity is enough to stay united. But for many, large empires, the main reason for collapse was not a single war, it was a slow downfall, a slow decay, because there were too many cultures in one single country, and they lost their cultural identity 🤷♂️

It's just too funny. Who even cares if he's real or not? The things he's providing a commentary about are still very much real, and he's still hilarious. That being said, he's just so absurd and so clearly over the top, to me there's no way he isn't playing a character. Look at his smirk during that interview. He knows exactly what he's doing.
