When we started doing doing 30 sec drawings, I gave up on the second and just watched you draw 😅. But seriously, this video has been helpful for me and alot of other people as shown in the comments, I've learnt that gesture drawing isn't about precision, it's about learning how the body works. It's interesting how looseness is what makes the drawing. I keep seeing people say its the way you hold the pencil but I feel like that is very wrong. I have a very small space making drawing with my entire arm very hard and almost impossible but after watching this video it shows that looseness is the key to making good gestures overall. bravo!

It's to get practice drawing human figures in various dynamic positions, and also sometimes for creating a layout sketch to figure out composition before either adding details or using it to plan a larger piece of art. Quick figure drawings like this are a really nice exercise for learning how to portray a recognizable figure with very little time and few details.

@@nikitanikita6155 Yes I do! There are websites that have poses for reference (like quickposes.com) and sometimes I will spend like 20 minutes just filling up a page of my sketchbook with drawings. I spend about 2 minutes on each one. I like it because there is no pressure to try to create perfect, finished pieces, so it is almost like a meditation for me. I am not a great artist by all means, but when I feel like I want to make some art but have no inspiration I will do figure drawings. Of course this might not be very fun for you, but it is a common exercise that many people do, and the point of it is that it is supposed to be very fast and roughly sketched so it doesn't take up too much of your day.

@@empirebuckler9938 Don't know, it's really difficult for me to draw anything without having a story. For my inspiration I usually research and come up some ideas and draw only whats needed for that concept. Does this figure drawing practice improve your drawing from imagination in some way? And do you develop these sketches or just leave them?

I feel like all the tutorials I watch are useless for me I cannot apply it, I struggle drawing faces even I focused a lot in it during 6 y.

Well sorry to hear you feel that way but know that almost all artists feel that way about their work at some point. I would recommend looking at the growth you have had from a few years ago and hopefully you can find encouragement in that.

These seem to have a lot of details for a gesture drawing. More like a figure sketch instead of a gesture drawing .

Yeah it kind of is.I agree. Maybe it's just the way I do it. More of a structure for a more complete drawing.
