Where I live in Germany it is law to have every horse insured and the insurance would pay for this. This injury is really serious and is going to cost thousands, especially that he is being transported in an animal ambulance. I am praying so hard for him and hope this situation gets sorted out quick.
What is the point of the neighbors having those horses? They don’t take care of them a they don’t love on them. Yes horses can live wild but with free range of land. Not stuck in a 5 acre (or whatever the size is) pasture. They have two stallions with only one mare that is related to both of them. So irresponsible and those horses should be taken away from them. might need to get the neighbor to pay to fix your fences, and pay Voo's bills because it was a result of his animals breaking next door... maybe even convince them to let you have the horses.. so they can be socialized and not continue to be a huge issue for your farm.

Those are the dangers of a T-post (3 metal points), that is one reason my wife and I used to cap them off with tennis balls (a single T slit in T-ball & cap it over the metal T-Post). We did that with our pasture cross fencing, dry paddock, and small enclosures (weaning pastures). I believe they have plastic and rubber caps that you can buy separately these days. We eventually changed out these fencing with 2" piping for the top runners, and 1/2" cable strands between our metal and treated wooden posts (piece milled due to cost and material). We keep you all in our prayers, and will be praying for Voodo's quick recovery. Thank you, Jami and Lester for keeping us informed. Edit; Since they deal with a lot of floods, they might do just as well with Rhino coating, dip dry, dip once more and let it dry. That Rhino coating will save a truck bed from wear & tear, because it forms into a rubber like matting. Sorry for the long-winded replies.

Voodoo is a warrior horse. He stepped up. He did his job in protecting the herd. An absolute gentleman. Luck was on his side when he missed the artery. Thank God that Dr Cochran was able to come. She lives these animals as much as we do. My prayers for our hero warrior, VooDoo for healing, for the Vets at A&M and for Jami and Lester. Please keep us updated.

Don't forget that Voodoo lived with a couple off the longhorn for a long time....I bet santiana, Pearl, Gracie and I think even Jolene, and Charlene know the horses long enough to care for him.
