Love watching your videos. My wife and I live in California but hope to retire in Dauin. I look forward to learning more about your time and experiences there. God bless you all!!!
NICE!!!! I’d be your neighbor in a heartbeat, I plan to live in or near that area in about 8yrs 😕 I hate waiting but I visit each year to plan for my future. I hope you still around in 8-9 yrs so I can learn more from ya, take care!!!
Thank you, Ned, for another GREAT video! This episode, my favorite remark was the trampoline was made for "Philippino-sized people." That line was perfect. Btw, I'm totally digging this house! It looks like a nicer location and larger, but chop suey? No lumpia or balut?
This place looks like a dream. Why did you move back to Dumaguete? too many bugs? too remote? I dream about living in a place like that...what did you learn about that lifestyle?
Those "friendship palms" are neither native to The Philippines nor palms. They are Ravenala madagasceriensis, also called traveler tree. Copra is dried coconut flesh (kernel). Those coconut palms can be underplanted if you want to do a little farming.
Can you please tell me how much this place sold for? I see the video was 8 years old and you said you were planning on leaving it at 6 months to one year so just curious if you remember what it went for? Thank you
Yeah, it was but we moved back to Dumaguete a a few weeks ago. Dauin was too far and the bugs were a wee bit out of control. Living without screens is not for the faint of heart, especially when reach Jurassic-era proportions.
Philippine Dreams Wow I was just about to ask ALL these questions. You know I have been following you since August so every now and then I go and look at old stuff and I was just kicking back watching the 10 things and I look over and see THIS video and I click and Im like WHOA why on earth leave this place and go BACK to Dumaguete....based on your comments in the video about Dumaguete! But now I get it. Yes for me to no matter how beautiful it is I MUST HAVE great internet or else no one gets rent. Hahaha. But man I love this place! Love the Doberman too.
Man that was a pretty house. how far were you from the city? I'm more of a province guy, but business requires me to be near a city. are you planning to stay permanent?
+Alvin Robinson It's 3 MB DL and .5 MB UL. It's OK when the signal is steady. From 6 to 10 PM, it really stutters as the Philippines is updating it's collective Facebook page!
Ned there seems to be some kind of very big change in your life in the Philippines which I missed somewhere. In your new life what happened to Angel, the motor bikes and your new lady friend. I can see the attraction to the new place, far better than the old. What happened?
We were at the Dauin house from March to May. Then we were at Dumaguete Studio Apartments while we waited on a good house. We moved into the pink house here in Bunao on June 21.
If that's what 15,000 php gets you then I wonder what double gets you.i like the fact that it has solar panels and it's own water supply. Being that close to the sea is the only thing that would kill it for me.
Yep. The bugs were very bad and since it was all nipa/wood construction, there was no real way to screen off just the windows and be free of them. On the flip side, the house never got very hot and always cooled off nicely at night. We are now back in Dumaguete and enjoying our (mostly) bug free apartment.
i had lived in Manila & Pampanga for 3 1'/2 years as a U.S civilian wondering around having lots of fun for the most part. renting nice homes and sub leasing out to other foreigner's. I have a lot of wild & cool stories about the PI. My question is, why don't ya do a "WARNING" story on the dirty scum bag foreigners that feed on other nieve foreigners when they first come to the PI ? theres's a lot of that there, many had tried to screw me but it never happened,, im way to savvy for that sht.. P.S my Philipina wife and our 2 kids like watching your vids, good job.. you seem to be a good guy and on a personal mission. i did the same thing, hats off to ya. My asawa & our 2 kids are coming back in Nov, of this year for the first time in 6 1/2 years. it would be cool to run into you & your wife. if you have a email ill send you some pics

WoW...this place is much nicer than you're old place....Also, I heard you say that you have a helper? How did you manage that?
This place was really nice Ned. Shame so far from the city and having such slow internet does suck.
What is the Bamboo looking green wrap on the top rail on the outside balcony? Curious if its a handcrafted thing or a purchased thing.
Great looking place..... Good for you..... No rooster's, how will you make it through the morning!!
This place looks like a dream. Why did you move back to Dumaguete? too many bugs? too remote? I dream about living in a place like that...what did you learn about that lifestyle?

What’s the go with the solar. Does it have a battery bank set up. Can I see more of the system?

Isn't that house visible from the "National Highway"? I think I've seen and admired it many times passing on my way from Bayawan to Dumaguete.
+Chaz Worm No it is away from the highway on a rocky beach.
I thought I'm watching Bruce Willis in your opening line. hahaha... love your videos...
***** LOL, I've heard that before. :)
Can you please tell me how much this place sold for? I see the video was 8 years old and you said you were planning on leaving it at 6 months to one year so just curious if you remember what it went for? Thank you

I sent them to a fellow forum member who graciously provided his address. They took about 10 weeks to arrive from the US east coast.

Man that was a pretty house. how far were you from the city? I'm more of a province guy, but business requires me to be near a city. are you planning to stay permanent?
Nice I want a duplicate home
Is that 1Mbit download or upload speed? Because that is extremely slow. How do you manage?
+Alvin Robinson It's 3 MB DL and .5 MB UL. It's OK when the signal is steady. From 6 to 10 PM, it really stutters as the Philippines is updating it's collective Facebook page!

Why did you ever move from this place!?!
Too far from city and the internet was garbage. I need decent internet to work.
If that's what 15,000 php gets you then I wonder what double gets you.i like the fact that it has solar panels and it's own water supply. Being that close to the sea is the only thing that would kill it for me.
max miser It was a nice place. I just need window screens, AC and good internet. Plus, it was too far from town...
So what is the peso , dollar conversion? 500 a month ?
Google knows.
15,000 PHP would around $300 US
hello, can i ask you a few questions ?
Coy Jordan Sure,
Are you free to tell us the asking price for this property?
I think it was 10 million.
New House? What happened with the Pink House?
Wow really a nice place, love it! Your own little resort 😉
To far out for you from Duma? Driving all the time for food and banking, most likely no ATMs or banks in dauin
what a nice property. would have been better if they spend few more hundreds to put on insect screens.
Yep. The bugs were very bad and since it was all nipa/wood construction, there was no real way to screen off just the windows and be free of them. Frank Priv We don't live there anymore!
I hear that you can piggy back off south koreas internet with a satty.
Ned you have great taste in cigarettes I see you smoking those Marlboro reds. Do you know how much the owner is selling his property for?
Nice place
