- In this video we unbox and explore the Hyperkin Supa Retron HD 16-bit Super Nintendo and Super Famicom Clone System.

Hyperkin has been making clone systems for quite some time, dating back to the original Retron1, through to the Retron5, Supa Boy and Supa Retron. Much like other manufacturers Hyperkin has updated their Supa Retron to include an HDMI output and 720P video. This should be a better system than before, at least in-terms of audio and video quality.
From the box, which Amazon delayed several times, the Supa Retron HD includes everything you'll need to play your favorite 16-bit Nintendo cartridges. Two controllers are included right off the bat, making it easy for 2-player action from the get-go. Power is provided by a Micro USB cable (THANK YOU!!!) and a 5v/1A output included power supply. To connect to your TV both an HDMI and AV cables are included. The parts and accessories are Hyperkin's typical quality.
The system does have some heft to it. While smaller than the original systems it seeks to replicate id doesn't feel light, cheap or insignificant. The console itself combines the purple from the SNES with the Power/Eject/Reset configuration from the Super Famicom. I think a lot of people are going to love this feature as the Super Famicom is generally considered to be the more attractive of the two consoles.
If playing imports are your thing the Supa Retron HD does feature an NTSC/PAL switch to toggle between the two for you. Cartridge-wise SNES and Super Famicom games fit, although the fit on the "Pin Perfect" connector is more than a little tight. I tested SNES, SFC, Retro-bit Multi-Carts and a Super Game Boy and, while Joe & Mac was a bit of challenge to connect, they all fit well.
At $69.99 the Supa Retron HD needs to perform to topple the Gamerz Tek 16-bit HD as my HDMI SNES Clone of choice as it is $20 more expensive. For comparison the Retro-bit Super Retro Trio +, which plays NES, SNES & Genesis games, can be had for only $10, and that system plays 2 additional consoles' games!

+NES ADDICT I was going to stream tonight myself but wound up editing a video instead
Got One On Sale For $50 And It's Awesome!!
It's Been 2months And It's Great!! 😊👍🎮
That's great! I think it needs to be sub $50 personally, looking at what other multi systems offer for the same or less.
+RoXolid Productions Definitely 😊👍🎮
Looks sweet. Hope the audio and picture quality lives up.
+Real time I agree, I was very disappointed in the RetronHD audio and the poor pallet
Ordered mine today. Will be here Tuesday 😁😁😁😁
I hope you like it
@@RoXolid thanks, I enjoy the SupaBoy BlackGold.
This is pretty similar in terms of performance
Hi, very interesting review, i like it.
I think retron console has very nice design. Looks like super famicom, which is a cool design. Greetings
I think that's what they were going for, which is a good thing. Thanks for watching!
Neat console😊I like the eject feature😎,I wish my Atgames console had that😔Great review as always Gary😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
+Gio048 Thanks much!
Do the carts insert and eject without hangup? I want this system but I'm a little apprehensive after the pins in the SNES port of my Retron 5 so bent out of shape, it won't load games anymore! Great video!
There pins seem better than the Retron 5 to me, they definitely feel better
did you do this for the retron hd?
+NES ADDICT I did an unboxing, a review & comparison between the RetronHD & the Gamerz Tek 8-bit HD.
Sounds more like a toaster ! LOL !
I need to check this machine....
if you go to Germany, try to find a copy of Terranigma (PAL).
I know that USA didn't get a release of this game.. contrary to Europe (well, it's really THE exception.. We didn't get many Japanese RPGs as USA )
There's a store I've found, 2nd-reality.de/, that's about 15 minutes from where I'll be that I plan on stopping off at.Who know what I'll find?
Terranigma? Looks like an RPG which, unfortunately, I am not a fan of the genre.
I preordered mine from GameStop and now they are saying not available till 2/28 this sucks so I'm going to cancel my order and go with Amazon with my prime
+Frank Buckner If you order thru Amazon I have a link in the more info section. Doesn't cost you anything and actually helps the channel if you use it.
Can I use the game genie on it?
+Gerald Longmire You know, I don't know. I actually don't own one but let me see if I can get my hands on one for the review.
Ok
Head over to facebook.com/LAG217/ and make sure you give Adrian a thanks, he's got one I'll be picking up later tonight!
If possible please also test the Genesis to SNES, and NES to SNES adapters.
+CHIPJVELOZ Those use their own AV outputs but the system should provide the power for it. The video, however, will be standard craptastic AV
I never was a fan of the snes. Two consoles I owned and remain loyal to the atari 2600 and the nes. For that I got the retron 77 and retron hd even tho I might switch to the avs some time later.
Oh, the SNES is an amazing console with perhaps the best library of games.
No help I wanted to see how to hook it up to tv
It's just an HDMI cable, nothing to hooking it up.
