Thank you! Appreciated that you go into details with the blueprints, explaining roughly how it works and what the pros and cons of this particular approach are and revealing things like that dumb dirscord fake verification rating. It helps to determine if the asset (or any other assets of this creator) is worth getting.
Thank you, I believe it is important to be transparent and honest. Also, it is part of my job to be on the side of consumers to make sure they are given all the information.
I think your character was at 4:11 too far from the enemy to play the correct finishing animation (grab from behind and slice). Does this parry pack come with any animation ?
It wasn't too far. If it was too far, then the player would not attack. Do keep in mind the player does not have an attack, it is a "finishing blow". The pack have a couple of animations.
I think I got that bakery in a Humble Bundle a while ago. It looks really familiar. I don't mind taking things that I can modify/flip props from for prototyping and also to save time. It's not fair to compare free to paid but if anyone is serious about this hobby then it's more worthwhile to periodically check Humble for collections of great assets and packs for very cheap prices. With this new model I'm not expecting much from the free collection anymore. Unless they include some more cathedrals and then I can finally make a cathedral from cathedrals.
Humble bundle is for sure a resource that gives good offers from time to time. Which is why I used to cover it in the past. Maybe I should do it again.
Thanks for the video! For me it's like always: Take everything with you first. Since I didn't notice what it used to be like in the old and better days, I'm happy about what's there. I'll probably only actually use a fraction, but it increases the choice I have. If I ever want something specific, I'll have to buy it anyway. Anyway, I wish everyone a few nice winter days!
The dev for the parry system is friends with gorka, clydie and threepeat. they did a podcast recently together talking about combat fury. I'm sure he would correct this if he knows. But yes I agree with you leaf
This is actually the second bunch of free assets for January. There were the Pirate Stilt Village Island, the Skeleton Guard (Modular), and the Comicbook cutscene available earlier this month. But these being released during the holidays (and not particularly amazing packs, on par with the new trend) it's understandable they were missed.
Unfortunately no, what you are referring to is a December asset give away. Which you can see as I released a video on it the day it was released, the 31:st of December. ruclips.net/video/TRIwtAgasjo/видео.html
@@LeafBranchGames Right, so they're going on a strict 14 days period for each asset releases rather than being just twice a month (it's a bit of a nitpick on my part here because it will balance out eventually, but we can expect 3 releases for July and December)
@@Rusty0621 Yes, exactly. Bi weekly, which will lead to irregular patterns from time to time. Might feel a bit pecualiar because we had the regularity per month before. Keep track of every other week is more difficult.
I purchased the parry attack system for a project some time ago and was always curious about why they implemented that ridiculous verification system. Thanks for clearing that up, pretty scummy system they've set up.
this might be the first time in years that I'm just not even gonna bother getting the free assets. i don't need this crap junking up my asset library. I'd rather Epic give away a single asset per month that was actually useful and high quality than 6 pieces of garbage that aren't worth anyone's time
I can understand the sentiment for sure. But it might be worth getting simply because you never know what you will have use of in the future. But of course, that is an individual choice.
Woooow what scumbag behavior. Release a product and the only way they'll actually give customers the support they need to get it working they basically extort them? Disgusting... thanks for highlighting that.
The current implementation of the parry system is inherently flawed because a parry system cannot be isolated from the combat system it is meant to complement. It makes little sense to treat the parry system as a standalone feature, as every combat system varies significantly in design, mechanics, and flow. Rather than attempting to retrofit parts of a generic parry system into different combat systems, it would be far more effective to design a complete combat system where the parry mechanics are integrated seamlessly from the outset. This approach ensures that the parry system aligns with the unique requirements and dynamics of the combat system, leading to a more cohesive and effective gameplay experience. That being said, I have a suggestion for a tutorial. A melee combat system, including parry mechanics.
This is true, a parry system is usually a way too intricate part of a larger combat system, so for many it would not be usuable unless they had this at the start and built around it. Thanks for the suggestion!
This is sad that Epic Games forgets about UE4, giving for us free garbage for UE5 only last time... This is very rare when they drop asset, that supports UE4, but even in that case it is garbage with 99% chance.
It is true, many people who create assets may focus on UE5 instead of having many different versions up to date, which may have to function quite differently. Which version are you on? 4.26? 4.27?
Does the parry pack have animations that are new/not present in available anim packs like ALS, Paragon etc. ? If so it could be valuable just for that, animations are always valuable imo.
Hey, criticizing the asset is fair, to not like it is also fair. But to claim I asked users to give me good rating to get verified and access support is not true and not fair at all. I always asked users to use the questions section for verification, and everyone in my Discord knows it. Please investigate collect facts and correct this false claim.

@@LeafBranchGames It seems that the primary issue lies in the fact that the creators Epic aims to attract for the giveaway events are not applying. This is perplexing, especially considering that participation comes with monetary compensation. The lack of applications from talented creators may indicate a general disinterest or a lack of awareness about the opportunity. In contrast, those who do apply often submit subpar assets, seemingly using the giveaway as a way to offload content that lacks quality. To address this challenge, I propose the establishment of a dedicated outreach team. This team would proactively engage with skilled creators, informing them of the benefits of participating in the event, including the opportunity to be compensated for each "purchase" of their assets. By doing so, Epic can ensure higher-quality submissions and a more successful event overall.
