- Finding the right sandpaper when I need it is always a barrier to finishing my projects. I needed a way to keep the different grits sorted, tear sheets to the sizes I need for my sanding block, and move the organizer to wherever I need it in the shop. This project was useful to organize my shop and increase my productivity-plus, it was really easy to make! Since it was a shop project, I got to experiment with design without being concerned about making too perfect and use up some scrap wood.
The technique I used on this project is also useful to make quick, easy shelves to organize anything, from sandpaper to scrapbooking paper or just about any other craft materials.

I've loved building things from a young age and I believe anyone can get out to the shop and make things. I want to inspire people to go out there and learn something new, to experience the thrill of taking a project from the moment of inspiration to a finished piece. Also, my wife has a very long honey-do list for me and I might as well make videos doing it.

Episode 5 - Sandpaper Station
Each time I see a sandpaper organiser it reminds me to get on with making one 😁 Nice design. Thank for sharing ॐ
The Wood Yogi I spent so much time riffling through the drawer of sandpaper that it would add to the frustration that is sanding. I'm so glad u made this and made it portable so I can always take my sanding to the project. I highly suggest it!
Is the sandpaper sorted by grit? Maybe some labels on the side so you quickly know what grit you are grabbing without having to pull out a sheet and read it.
Robin Eddy I will definitely put on labels, just wanted to make sure I had all the grits accounted for. I might also separate out different types of sandpaper since i have several types with different backing material and different types of grit. Once I use it for a while, I'll figure out a permanent labelling solution.
Nice job! I really like how you can tear the paper using that blade you added. That was a nice touch!
Thank you! I never use a full-size sheet of paper and always end up folding it and it starts to tear anyway or it slides on itself and just never quite works, so I made sure to design it so the paper would fit between the handles and that it was (just barely) wide enough to screw the blade on. I was actually kind of surprised how well it worked. It's also great for tearing lengthwise as I have a vibrating sander that takes half sheets.
Loved the idea with the hacksaw blade, as well as the multi-purpose handle.
The hacksaw blades has become so useful. It is nice being able to take the sandpaper where I'm sanding, though I use the handle more often to hold the roll of paper.
That turned out pretty good. I like the handle/tape roll holder. Nicely done.
Thank you! I use this thing way more than I expected. It's so nice being able to take the sandpaper to the project!
The Every Maker - Nick oh I can imagine.
Very cool project! I love the addition of the hacksaw blade and the dual-use handle! Well Done!
Thank you! I wanted to make the Sandpaper station more functional than just a box on the wall that holds sandpaper. I always ended up folding my sandpaper, then it would slip and start cracking and ripping, so the Hacksaw blade really helps and makes sure I'm only using up what I need.
Gonna make one or more of these for Dovetail, finally!
I love this thing, I've got to make a couple more for my smaller orbital sander pads!
wonderful video !! nice!
Thank you! It's a lot of fun!
Great job! Just a quick correction: a dado runs across the grain, while a groove runs with (or parallel to) the grain. Thanks for the great videos!
That is a good clarification, a lot of definitions don't specify the difference, but I appreciate the attention to detail! Thanks for watching!
ah yes, a blooming youtuber I can sink my Subscription hooks into and cry later how I subbed to him when he was less than 100 subs.
RUclips logic.
Ha ha! Thank you for that and thanks for the subscription!
Perfect...Exactly what I need to get my paper organized.
Glad to hear it is what you are looking for! I find it very useful!
So fun to watch even if I never make it myself! I like the music too.
Thank you! I actually really like the artist's music. It's kind of fun picking out which song to use for which videos and which parts.
