Repairing a Makita HR2811F SDS Drill that runs but won't rotate.

This problem generally happens when the operator keeps changing mode while the motor is still rotating.
This causes the lock gear to round over and create a burr. This burr then stops the gear sliding on the shaft and prevents it from going into hammer mode.
All that is needed is to remove the burr or replace the gear. The hard part is getting to it, as the whole drill needs to be opened up.

Brilliant. My HR2811FT had just loosened up its gearbox from the engine. 2-3 mm cap there. Naturally some the grease had spilled around… If I only found out what best suited for the lubrication. I’d refill the gears.
