Every state has it's beauty but Washington State is uncommonly gorgeous
loved withrup, looks so inviting
you are truly in God's country now. Lived in Sedro Woolley for 19 years and it was so quiet and peaceful!!!!!! Good travels!!!!!
I was born there 76 years ago!
Lived in skagit county 14yrs and methow valley for 6 yrs
America the Beautiful. God Bless America
I grew up in Twisp/Winthrop in the 80s. Funny how its so different now. Yet still so familiar and the same. Not been back there in 10 years, but might go next summer to see the fire damage
Couger, bear, elk, and rattley-snakes....
YES, PLEASE.
LOVE the north of town...up the chewuch river....
Having grown up in the Pacific Northwest I am reminded to not take this all for granted. My sister hosted visiting South Koreans and they were blown away at the miles and miles of forest land. But she was startled to hear them say "Not enough people"! We like it that way! Thanks for sharing the North Cascades. It's been a while since I took that route to visit family.
That Kodak moment of the mountain, on the 1 to 10 scale? That was an 11!!!!!!
That green grass is lovely, until you have to mow it every four days. 😂
Bike riding grandma here again. Yes we rode across this pass, Washington Pass, and had about three more days of riding before we finished our. coast to coast bike trip. The scenery gets even better farther up.
I get so jealous some times watching your videos. What a beautiful ride thru that entire area. I do appreciate how you describe your routes. I follow you all the time with google maps. Lots of fun an a lot more interesting than just watching a video. Thank you for taking the time to do that for us.
I’m curious how you follow him on Google maps. Do you just trace his route?
You’re a mountain junkie just like me! Everytime u said gotta stop I was saying, stop and get a closer look!!!
Never been to these neck of the woods...lived in Colorado mountains but every mountain junkie must see them all, eh??!! Thx for the view till I can get there myself! Great footage!
The opening ceremony of this Highway is a hoot! Cinnamon rolls and coffee for everyone!!
The contrast of the Green Trees, white clouds and Blue sky with the Gray mountains are just really something!
Your in my backyard russ,we ride motorcycles to winthrop for lunch
A few Winter trips to Winthrop for X/C skiing and snow-shoeing and its beautful/friendly. I need to explore the area during the Summer. The North Cascades are just stunning!!
We've made that North Cascade trip many times, most fun in the late 80s on a touring motorcycle. While technically they're all pines, they're different genus. What you're seeing are mostly Douglas Fir, Cedar, Western hemlock (the WA State tree), and a few Spruce.
So glad you are enjoying my part of the world. Yes Washington state is a beautiful state, no matter what road you take there will be something to beautiful to see 😊.
Beautiful scenery. Enjoy your videos, the narration is just enough and adds to the footage. Tks
When you said WOW that’s what you get in the mountains of Washington State. Glad you enjoyed.
"It's chilly, in the 50s. I had to put my jacket on."
HAHAHAHA! 50s is fair weather to us washingtonians! Especially in the winter.
What a "Picture Perfect" ending! Your videography amazes me Russ! Thank you so much for sharing your travels and adventures with us! AWESOME!!
Love, Love, Love... Mountains, the Sky nature is so beautiful. Happy Journey!
Russ, when you said, “Let me swap out the camera” and used your cell camera instead, you had a much sharper/crisper picture, imo. Hubby and I really enjoyed the ride...beautiful scenery. Thanks for taking us along.👍🏻
Wow the Kodak moments WOW! We hit the jackpot on awesome bridges, views and cute towns. Thank you. 👍💞
Anyone recognize the instrumental tune playing in the background, it is very lovely. Wonderful jaunt, the cloud effect over the Cascades is amazing.
I've been trying to figure out the background music as well. Nobody seems to know...
His description say it's from the RUclips Audio library. It couldn't be too hard to find.
❤🧡💛💚💙💜
I've lived in globally important cities most of my life across the world. Beleive it or not, I have family in Twisp. Its beautiful and not trashy. Its small co ops and serene untouched scenery in the middle of nowhere and few will ever experience. With the grapes, the high desert coniferous, old west haunts and mostly untouched, it really is a gem. I hope people don't start finding it with the influx of tech from around the world! To most of these people, they don't live here for the money. Call it low level elitism if you want but it preserves whats left. Eastern Washington Idaho, bc, Montana and much of the west coast really does remain untouched. The cities only started yo spring up not much over a century ago. If you want yo dissappear forever, nobody will find you. This remains the wild west if you have yhe skills of yesteryear. Nobody is doing face recognition at an Arco on the side of a two land highway. I noticed spell check is making my comment sound weird and negative words and symbols haha but I'm not going to try and fix it anymore. Its cool untouched area still.
I couldn't have enjoyed this video anymore than I did. I saw bunches of Kodak moments. Beautiful drive. TY. Be safe. 😊👍
This one has some awesome scenery. Good route. Love your chatter and since I am in the front seat with you, I reply.
Truly beautiful country. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy the cool weather. Be Safe!
🙋♀️ Hello Russ! What a beautiful day this was! 👍
I think your timing is perfect going up through this route Russ, awesome drive and thanks again for the tour!!
I was there about a month after you were. Stayed in the Hotel Rio Vista which was on the left after you crossed the bridge. Went to the schoolhouse brewery that night and had an IPA and a reuben right by the Water and then went back to the hotel and wrapped up in a big blanket on the back porch to look at the stars by the river. The Cascades look pretty anytime but when they are snow covered they are unmatched. One of my favorite places in the world.
Absolutely beautiful! The cascade mountain range is some of the most beautiful scenery that you can get.
Another awesome segment of the virtual tour. Can’t wait for the first glimpse of the Pacific 😊
THANKS
Those rocky bluffs at the end of video are called early winter spires. I have climbed them a few times. Awesome views from top
I gotta go there one of these days !!
It's a nice place just don't get to excited it's kind of ruins the summer a bit BUT still it's a great place but experience :/
This drive is the prettiest in late September to mid October. 🍁
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL SCENERY. Thanks for taking this drive through the mountains. I really appreciate the ride. It is scenery like this that makes me want to drive through this area. But for now thanks a million for letting me go along. Stay safe and happy adventuring.
Bravo !! Another great video of some epic beauty !!
You are correct, It is beautiful. Thanks for sharing! Safe travels!
It's wonderful seeing your reaction to larger and larger mountains! I grew up around here and I'm realizing how I just take them for granite. ;0)
Our happy place, Winthrop is home.
Gorgeous!!
Thank you so much for the tour! It is a complete priviledge to view :)
So many of my friends who have to the Swiss Alps and throughout Europe said that they like the North Cascades better. Stevens Pass through the North Cascades is also incredible! Russ wanted to keep stopping because of the views and I kept thinking wait it only gets better. It probably took him twice the amount of time to get over pass. It doesn’t matter how many times you go over the North Cascades it never gets old and you are always in awe. Winthrop is a western town with boardwalks.
the cut through the Paysetan wilderness has a "message tree"; you come out into Canada by Manning Park, if your horse string hasn't been attacked by cougar, bear, or maybe wolves! Back in the day this was the way to the coast. The Cascade Range wasn't passable, and there were no roads.
Makes me wonder when you were through there as we are covered in smoke right now.
Watched your video that's our old neighborhood moving back home been living in Wyoming last 8 years, can't wait it is God's country!
So grateful for this video.. Excellent job! Amazing view and so calming..I wish there was more country music 😁😁😁
The fall colors along these routes are spectacular. It's a bit early but you still may catch some of them changing. Had you not taken the Hwy 20 route and opted to follow US-2 there's a couple of gorgeous things you would have seen along the way, as well as some extremely diverse landscape. The Dry Lakes state park area near Coulee City is jaw-dropping - you would have had a field day with the drone (if the winds were agreeable), and the mountain town of Leavenworth is Bavarian-themed and very, very pretty.
Hope you stayed up all night and made 3 more videos of this drive. Been way to long , believe me Lucerne , Switzerland. Can't touch this 60 mile pass , Thank u so much wonderful.👌
Wow. Russ you made it. Cant wait to watch, more at end.🦝🐺🦊
Awesome sights right there!!!! 👋😊
Love the north cascade hwy !! Thanx for taking us along !!
Lovely! really enjoyed this trip with you. Love the mountains and the trees.
this old Canadian traveled and and camped through there in the 70s on our way out to Federal Way Washington , wonderful area..
Wow you traveled this route #20 at the right time of the year , colors are wonderful ..
My favorite little western town that i always stop at as i live on the West side of WA state ..
So much to see and explore and good food along the way .. It's great you take the time to put your drone in the air when you stop .. pretty cool ... I do not have a drone just yet.. well done ..
Morning Russ, SPECTACULAR ! Nuff said... See You Soon!
Thank you for sharing such spectacular footage! And Blue Skies that go on forever.
Russ, Your scenic videos are very relaxing. thank you so much for sharing.
Wow!!!! I love all your videos!!!!! Since I’m not traveling much now.... I’m enjoying all the videos....
apples and thoroughbred horses. I suppose you already know that a young man from back east ran the general store in Winthrop, Wa., returned to the east, and wrote "The Virginian".???
WOW What a ride. I hope you got your winter shorts with you. Just can't wait for the next part of this ride.
Love it
I can’t thank you enough felt so good to be in the mountains you made it feel so real this is so beautiful
Hi Russ. Again great scenery and drone shots. I'm sure glad I came along for the drive.Stay safe.
Thanks for this Russ….. another great one… take care on the road
Wow!
Russ, you may have just verified Perry Como's song "The Bluest Skies I've ever seen are in Seattle"
We love Winthrop! My husband's family had a homestead there. You can read about its history at the museum. Too bad you missed it.
Thanks for the videos Sir...
Fun fact: the part of Hwy 97 you were on is the in-between land between the Northern Rockies and the Northern Cascades.
97 continues up into BC and goes all the way up to the north end of the province.
Always Love these areas
When we lived in Omak in the 80s, one of our favorite camping and fishing spots was at Black Lake NE out of Winthrop.
Im definitely enoying it! Thank you!! I recently moved to spokane and definitely prefer this part of washington like wow the mountains are amazing. Thank you
Such a beautiful small towns with character. Nice a scenic ride. Thanks Russ 🚐. Stay safe
Another great production Russ. Thanks.
I hope you don't miss the next overlook, on your right at the top of the rise. Thanks for the trip.
I see my self in Winthrop
I don't know what route you have planned to get to Arizona, but I recommend US 2 at Monroe north of Seattle to avoid most of the smoke and congestion from the forest fires. Then take US 97 down to I-90. That gets you east of the Cascades and into the flat-lands, hopefully out of the smoke. It is a nice drive. I have enjoyed your videos for awhile now. Great job. We stayed in QZ and over in Chiracua
Monument a couple of years ago. Enjoy the rest of your trip. Be safe.
To get out of the
smoke going east, you have to go thto3ugh Idaho! It is spread across the states. Pray for wind! No rain here(eastern Washington) till Friday.
Keith Sparling We had rain here overnight in Bothell-Everett area. No clearing of smoke, though. 🤔
I recommend 395.
I would stay up there as long as you can, mass smoke in s.w washington. I don't know if you have been around the Olympic peninsula, might be able to kill some time there waiting for the smoke to go east. Going south in my opinion is a no go. I enjoy your content, keep it up.
Hello Russ,
Those mountains are so picture perfect,
Some parts of this area doesn't get much sun, cooler temperatures keep the snow in place.
I hope you are enjoying the Cascades.
Sure would have liked to meet you , close
when you wave at the end of the videos.
Take Care.
Larry &Linda
Such beauty out that way! Wow! I thought of Frank Capra..It's a Wonderful Life...sure hope it gets back to normal before too long!
