  • I got the car knowing much about bmw n55 engines. later found I had a cracked charge pipe, fixed that. then later found I had a vacuum leak from the inlet pipe being cracked, fixed that. when I upgraded the intercooler I didn't pay attention to the o-ring orientation, fixed that. now the car is running better then ever. now we can finish with mods like flash tuning the tranny(xhp) and flashing the ecu(mhd or bootmod3)

      Yeah man it's getting there slowly but surely, Hopefully we both get some daily driver to make these cars Monsters on the streets/tracks

    The gap in the throttle body is like that by design. It's to allow for heat expansion. The stock one is plastic so it's more malleable and does not require any slack.

      I contacted evolution racewerks about that and they said the same as you. Thanks for replying

    That gap between charge pipe and throttle is supposed to be there according to the ER

    On the o-ring orientation, how did you figure out you had a boost leak. Any indicators (noise, power loss?)

    Hey man I got a 535i drive fbo on mhd stage 2+, I seem to have the same problem you had, low boost, g plus intercooler, my logs show wgdc over 85% and a lot of the time at 100% on pulls. Was your problem
    Just the intercooler o rings placed backwards ? I’d appreciate any input

    • @jonburnquist
      @jonburnquist  4 года назад

      What's up, well first I'm not sure if the we are running the same about of boost which your stage 2+ could be running a higher boost level and possibly maxing out your turbo, I know generally we have the same engine but the tune could be different. But I believe my orings played a role in a partial boost leak but later found that the stock deverter valve was the main issue, stock deverter valves leak when pushing higher boost levels. When I change mine out with the gfb deverter valve the logs showed the wgdc was lower and boost didnt drop off at higher rpm.

      jbo_435i thanks for the info brother ! I will try to upgrade the diverter valve I am upgrading all piping from charge pipe to turbo on the other side including the coupler from charge pipe to intercooler. Hopefully that will do it. By the way if I’m not wrong my tune should run 18 to 19 psi, depending on fuel, maybe even more, the n55 engine should be able to handle 22 to 23 I got a couple guys I know here running close to 23. Thank you for the info man !!!! Keep it up awesome videos !!!!

      @@brunaobasket wow that pretty good, definitely higher than mine. I'm only running 17psi on map7 on jb4. I'll get a back end flash soon to raise it up but I wanted to do some maintenance first. I'm actually going to make some video on maintenance jobs like tranny service, spark plugs , oil change and brakes. But that wgdc might be accurate because I'm around 80 to 90% when pushing 17psi and I have both cp upgraded. It's never ending trying to find boost leaks lol

      jbo_435i dude tell Me about lol, my car is pretty heavy too so I need a little more power, and same thing here I need to make sure all Maintenance is good before more upgrades !! Good luck with the new mods !! I’ll keep an eye on the channel !!’

    Is bootmod3 better then jb4?

    • @jonburnquist
      @jonburnquist  4 года назад

      Personally I like the jb4 tune better just for the fact that it has the capability to go as far as you want to take the car while having safety parameters.

    Did the leak ever throw codes or throw it into limp home mode?

    • @jonburnquist
      @jonburnquist  5 лет назад +1

      No because it still made power but I could just tell something wasnt right and also looking at logs

      My 2012 135i n55 is throwing codes! If I boost over 5lbs it cuts out for a second and then goes into limp home mode! Codes are 2774,2bda,2c57,2c90 and 3106. Any help would be much appreciated!! I have replaced fuel rail sensor and I am running the JB4!

      @@chriswhite3026 well first thing i would do is see if it happens when jb4 is disconnected completely

    • @chriswhite3026
      @chriswhite3026 5 лет назад +1

      jbo_435i that’s what I did to reset the codes, so far everything has been great I even did a few 40-100 runs and I’m almost code free! I still get the po420 code😔 from downpipes, I thought the JB4 was supposed to take care of that but it hasn’t 🤔

    • @jonburnquist
      @jonburnquist  5 лет назад

      @@chriswhite3026 ok, so you got rid of the codes by taking out the jb4? And now you installed it again and everything is good? Jb4 can clear the downpipe codes but it's not going to eliminate it, its going to come back every 20 miles or so
