@@BassGSothertype Considering how Slayers magic works, Lina's incantation _IS_ a prayer... Just to a dark god. Modern anime, Megumin: "I can cast an explosion a day, MAYBE TWO! But thats all i can do, i wont learn anything else" 90s Anime, Lina: "Time to grow up, BRAT."
@@MoparNewport I agree with that Megumin hasn't exactly trained anything but her power and cast time, but with her overwhelming power I don't see Lina surviving a single explosion but at the same time Megumin is a glass cannon and I could see Lina just slapping Megumin once for the win, so I guess the win would be up to who gets the first strike
@@lildra9onboy361 Id point out that, esp at the end of the series, Lina has weathered attacks that drop moderate demons and light dragons in their tracks, AND has a permanent connection to 'The Mother of All Things, The Lord of Nightmares' - arguably, Chaos energy itself. Furthermore, Lina is extremely well versed in offensive and defensive magic (as well as healing magic), and has shown to have both passive and active magical defenses at all times. Also, Lina has repeatedly stood point blank range at her own Dragon Slave - literally a nuclear detonation, minus the long-term radiation issue. Sorry. Megumin has ZERO chance against Lina. None what so ever. Megumin can cause some partial-continental damage at best, Lina has access to solar-system-ending spells, possibly greater.
@@MoparNewport I definitely acknowledge that Lina would win any any battle that lasts longer than a few seconds. (Providing both are in character.) As megumin is difficult to Powerscale due to the nature of how her explosion Magic works (the spell circles that appear during her explosion spell have different uses. The spell circles that appear during her explosion spell are there to cast the spell, reduce cast time, increase damage, reduce damage range, destroy souls, absorb souls, control the heat, manipulate the elements trapping them inside the explosion empowering it in the process[though megumin consistently drops the wind barrier for dramatic effect], the rest of the barriers are there to keep all the damage in a condensed area) Because of these factors to evaluate the full power of her explosions we have to look at the wind/ shockwave /crater and scaling off enemies, the explosion spell has defeated. It's because of these factors that I believe megumin by the end of her journey is Moon level(off the scaling that mastered explosion Magic can defeat God's, that are moon level in the verse and megumin is definitely the most advanced explosion user in her verses history by the end of the series). I acknowledge that Lina has more firepower. A Dragon Slave at best seems to match Megumins explosion Magic power by the fourth novel, and while at the end of her journey, her explosions are moon level, she still has nothing compared to a Giga slave(a giga slave in the alternate timeline was seen destroying entire galaxies) but in terms of durability at her best Lina has been seen surviving city level attacks I can see Lina tanking any explosion thrown at her before the 5th novel but anything beyond that and I believe Lina gets literally atomized from the explosion as having moon level destruction condensed into a small area far surpasses any durability feat Lina has shown in her media as a whole. Lina does have a big speed advantage, so she would win if the battle came down to who shoots first as Lina is shown to be massively hypersonic while megumin is shown consistently to be subsonic. Having them both be in character, Lina definitely wins every encounter as megumin at the end of her journey despite being able to throw out an explosion with a simple thought she still prefers to drag out the time for a chant(chanting during a spell literally does nothing to help its just for show and megumin just cant resist showing off) and she has only been seen sending out the explosion quickly with a single thought when frustrated at the enemy before her, when the situation was desperate and when things got personal(the elimination of Wolfbach) so having them both in character Lina easily wins nearly every encounter as megumin would attempt to show off dragging out her cast time for a cool chant leaving her open for attack as Lina with all her experiences and training would immediately recognize that an attack spell is being charged up and very likely blitz Megumin in that moment, with such a large speed difference between them Megumin likely barely registers that she's being rushed by the time she is hit and with her being a glass cannon Lina just has to slap her to knock her out. I only see megumin winning if she realizes Lina is rushing her, and megumin skips through the chant, letting the explosion fire with just a thought. This win condition is only possible thanks to her speed being comparable to Lina and Megumins' average luck stats however Megumin herself has stated that relying on the luck stat is unreliable(Lina and Megumin appear to be equals in terms of intellect although megumins obsession with explosion Magic is definitely a negative in this match-up) Due to the nature of both characters(and the speed difference) I don't think Megumin will even have a chance to get serious so her spamming explosions using Manatite or getting frustrated and instantly firing an explosion are not factors in the match-up. Megumin would have a difficult time just tracking Lina as the Gem Bear(I forgot what it's called) has very comparable speed feats to Lina and megumin could only keep her eye on it for a few seconds before she lost track of it and she herself didn't believe she could catch it with an explosion so Lina getting caught by the explosion isnt impossible but she definitely blitzes Megumin 99% of the time only losing when Megumins luck stat kicks in and allows her to land an explosion. While megumin has impressive destruction feats, she lacks any durability feats. Lina simply has to punch hard enough to kill megumin or use literally any offensive spell she has in her arsenal, while megumins' only way to kill Lina is her explosion Magic and Megumin being in character very likely throws away her only chance of victory by trying to show off how cool she is leaving her open to be blitzed by faster opponents and Lina is definitely has the speed to blitz Megumin (scaling off Megumins own statement on the Gem Bears speed that Lina appears to scale 2 along with their different reaction times to lightning) I also believe that Megumin wouldn't be caught off guard by most of Linas magic as she has witnessed or has knowledge of the same or very similar Magic in her own verse(figuring out how new magic works & it's uses at a glance is child's play for megumin even before she completed her training) so I believe she would be on guard and observing for any magic that gets casted but there are a few things that would catch megumin off guard first is the weapon creation(this exists in her world but only works for living creatures & golems so if Lina created a weapon Megumin would very likely assume the weapon is alive as she has witnessed living Armor so a living weapon isn't too far fetched for her to assume) Next is the Giga Slave(explosion Magic is the peak of destructive magic power in her verse so the Giga slave surpassing the explosion would be a huge shock that megumin wouldn't see coming), next is her chants actually amplifying her(chanting does nothing in the konosuba verse and is just for show so megumin witnessing Lina's chants that actually help amplify magic power would also be a shock for her) lastly Flow Break(flow break would be particularly devastating as Megumin has no way to predict or anticipate it as nothing even similar like Flow Break exists in her world! Flow Break is capable of completely shutting down explosion Magic Leaving megumin defenseless regardless of if she's using Manatite or not and due to the nature of how Manatite exists and how Flow Break works Flow Break may very well destroy all the Manatite in a single cast even if it can't it would definitely render them useless due to the flow of magic inside Manatite) In conclusion, Megumin definitely has the firepower to kill Lina, but Lina, with her advantage in experience, speed, arsenal and the way both characters approach combat, Lina would either avoid the explosion, shut it down with Flow Break or would not allow a single explosion to fire and completely dominates megumin with speed and power with megumin only being able to win in a few specific conditions that very likely wouldn't happen as a few of these win conditions rely on her being out of character, in a desperate situation, her luck stat kicking in or uses the Manatite to launch. Lina has options for victory in nearly every possible situation against Megumin. While they both can end each other in a single strike, Lina has far more options and reliable methods than gambling on a single explosion to hit her target. Because of these reasons, Lina achieving victory over Megumin is practically a certainty.
I remember when she had a limit to the number of dragon slaves she could unleash. I also remember she used to cast other spells like explosion and explosion array and fireball and super mega explosion array.
Moral of the story: Unless you're a god, death awaits all who insult Lina Inverse. Ah, who am I kidding? Even the power of a deity won't save you from that wrath. Pokota's just lucky she settled on casting a mere magically amplified Dragon Slave, and didn't go straight for a Ragna Blade.

I saw this, and the only thing I could do was sit back, and be like "Oh shit.... Ummm.... Bye guy! Have fun after death!" I'm surprised she hasn't blown the earth up with that spell.
How about in a future Death Battle they have Lina battle Edward Elric lol. It would be the SHORTEST battle in Death Battle history lol. Though it would be the FLATTEST Death Battle in Death Battle history. I'll go find a underground bunker before those two find me lol.
I feel like that battle would ultimately come down to distance, and whether Ed gives Lina the time and space she needs to launch her more powerful spells. Lina could totally obliterate Ed with some of her high level black magic, but his aggressive fighting style would probably make that difficult in a one-on-one fight.
@@MarginalSC And yet despite that Lina frequently finds herself at close range against opponents she doesn't need to be, meaning it would boil down to whether or not she'd actually utilize her flight, or if Ed would be able to work around that by improving with raised earth platforms, or hurling projectiles.
@@notroyjonesjr2.099 Lina would obliterate megumin mainly because 1.) Lina has multiple Spell in her arsenal while Megumin only has one, and 2.) Megumin's Explosion would make her unable to move for several hours after each usage of that Spell while most of Lina's spells do not have such a handicap...
I honestly have never seen her more flipped out than this angry yeah she has been more angry at a lot of people, but flipped out like this.... perfect scene, except the clouds should move a little slower and it should get slightly more darker. Perfect for the destruction she unleashes.

Along with Eric Stuart and Veronica Taylor and Crispin Freeman😁😁😁😁😁😁😁. Fun fact Funimation got the original cast back because they knew that the fans would know if they changed the voice cast so they specifically chose to do this at NYAV Post instead of their studio in Texas so they could get the original cast back to reprise their roles.
@@briansivley2001 That's actually only half true, when asked if he would be willing to reprise his role as Zelgadis, Crispin Freeman told Funimation that the only way he would even consider doing it again is if Eric Stuart, Lisa Ortiz, and Veronica Taylor all agreed to reprise their roles. Eric Stuart revealed that in an interview he did at a con from a few years ago when he was asked how it felt working on seasons 4 and 5 after not having done Gourrey in so long by that point. Another fun fact, although I'm not sure if it could be considered fun or not, Eric, who had already moved from New York to Nashville, Tennessee by the time seasons 4 and 5 were in the works needed to go back to New York for the recording, and almost had to cancel at the last minute because he had been sick the entire two weeks prior and was still sick at the time he flew back to do the recording. I've always thought of Louise as a sort of chibi-Lina anyway. Short, underdeveloped, horrible temper, mildly psychotic, and with waaaaay too much power. Louise is arguably angrier/more annoying but her levels of wanton destruction are less catastrophic than Lina's.
Louise have self esteem issues reaching way farther than her chest size for long time she thought that she is fair of a mage in society where it is very important.
Well considering that Lina has travel with two well endowed women I really don't blame her for having boobie envy. Compared to Naga and Amelia she is rather small.
Ah yes, Lina being Lina, unleashing what is essentially a magical nuke at even the slightest obstacle or annoyance… I forgot how much fun this series was! ^^
I only know about Slayers' existence form a VHS in the back section of a Rent-a-Buy i was doing an unpaid practice job at. Who knows what gems are buried in the distant past if you simply stumble upon them??
something I never understood about the Dragon Slav spell is it's essentially a massive blast of super heated demonic energy that destroys nearly anything it touches. However some how the Spell only randomly kills 1 maybe two people? Shouldn't that spell be lethal 95% of the time to ANYBODY within it's blast radius?? It's fricken massive release of super heated demonic energy! Not to mention that kid is in a stuffed animal's body that would easily burn to basic fire.. this spell lacks basic physics.. even by anime standards.. Am I some how wrong with this?? I mean did I miss something important or what?
Magical barriers and sub-dimensions are primary reasons, aside from plot in season 3, of how whoever this thing is aimed at survives it. Lina herself is protected by barrier, so is Zelgadiss, so is Amelia, Gourry is protected by sword of light (just like Pokota in this). It would make sense in a fantasy world that "magic is solution to more magic"
If I'm remembering how it was explained, in the only Slayers novel I've read, the beam from the "Dragon Slave" spell is more of a laser pointer where most of the spells power travels on a sub-reality layer to the target. On contact with the target (or where ever the "beam" stops) all the sub-reality power enters reality, & depending on magical resistance at the "rift" location, or inside it if the target has a "Astral" presence like people/monsters/daemons, explodes outward. -Hits a mountain which has no resistance, you get a magical "Nuke" -Hits something with good resistance or lots of magic power, smaller crater (or no AOE damage) but still dead target... maybe, depends on target -Hit the source of spells magic, in this case Shabranigdo, nothing happens & he/it kills you for being dumb (Also true for any spell that "asks" for permission to use someone's power as a magic attack, main other example being the "Gaav Flare") Depending on distance from impact & what it hits, a regular barrier spell (Or Plot Armor) might save you if your strong enough. In the kids case he had a replica "Sword of Light" which can absorb a spell that powerful, although I bet the sword "dusted" after thus dis-spelling it (Original sword could hold a Giga Slave, which is WAY more powerful)... doesn't stop the "Laser Pointer" from wreaking shit in transit since it's still a faction of the full spells power though. Not sure if this was said in the anime if it was it should have been by the same guy who did in the novel, Xellos, probably in season 4 or 5 since that involves the enemy from that novel, the Sacred Beast armor.
In the Novels everyone is much less cavalier about throwing around spells. When watching the anime imagine there's two versions of every spell, the one for comedic scenes and the one for when they're serious. The comedic version doesn't kill.
Lord of Darkness of the four worlds, I now call upon you, grant me all the power you possess. Darkness beyond twilight, crimson beyond blood that flows. Buried in the stream of time is where your power flows. I pledge myself to conquer all the foes who stand before the mighty gift bestowed in my unworthy hands. Let the fools who stand before me be destroyed by the power you and I possess... DRAGON SLAVE

rule #1 of overkill.... if you can use overwhelming force for the slightest provocation THEN DO!!! rule #2 Ramp it up a bit fist cus escalation is FUN!
This one scene perfectly sums up what all the "jokes" in the show seem to revolve around. Someone calls Lina the flattest girl ever even though she's clearly not, she has a violent response to this, rinse and repeat. And then people unironically say the OVAs weren't better.
Don't forget Gourry, he just gets hit and stomped on. And you better not try to hurt Gourry or she risk upping the power to enough to destroy the entire world if she does it wrong!
yeah but more powerfull! but if the Kamehameha be use by Super sayin 4 or god super saying is now more powerfull! but is nothing if you compare to giga slave! and is kiss of the mutivere if the user fail the spell!
She never uses any spells that call on Dark Star, the Dragon Slave calls on Shabranidgu instead-- who isn't dead, just split up and sealed. Actually, for that matter Dark Star isn't dead either, just locked out.
Rena Lanford - The Dragon Slave is Shabby, but the amplification Talismans call upon the powers of the Dark Lords of the Four Worlds, one of whom is Darkstar.
I wouldn't say either were filler, considering they were actually based off of the light novels, save for Try's ending which broke away from that(but was retcon'd with Revolution).
I personally would like to see a fight between Lina vs Edward Elric that would be hysterical 😂 😂😂 😂😂 😂😂 😂😂 😂😂 😂😂 😂😂 😂😂 😂. Though they would have to battle FAR AWAY from any towns in order to keep the death of innocent people to a minimum thanks to their tempers lol.

I wanna see her vs Megumin
@@gurvmlk Ed would have issues with that since Lina can fly.
This is why I'll always be nice and never say anything bad to Lina.
I honestly have never seen her more flipped out than this angry yeah she has been more angry at a lot of people, but flipped out like this....
perfect scene, except the clouds should move a little slower and it should get slightly more darker. Perfect for the destruction she unleashes.
I have, when she played magic-tennis against that green haired nutter. WTF was her name.... Martina. Also, in i think that same episode, she double tapped Martina with a pair of unamped Dragon Slaves. She was *THAT* pissed.
DRAGON SLAVE? DID DOTA REALLY COPIED THE LINA HERE?
That's exactly what happened.
if you pay attention to the lore/wikia you would know her name is a joke
The Great Chicken Slayer This the reference for Lina in dota, one of the oldest heroes there
Slayers is older than DOTA, fust for reference.
So yes DOTA dev is Slayers fan and put her in there.
She's a tribute for sure.
Pakota is like Terriormon, only hilarious and is a BEAST!
Tails the Fox roasted Amy Rose
Nice to hear Lisa Ortiz still voicing Lina. She is probably the only good thing that has ever been associated with Slayers English dubs...
Along with Eric Stuart and Veronica Taylor and Crispin Freeman😁😁😁😁😁😁😁. Fun fact Funimation got the original cast back because they knew that the fans would know if they changed the voice cast so they specifically chose to do this at NYAV Post instead of their studio in Texas so they could get the original cast back to
reprise their roles.
He said he remembers very little about most of the recording sessions because of how sick he was while recording.
@@briansivley2001 Eric Stuart is a terrible voice actor!
@@MichaelM28 At least he's better than the 4kids Sanji voice.
@@beccacroce7380 idk I think he did a good job as xellos at least sure manny may prefer xelloss Japanese voice but I thought David moo managed to fit xelloss character really well
I've always thought of Louise as a sort of chibi-Lina anyway.
I've known chicks who react like that when their boobs are insulted
I miss when Lisa Ortiz used her normal voice for Lina instead of this high-pitched squeaky voice…
Her normal voice is better than her Amy Rose voice.
I guess in Japan any bust that isn't a B or C cup is considered flat huh?
Jakegothicsnake Bust starts with B.
Well considering that Lina has travel with two well endowed women I really don't blame her for having boobie envy. Compared to Naga and Amelia she is rather small.
Oh boy, Kiss your fuzzy-ass good-bye, Pokota!
Ah yes, Lina being Lina, unleashing what is essentially a magical nuke at even the slightest obstacle or annoyance…
I forgot how much fun this series was! ^^
0:46 ..........so you have chosen death
I came here from a Sonic and the Black Knight.
For some strange reasion I imagion One Winged Angle playing when Lina gets really pissed of.
I imagine the Undertaker’s entrance theme for that…
Dragon Slave:

What we should expect in term of collateral?
The Alucard amount. LOL
The Lina amount. RUN FOOLS!!!
Pokota unlocked acheivement: DARWIN AWARD - Taunt Lina about her figure.
O.o lina angry I'm scared.
There is some truth to it, one does not want to anger Megumi Hayashibara and be on the receiving end of her wrath, she shows no mercy to offenders
One of my favorite anime when I was younger. I’m 37 years old.
Wh-what the F-BOMB was he thinking?! O[]o"
There is no GREATER SUICIDE than what he just committed here folks! *Sprints across the ocean in terror*
I only know about Slayers' existence form a VHS in the back section of a Rent-a-Buy i was doing an unpaid practice job at. Who knows what gems are buried in the distant past if you simply stumble upon them??
King Arthur: RUN AWAY!!!!
something I never understood about the Dragon Slav spell is it's essentially a massive blast of super heated demonic energy that destroys nearly anything it touches.
-Hits a mountain which has no resistance, you get a magical "Nuke"
-Hits something with good resistance or lots of magic power, smaller crater (or no AOE damage) but still dead target... maybe, depends on target
-Hit the source of spells magic, in this case Shabranigdo, nothing happens & he/it kills you for being dumb (Also true for any spell that "asks" for permission to use someone's power as a magic attack, main other example being the "Gaav Flare")
Depending on distance from impact & what it hits, a regular barrier spell (Or Plot Armor) might save you if your strong enough.

Whenever you say that to Lina, get down on your knees and ask for forgiveness
You can ask, but you won’t get it…
Shes not even that flat
Lord of Darkness of the four worlds, I now call upon you, grant me all the power you possess. Darkness beyond twilight, crimson beyond blood that flows. @@joshuaponder1775Flawless Victory! FATALITY! BRUTALITY!
Insult a girl's chest and she goes she hulk.
Let that be a lesson to you...!
Lina chill out
Lina got called flat-chested. There's no holding her back after that.
0:35 imagine him saying that to cozy glow as an alicorn
Never insult Lina, otherwise she'll turn into Lucy from Elfen Lied.
I know a girl that has a short fuse like that. If i said that to her there wouldn't be a hole on this planet natural or military grade that id be safe in.
Oh, who is she? (I apologize for prying)
Uh-oh, She snapped
sounds far better than the other eng dub i saw before coming here. might be the same voice actress though. at least this is an improvement rather than other way around. this one actually sounds epic.
Okay, I've got watch this series after I'm done with the Record of Lodoss War saga.
I love Zelgadis, he's so cute
What’s worse being killed by yuno gasai or being tortured by lina inverse?
Did Amy just straight up murder Tails
That dragon slave! It's over 9000!
rule #1 of overkill.... if you can use overwhelming force for the slightest provocation THEN DO!!!
rule #2 Ramp it up a bit fist cus escalation is FUN!
Nuclear launch detected
That little rabbit had it coming.
And this is why Lina is best girl in all of Anime XD
This one scene perfectly sums up what all the "jokes" in the show seem to revolve around. Someone calls Lina the flattest girl ever even though she's clearly not, she has a violent response to this, rinse and repeat.
And then people unironically say the OVAs weren't better.
I love lina she's savage
Don't fuck with the Inverse.
Don't forget Gourry, he just gets hit and stomped on. And you better not try to hurt Gourry or she risk upping the power to enough to destroy the entire world if she does it wrong!
In the words of Abe Lincoln: You F***ed Up!
Well that seems a little overboard.
Oh trust me, this is a natural reflex action from her, lol
No such thing with Lina Inverse
pokata you done goofed
Oh I remember this old anime show slayer revolution it was one of my favorite animation I was young kid plus it was cool and funny.
Lina was more calm, smart and tolerant at the very beginning of the series. sigh ... :(
SHOTS FIRED!!!!!!!!
or edward from full metal alchemist when he's called short
Dragon Slave, Kamehameha...same thing, different color.
yeah but more powerfull! but if the Kamehameha be use by Super sayin 4 or god super saying is now more powerfull! but is nothing if you compare to giga slave! and is kiss of the mutivere if the user fail the spell!
Master Roshi would like to have a word with you about that…
Tails and amy are arguing
the little fuzzy guy did deserve that
Isn't Lina supposed to be unable to summon the power of Darkstar after the events of Try?
She never uses any spells that call on Dark Star, the Dragon Slave calls on Shabranidgu instead-- who isn't dead, just split up and sealed. Actually, for that matter Dark Star isn't dead either, just locked out.
Rena Lanford - The Dragon Slave is Shabby, but the amplification Talismans call upon the powers of the Dark Lords of the Four Worlds, one of whom is Darkstar.
Try was filler and so was this season apparently
I wouldn't say either were filler, considering they were actually based off of the light novels, save for Try's ending which broke away from that(but was retcon'd with Revolution).
Rena Lanford If Dark Star is locked out, his talisman shouldn't be working. It wasn't working in Try, maybe because he stopped it.
Two words:Sonic X. She was Amy's voice there, and in all the games from Shadow the Hedgehog through Unleashed.
Actually she went all the way up to Sonic and the Black Knight
Natsu vs Lina would be a fight I would love to see !
It wouldn't be the dragon slave van kill Dragons. So Natsu would die if get hit by it.
Pixels And The Slayers Revolution
All this because she was called flat...
Didn't Goury call her a flat chested little girl when they first met?
Overlord Laharl-Chan Things are different when you're young and horny.
someone should have warned that guy what happens to those who "mention certain things about lina to her face"
Good thing he didn't call her flatter than the Great Plains.
