Ladies and gentlemen, that's why we don't let designers make business decisions
True
The whole purpose of a designer is to make good calls on designing a screen like that. It should be based on research tho and not just aesthetic preferences as to not guesswork (which i think is the case in this video)That’s why ux designers are needed for jobs like that.
Bro it's a video and obviously a joke don't get your panties in a twist.
I agree with removing the CAPCHA stop making me prove I'm not a bot, it's annoying
@@jarema9999 to bad this "designer" removed key elements of the sign in page. A designer shouldn't just make it look good, but also unique and functional.
Looks great, but actually way worse in my opinion. I think functionality always goes before design. Maybe you can find a way to keep the functionality. Also the reCaptcha text *has* to be on this page as per the terms of use and common data privacy laws. The imprint also has to be on there for compliance reasons in some countries. I think it's an interesting discussion despite the video mostly being a joke. I think it's a typical beginner problem as a designer.
Yep, the way the page is laid out looks like all of the clutter was an afterthought because they realised they needed it for compliance. Their original idea was probably very similar to the one in the video.
I think he should have removed a lot but not the important stuff like sign up and remember me
didn’t get the joke.
@@Roxleton what joke? He does it in every video. He takes a good and easy to memorize layout and makes it modern with Additional cluster that didnt need to be their and wasn't their before.
@@peteressert5172 Eh depends, it certainly is like that for anyone used to them. But it does leave less options for the eyes to go through so you get to where you want quicker.
But this vid is a joke, because clearly, removing the new account button for the sake of aesthetics is just not something anyone would do. Netflix already has a modern aesthetic so there's nothing to be done really. I guess you can clean things up but that's just a waste of effort.

I like the redesign but I do like functionality too. Also I think instead of the red colour coming in when you sign up, the classic Netflix colour ribbons would look awesome! Still a great redesign, love it!
Hear me out, the color ribbons come out of the button and expand like their intros, revealing everything, instead of having just the red background loading :D
Also they most likely need to disclose the CAPTCHA legally, and the other information is helpful. Imagine you need customer service/ something like that but the only button is "SIGN IN"
It already happens on the TV app when you launch a movie so they have it aorted out there. Not a lot of work to implement to login page.
@@AraiDigital That's what I meant to say, thanks!

Removes legally required text*
One of the MOST irritating things about UI and Web pages these days is if you DO actually need to call the place on the phone it can be like following a cryptic treasure map to find a phone number. If I can't fix my issue online and I decide I need to call, I NEED TO CALL!! Like, calling is a last resort, but just give me the goddamn number to call!
bro the remember me and forgot password are literally the most important parts of that page haha
And sign up
i mean remember me is not needed really, it should always remember you until you log out but yeah
removing forgot password was dumb
@@nomadshiba absolutely not, u realize some people use netflix on other devices, like at a friends house. You wouldnt want it to stay logged in unless you tell it to

"A loading icon??"
10 secs later: let's add a loading icon 👍
It’s a more interesting loading screen than just the sign in page with a spinning circle.
@@striderpup1169 no. a full screen loading screen still sucks tbh
@@Ruri0120 Yes, what happens when the system checks and finds you didn't give the right password. Then it'd have to go back from the loading screen to the sign in page.
Some of the stuff is legal stuff and getting rid of "Sign up" makes it harder for people to get a new account if they don't have one.
Also the "remember me" is also very handy, especially for a streaming service where I don't wanna login every time I use it.
The footer with the extra resources is also very useful for people who aren't as "easy understanding" as you.
Hello! We meet again! lol, anyways I do agree, functionality comes first before designing, it has to be well functional at best and easy to use!
Like for example, if you prioritize designs more than functionality you may run into some problems espellicially with not being usable or easy to use/convenient.
A good example is RUclips's User Interface, and while the design looks nice, but they took away some functionality just to make it look good or more "modern" like, here's some stuff they removed:
-Date added oldest feature
-Dislikes
(Included in list because most social media has no dislikes as that is "modern")
-And video thumbnails edges
(This caused some problems with smoother corners)
But yeah you get the idea.
captcha has to be disclosed
CaptainCHA
The ReCAPTCHA thing is put automatically by the RECAPTCHA creators, and its not allowed to be removed.
Exactly what I was thinking. You are legally required to show the text if you are using recaptcha
Nonono the phone number thing is AMAZING! I hate waiting for emails and those unhelpful chats. Phone call with a real person is the quickest way to sort out issues.
Exactly, who wants to dig around the About us section to find no number xD.
Yeah a lot of companies already make it so hard to contact customer service let alone talk to an actual person why hide the phone number?
then you can look up the number lol

I love how after working in software u realize graphic designers are exactly like this. Delete everything and some impossible css animations.
The animations are totally possible in CSS, removing the legal stuff, as well as the stuff clients want on there - impossible.
@@PaulMcCannWebBuilder Possible but should you really?
I hate web animations for loading shit, like I would rather it just instantly show up and not force me to wait through your need to glamorize the trivial.

This is why u need a product manager

The site looks nice now but u completely removed all functionality. U could have put a button on the top right to switch between create and sign into accs. "get rid of the loading icon"
"and i guess if it needs more time we can put a loading icon"

Good job all you need is a sign in and a funny text whilst it loads like “connecting the mainframe”
1. you have to include the reCAPTCHA text according to their policy
2. Where can I create an account now?
3. remember me check box is clutter?
4. Some countries require you to have an impressum on the bottom of every page (this of course includes the sign in page on mobile)
1. nice but did i ask
2. On the sign in page. if you wanted to make an account, you wouldn't go to the sign in page...
3. Yes. Most apps don't even have "Remember me" because why wouldn't you want to stay logged in?
4. _Some countries_ which countries? And why lmao. Also why not just on the homepage. You don't need a phone number to log in loool.

What stupid logic is “I don’t like talking on the phone?” So you’re going to remove the way for people to talk with a live representative. Completely garbage design philosophy.

UNDERRATED AF✨!
i feel like this is a silent protest against Netflix to not get new customers
now that's what I call a call UI UX redesign.
great redesign of the sign in page
The loading/asyn button state is used when making a call to the server to validate the users login credentials. In your example, If an error was to occur they would jump from a splash loading screen back to the login page which would jar the experience.
Using an asyn button indicates that your data is being confirmed and if an error occurs the fields will be marked with a critical state and a notice can be displayed without displacing the users position, this also allows the user to be informed of ways to solve the issues in the form.
This is probably the most common and most user friendly experience for a login page.
"I don't like the page loading so I deleted it"
"But since the page needs to load I'll add that back in"
You took away all of the buttons 😂

What the fuck. Dude removed literally half of the functionality to make it look marginally better. This guy represents what is wrong with design philosophy today.
The fact that you didn't have the sign in button make everything dissappear except for the logo and have the logo center and then have it play the iconic zoom in animation with the sound hurts my soul.
Every video I've seen of yours turns the apps worse than they were.
“McDonalds doesn’t say welcome, it says welcome back”
Quote of this century
Never once did a McDonald's employee say welcome back
the waffle house has found its new host
Netflix is gonna pull a flappy bird real quick
This reminds me of the time when i went to Behance to get some inspiration for UI as a developer and learned that as beautiful as those UIs may be the practicality of them is absolutely negligible lol
when i go to the McDonalds drive thru they say “alright what do you want to order?” and then get it wrong because of how terribly designed the communication system is
“They say welcome back” Man’s got an achievement that employees remember him 😭😭
