HEY SCOTTY, I want to buy a used 4runner or Highlander that still has 80%-90% life left. Considering a 12K miles per year usage, Which year model would give me the most for the buck? 2014, 15, 16, 17? Or even older? Thanks
so far the Chinese and Indians are only buying up crap companies that none one wants: Jaguar, Volvo, Land Rover... and they're already losing money on them.
@@deansbc9431 most of these deals are done thru Groupe PSA or Quindao Investments, but ultimately 70-80 stake holder is the Chinese Communist Gov't, rest is owned by some other socialist oligarchs and their families like Macron. Nope. Without patent and copyright protection, you wouldn't have the technology you have today. Chinese culture just lacks self respect and integrity. Imagine if they took pride in originality, what they could do. China has no shame and doesn't even care that they're always made the mockery of the developed world.
I have a Geely Azkarra 4wd mild hybrid since August 2020 and I cannot complain with the quality and amenities its a superb car and the traffic condition here in the Philippines it is a pure bliss to drive. Truly a Volvo sibling for a very appordable cost, just stick to the maintenance as suggested by the manufacturer and you cannot go wrong.
Once upon a time "Made in Japan" meant it was a piece of JUNK! Of course this was pre-1970's. In 1969 the Toyota Corona was Consumer Reports "Import Car of the Year". From that magical moment Japanese vehicles, photography, electronic radios & walk-mans and tires began changing what "Made in Japan" use to mean to mean "very high quality, long lasting and very friendly consumer products". China is on the same path as Japan. All over the internet you'll find comments about how they loathe chinese products. But the Chinese have completely taken over the Consumer & Commercial RC Drone and the solar panel markets here in the US. The Chinese are also making most of the cell phones in the world and now they're into making British cars? Chinese just by virtue of their culture that pretty much worships the all mighty dollar and how easily the Communist Chinese have adapted to Capitalism and how Capitalism is pretty much in their blood.
The first car I drove was a Corona. It just kept going. I gave to my brother and he drove it until it had over 300k miles on it. Awesome little hatchback.
If you talk about the Landwind X7, it is actually a direct copy of the Range Rover Evoque. That Landwind has a clone Mitsubishi 4G63 engine from the Evo 4~8. Probably last longer than the original Range Rover Evoque engine. The Mitsubishi engine unit has been tested through time, it was used in rally cars decades ago.
This has been going on for some time now. I read an article about this back in 05. It was a motorcycle as an example. Warren Buffet toured the Chinese factories a few years ago and came back and said he passed mile after mile of cities of factories like the USA never had.
I saw a Chinese knockoff of the mitsubishi outlander got t bone at very low speed by a ford fusion. And the car got split in half while the fusion drove home after the accident! After seeing that, I wouldn't feel safe in any Chinese made car.
@@ronvalley1973 maybe....could probably make a car light enough with enough rubber surrounding bumpers, the car would just bounce off another car on impact. d ont think the parts companies, insurance companies n b idy shops would like that kinda car.
I never realized there were so many white SUV's on the road till I bought a new SUV painted white. Twice people have mistaken my car for theirs and tried to hop in. For the most part, they all look alike but the CR-V is the best. That oil dilution issue Scotty mentions is gone away forever so no need to worry about that.
If the Chinese were smart, they would make a Fiat , call it the Fooyat , 10 × the quality, and make enough money to enter the world market with A quality, low maintenance vehicle. Then they would be a world leader with a world bearer!!

You're right regarding Kawasaki copying BSA, but the Kawasaki W1 and W2 were based on the A10 BSA, not the A65 as shown. (The chief differences when first produced by Kawasaki were the carburettor, lubrication system and timing side bearing. Later versions had a much improved ignition / charging system.) The original A10 was designed (or, to be entirely fair: redesigned) in six weeks by Burt Hopwood in the late 1940s. The last batch of W2 Kawasakis was sold to the Royal Hong Kong Police Force in 1974 and sported a twin disk brake, windscreen, flashers, siren and two way radio.

the Chinese will make it as good as you are willing to pay for really, pay nothing and they'll sell you junk and yet people criticize and expect perfection while also paying nothing.
I had a Daewoo Matiz 5 years ago in Europe. The Chinese copy was so exact that the doors on the Korean designed Matiz and the knockoff were interchangeable!
If you only knew how different Chinese and Japanese culture are... opposites in some respects, like carefulness, integrity, which are of incredible importance
The best part about the Landwind SUVs is that they're based off the Toyota RAV4 but with Range Rover body panels. Also, the BAIC BJ40 have Saab engines in them, well, the tooling of those engines made it to China when Saab went belly up, so that's nice

The most popular car there is called WuLingZhiGuang, over 600k sold in 2017. Price is only $6k! we actually went there and drove around the country for over 10k miles. It’s actually very reliable. We had to tow the other car in our team in Tibet, well, the other car was a BMW!
Maybe not. They are incapable of producing quality products even though they steal technology from others worldwide. They do things on the cheap and take shortcuts in ideas and quality.
@@florret2003 That's what everyone said about Japanese products after WW2. By the late '60s Japanese motorcycles and electronics were quite popular here in the US. By the "80's so were there cars.

Downie - I own a Chevy express box van and I'm happy with it. It has around 97,000 miles and still runs strong. The only gripe I have about mine is that there's no cruise control. I've heard that GM started putting cruise control on the newer ones. Mine is a 1997 and I'm thinking about buying a wiring harness and a cruise control turn signal switch.
I am a ford guy, that being said buy the chevy. They ride better, dont have the front suspension issues all Ford vans have. Have had both for many years. Much prefer chevy vans anyway.
Owned a 1997 Chevy Astro cargo van, 4.3l. Best car I've ever owned. Had upwards of 226,000 miles, ran like it was brand new. It was a "simple mechanical device". I only sold it because thieves broke the driver door. Otherwise I would still have it. Jaguar was the best looking, but crappiest car I've owned. Chinese knock offs would be better quality.
In the UK MG is selling the cheapest Electric car on the market currently, the MG ZS EV. It's a small electric SUV for around £21,000 after subsidy, I hear they can't make enough of these and they sell each one they make. Signs of things to come.
I've heard that the I6 engine used in the original Toyota Land Cruiser is such an exact copy of the Chevy stovebolt 6 that the water pumps will bolt right up...

Yes, but only against his lawyer's advice.

So scotty is italian?

Hey, i bought the new MG ZST about a 5 month ago. I can say that for what it offers and how it drives it’s a greatttt car for the price… really satisfied with this purchase
My ex-girlfriend just bought a Land Rover...
Now I can enjoy my revenge.... 👍

Hello mr.scooty I’m your fan from Sri Lanka and you changed my mind about cars.and made me a Toyota fan.
China is right, Patens and Copyright are stupid. I want a car with a Mercedes interior, Tesla drive train and Aston Martin exterior
Voice IT and 10k start price
A $ 1500 made in China Ikea cart car. comes in a wooden box in pieces.....Get out the instructions, n put it together yourself.
Nope. Without patent and copyright protection, you wouldn't have the technology you have today.
Chinese culture just lacks self respect and integrity. Imagine if they took pride in originality, what they could do. China has no shame and doesn't even care that they're always made the mockery of the developed world.
I would rather have a Toyota
@InfiniteMushroom sounds ideal, but you haven't thought the implications through.
"I've never driven them before but people I know down in Mexico say, 'Aye, they're pretty okay cars.'"
Wow! That's good enough evidence for me!
The Chinese knock off jeep is probably more reliable than the actual jeep lol
I have a Geely Azkarra 4wd mild hybrid since August 2020 and I cannot complain with the quality and amenities its a superb car and the traffic condition here in the Philippines it is a pure bliss to drive. Truly a Volvo sibling for a very appordable cost, just stick to the maintenance as suggested by the manufacturer and you cannot go wrong.
If the Wal-Mart stores weren't big enough, now they need shelf space for Chinese cars.😄
🤣ROTFLOL‼️ 🤣LOLMAO‼️
Scotty should come to China and actually review some of these knockoff cars, that would be interesting to watch!

Yeah you right my friend
If you talk about the Landwind X7, it is actually a direct copy of the Range Rover Evoque. That Landwind has a clone Mitsubishi 4G63 engine from the Evo 4~8. Probably last longer than the original Range Rover Evoque engine. The Mitsubishi engine unit has been tested through time, it was used in rally cars decades ago.
You can find most of does cars in Dominican Republic, Central American and so on....the entire country are full also of 200cc Chinese motos.
After seeing that, I wouldn't feel safe in any Chinese made car.
wow, holy shiznit.
a carbon fiber , plastic car made in china doesn't do very well in a high speed, high impact crash.
@@driver4011 interesting. i wonder if they could mix a rubber compound into plastic so it would flex in a crash?
@@ronvalley1973
maybe....could probably make a car light enough with enough rubber surrounding bumpers, the car would just bounce off another car on impact. d ont think the parts companies, insurance companies n b idy shops would like that kinda car.
I bet Scotty has to have a seperate hard drive just to keep his meme collection on 😂
You are correct. I live in the Philippines. I have done many videos of Chinese car and motorcycle brands.
If the Chinese were smart, they would make a Fiat , call it the Fooyat , 10 × the quality, and make enough money to enter the world market with A quality, low maintenance vehicle. Then they would be a world leader with a world bearer!!
I have a better name....Fi Yang
The land wind has excellent build quality. Excellent engine too
Scotty it's time to clean up that ecological disaster of a yard. Love your videos
Just for the record "antique Russian car called "niva", which is still being cranked out ,was pure soviet made car.Back in early 70s it was the prototype of the first Japanese Suzuki offroader that Japanese copycatted
America: we make the best cars! Nobody can copy our cars!
China: hold my rice
Yeah, right.
Born and raised in Detroit, believe me, nobody there has said "we make the best cars!" in decades. The bean counters won the battle decades ago, the engineers lost so we got planned obsolescence.
if American cars were more reliable and better on gas everyone in the World would want one 😄 remember, gas in most other countries is 100-200% more expensive then us (excluding California haha)
@@DerekChabrow As the Spartan said, "IF".
The United States of America made the best vehicles in the world decades ago.I believe thanks to Corporate greed and us being behind in education compared to Europe and Japan sadly we are behind.
Hi Scott , great channel , and a free smile every time is a plus from the amusement ! 😁 I never commented just thumbs up . I had the Toyotas 89 4cyl 4x4 and the 93 4.0 six 4x4 .. So here it is - the Toyota Tacoma 4x4 other than the 4.0 and 3.5 v6 .. (What are your feelings and experiences for their - 2.7 L. 4 cyl. engine 4x4 preferably in extra cab ? ) Thanks a lot Scott !, peace
It'd be great if the chinese MG company started producing a well engineered replica of the MG-TD.
Scotty did you have some of that Smirnoff before you made the video.. You were smirking all the way 😂
I’m looking forward for the GAC gs8, it’s coming to the US soon.
You're right regarding Kawasaki copying BSA, but the Kawasaki W1 and W2 were based on the A10 BSA, not the A65 as shown. (The chief differences when first produced by Kawasaki were the carburettor, lubrication system and timing side bearing. Later versions had a much improved ignition / charging system.)
The original A10 was designed (or, to be entirely fair: redesigned) in six weeks by Burt Hopwood in the late 1940s.
The last batch of W2 Kawasakis was sold to the Royal Hong Kong Police Force in 1974 and sported a twin disk brake, windscreen, flashers, siren and two way radio.
What's your opinion on the late 70s Suzuki bikes? I might buy a 250 PE for 600$, only the back breaks need replaced.
dont do it dude. i am a biker and a bike that old has dried out seals everywhere, and, parts may be hard to come by, so just get a 90's bike if you want better luck and scotty has said, and i know it to be true, honda, makes the best car and bike engines in the world.....!
Wouldnt take a new British vehicle if it was for free, their crap. Used to work jaguar/range rover/land rover. So many warranty problems. Outside of warranty, owner's go off their heads when they got the repair bill. Felt sorry for the them. Scotty's on the money 100%, 👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Cheers from 🇦🇺
Got my first wife in Japan, My second wife was a Chinese knockoff!
Scotty please review the Ford Ranger vs the Chevrolet Colorado vs the Toyota Tacoma. I’d love to hear what you think of them.
Back in the mid-2000's, there was Hongda. lol
Lol 😂 this gotta be the funniest video I’ve seen this week..
I live in China, see “Land winds” and some of these other knockoffs every day. Some of them are pretty darn close aesthetically.
the Chinese will make it as good as you are willing to pay for really, pay nothing and they'll sell you junk and yet people criticize and expect perfection while also paying nothing.
I've seen news about guys re-badge Zotye sr9 as Cayenne and pick up girls from bars with it.
I had a Daewoo Matiz 5 years ago in Europe. The Chinese copy was so exact that the doors on the Korean designed Matiz and the knockoff were interchangeable!
Pele Wang You gotta respect the hustle. ✊
Real interesting video Scotty, thanks man.
If you only knew how different Chinese and Japanese culture are... opposites in some respects, like carefulness, integrity, which are of incredible importance
Harry the Toyota believes in Kaizen “continuous Improvement.”
The best part about the Landwind SUVs is that they're based off the Toyota RAV4 but with Range Rover body panels.
Also, the BAIC BJ40 have Saab engines in them, well, the tooling of those engines made it to China when Saab went belly up, so that's nice
Speaking of copying cars...
Something else I see is the direct correlation of comments in the comment section
I am from China. MG is already purchased by Shanghai Motor Automobile Group.... they are in good shapes now and have lots of customers

Hey Scotty I love your videos, but I wonder one thing. Why do you switch locations so often? One minute you in front of your celica then the next in front of your porch.
If I were Scotty , I’d be furious about Chinese automakers copying Lexus designs !
The most popular car there is called WuLingZhiGuang, over 600k sold in 2017. Price is only $6k! we actually went there and drove around the country for over 10k miles. It’s actually very reliable. We had to tow the other car in our team in Tibet, well, the other car was a BMW!
Many real auto manufacturers ought to KNOCK IT OFF, and go back to selling quality over quantity.
Not as long as people buy the trash and dealers fleece people to "repair" it.
Want better American vehicles? Stop buying them.
@@wholeNwon never owned an American vehicle Lol
Most manufacturers are losing out on both counts.
A downward spiral.
I visited Shanghai in December and I didn’t see many copy vehicles. I saw a lot of Tesla’s though.
I love my Dyson Chinese knockoff Vacuum machine. The cost is 1/4 but works better! lol
My Dyson works better than the cheap Chinese knock offs because I clean my vacuums filters before I compare it to my trusty old Dyson vacuum.
lol those laughing animals inserted in the videos makes my day!
Maybe in 20-30 years Chinese vehicles will be as good as Honda and Toyota are now.
Maybe much sooner.

To is not what the outside of the car looks like but comfort and durability. The current situation with tariffs makes me wonder about the whole car market especially cars with “World Wide Parts”?

when you have chance to visit China.
you will be amazed by how many different car brands and model on the road.
it is very very competitive market.
the Chinese brands have improved so much recent years
Rev up your knockoffs!! 🚗
When foreign companies build a factory to build their product, it has been known that the Chinese company builds an exact duplicate factory down the road and uses the same employees in a different shift. The product in the second factory is often exactly the same with a different label.
Soon Chinese are going to copy Scotty's 94 Celica
I'm understanding more and more about cars as you explain Scotty. Nice work.
Hey Scotty! Any advice or knowledge on GMC Savana and Chevy Express cargo vans? Thanks buddy!
Garbage, endless money pits
