    Another con is all the creepy crawlies, bugs, mosquitoes, etc.! That can be frustrating or worse if you're from someplace like California (as I am) that doesn't have as many bugs and reptiles. We have some, of course (e.g. rattlesnakes, black widows), but not like Houston. That said, if you pay for pest control every few months it helps. Just kind of sucks you have to make pest control part of your seasonal or annual expenses.
    Also traffic and road rage in LA is terrible as well, but I think Houston might even be worse. But traffic in the suburbs is better.

      It’s so funny you mention that because I was fighting for my life against mosquitoes in Galveston a couple days ago 😂
      My wife and I love visiting LA! We love the Asia town over there, but you’re right that driving and parking are tough over there as well!

    Wow 30k with a college degree. I’m from Northeast Ohio looking to relocate to H town because of the job market and I mean let’s face it it’s cold up here. Even with the cons I’m ready. Thanks for the info and the food suggestions.

      It’s freezing! Definitely don’t miss it, especially hearing how Michigan got 1 foot of snow on Halloween. Let us know if we can help you with your relocation! 832-920-3589

    What’s the best part of Houston to buy a home in that is not in a flood zone? Can you recommend any neighborhoods?

    • @REALHOUSTONLIVING

      Give me a call or send me an email and I’ll be glad to share my recommendations! There’s a lot of factors going into picking a neighborhood.

    You live in Houston? What part? Is there a FB page or something to get notifications about the city’s events and festivals?

    • @REALHOUSTONLIVING
      @REALHOUSTONLIVING  2 месяца назад +1

      I live by the Galleria area! I’m not as active on Facebook but the Houston subreddit on Reddit has a pretty cool weekly thread about things-to-do in Houston.

      @@REALHOUSTONLIVING I use to live in the Galleria area. I miss it. But now I’m in the upper middle town area because of a home I bought. Houston has become boring though out the years. It’s why I was asking for events feeds. Something to do in the city.😅

      @@T509scorpion I heard that! One of my biggest gripes about Houston is that there isn’t much to do here, but NRG has been picking it up with more events and festivals! Definitely keep an eye out there

      @@REALHOUSTONLIVING Alrighty. I’ve gotten my first tattoos at the NRG. Definitely looking to socialize here. I am struggling to find a group to hang with and to connect with. 3 years trying and I’ll probably give it 2 more years.

    No even one beach around Houston?

    • @REALHOUSTONLIVING
      @REALHOUSTONLIVING  Год назад +1

      Galveston beaches are probably the closest and those are okay in my opinion. I grew up on Michigan beaches and it’s nothing compared to those. It’s great for fishing if you’re into that though!

    What about the job opportunities for the beauty industry ?

    • @REALHOUSTONLIVING
      @REALHOUSTONLIVING  9 месяцев назад

      There’s definitely a market for beauticians (nails, hair stylists, eyelashes, etc) but almost nothing for fashion and clothing.

    You forgot to mention that Texas has no income tax, which should have been mentioned when complaining about property taxes

      Fair point. I did mention it in another one of my videos though!

    • @RandomHumanCreature

      That's either a pro or a con depending on your personal sense of social ethics, or from a personal impact perspective, depending on your income/wealth level. The wealthier you are, the more you benefit from regressive taxes. The poorer you are, the less you benefit, as the less money you make, the higher the percentage of your income that goes to regressive taxes. And since the minimum wage here is so low, the wealth disparity is significant. I personally benefit from this, but I would also vote for more progressive taxation because of my personal sense of social ethics.
