I feel like the reason they didn't go with just martyn is because he is pretty old and it would be hard on him to fully voice an entire cast just by himself for a feature length film
8:45 You know? With enough technology we could have 64 players at once. And at every lap the three quarters of them in the behind are eliminated from the race, till only four players are left fighting for the first, second and third place.
Dunno if I agree with your logic on the cast. That does tend to be the case but not too often. Hell, Jim Carry as Doctor Eggman in the Sonic movie is universally loved and everyone says he is the best version of Eggman that isn't the main series one and the movie turned out great
Highlights for me: Kirby and the Forgotten Land, first ever 3D Kirby game! Ninji is coming to Mario Golf Super Rush! More Metroid Dread, and with cool voice-overs too! Dr. Mario 64 as one of the launch games for Nintendo 64 on Nintendo Switch Online! (played that a lot as a kid) Original Paper Mario and BANJO-FLIPPING-KAZOOIE are coming to Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo 64 library on Nintendo Switch Online, probably the best announcement from this Direct! Castlevania Advance Collection, some of the best games in the series! Deltarune Chapter 2 coming to Switch, I will GLADLY double-dip for this game! Also, that Toby dog dance gives me life! Foreman Spike, my favorite obscure Mario character, is confirmed to be in the Super Mario Bros. movie, and his voice actor, Sebastian Maniscalo, is getting top billing along with the main characters, implying that he'll have a major role! That's a win for me! And he's even got an Emblem, and given that Kamek's emblem is from Mario Kart Tour, maybe Foreman Spike will appear in Mario Kart Tour? Or other Mario spin-offs? I can only hope! Charles Martinet being in the Super Mario Bros. movie... Hopefully he's Wario and Waluigi. Disappointments: No new Wario Land, Rhythm Heaven, Star Fox, F-Zero, etc. (Star Fox 64 and F-Zero X don't count, though it is cool that they're coming) Mario Party Superstars only has 5 boards, and none of them are Waluigi's Island. Having to pay extra for Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games on Nintendo Switch Online. Honorable Mentions (not a highlight or disappointment but still worth mentioning for me): ActRaiser Renaissance, I recognize ActRaiser as a cult classic, cool to see it remade. The cast announcement for the Super Mario Bros. movie. It's... Well, it's a very Illumination cast, I'll say that much. (Chris Pratt as Mario, what the actual heck... and Jack Black as Bowser, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, this is just too surreal) Splatoon 3... wish I could say more about it, but the Mario movie cast overwhelmed me at that point. Bayonetta 3 trailer... finally.
KOTOR is being ported by the same devs of the remake Aspyr, it seems they knew the Switch couldn't handle the remake, but wanted Switch players to also has the ability to play.
The fact they said cameos plural makes me think that They probably wanted him to do Mario but he probably said no but didn’t mind still being in the movie
I started doing the whole Metroid series because I had the same idea. My stream schedule is super limited because of my kids so I can only stream for 8 hours a week (two days) and I had to start back in July to get done in time. I started Fusion today, and I’m probably not even gonna do Other M.
The last 3d movement kirby game was city trial in kirby air ride I believe. I loved that mode. I am VERY excited to see what they do with this game. It also proves a theory I had that Void termina from star allies was a test to see if a 3d fight style could work for kirby games.
I’m kinda upset at the Mario Movie cast but also like… imagine Charles Martinet trying to do the Mario voice enough for a feature length film. That would hurt.
My only possible assumption as to why Charles is not voicing Mario, that isn't just blatant Hollywood star power, is his age and the fact he'd have to voice both Mario and Luigi, and potentially much more. Let's also remember that while he does do a lot of their voices, they aren't feature length films but rather short bursts since overall the cast don't really "say" all that much in the games.
You ever seen any of the meet and greets he’s done as Mario at NYC Nintendo and E3? He can talk as Mario and Luigi for a while, in full sentences no less, but then again, those aren’t feature length productions.
All I really have to say here is that I came in with a healthy expectation that they were going to talk about Winter launches as they advertised and expected to see some Advance Wars. Somehow they danced entirely around Advance Wars and the like and most showed off things that were coming out today, next month, or mid-late next year, the Mario movie included. Not upset, just baffled by the misdirection from the advertising. I guess a few other things: looking forward to the next step in 3D Kirby platforming after Kirby 3D and Blowout Blast, hearing the Roost made me tear up a bit, hopefully more devs can learn from Triangle Strategy and Hades Beta, hope that Expansion Pack isn’t too pricey for just the games or if it is pricey include other features too (or better yet just improve the internet service for everyone), Dread can’t come soon enough, and I’m happy for everyone who got what they wanted even if they didn’t know they wanted it like Reese for Actraiser and all the Bayo fans who’ve been holding out for Bayo 3. Your faith did not go unrewarded. Oh, and hopefully F-Zero X having online means we’re one step closer to having a 32-man online F-Zero race some day.
I love how the chat says they love the new look for Bayo, and almost 24 hrs later, i'm still like i don't know if i hate or i love it, she looks like a nerd and i don't like that but i know it's reminiscent from how she looked when she was a child as was shown in the first game. As for the Direct in general, for me, it was okay, not good, not bad, just okay, like 7/10. I'm glad after years i've got to see Bayo again, i know it's still in development but it looked kinda crunchy like, it looks worse than Bayo2, and Bayo2 looked good. And the only thing aside Bayo3 that got me with the hunger for more, was Kirby, like, it actually legit impressed me how it looks, it looks fantastic and i want to see more of it, i haven't been interested on a Kirby game since Canvas Curse, and that game is awesome and it's from 2006 IIRC and Forgotten City really made me consider it for my library
Tom do you not realize that January, February and March all still count as “winter”? Just cause something’s coming out in 2022 doesn’t mean it’s not in winter…
Mario movie is comedy btw, decision made by Illumination and need star power cast to attract more people to come watch it. Knowing their studio, they LOVE milking it.
The reason Charles Martinet isn't voicing Mario and Luigi is because he voices both, and Luigi is evidently going to be a main character, and you almost never want 2 main characters voiced by the same guy in a movie, just look at Adam Sandler in Eight Crazy Nights, and you'll see why. And it'd be jarring if he voiced one but not the other, so I can definitely see why they opted to just have him voice neither. EDIT: Addendum, but I've also heard Charles do full sentences in his Mario voice and if I'm being honest, it'd get old FAST in a movie, ESPECIALLY if it's twofold if he's also voicing Luigi. He's good in short bursts, not for long periods of time like a movie. Point I'm trying to make is I don't think they're shafting Charles Martinet in favor of star power, and it's more out of necessity.
Out of everyone I've seen do reactions you are the only one that thought of Diddy Kong Racings mechanic with the pick-ups, but you also didn't notice that Bayonetta's three summons can be called during regular combat in open areas.
The comment of Bayonetta was something that all the other people that I've seen haven't noted or openly stated about, as you where the last reaction video I watched at the time on the Nintendo Direct.
Mario cast being what it is, probably means that Nintendo had little say in the casting choices. They scrubbed M!Byleth's English VA out as soon as his shit came to light.
@@CrimsonRedHeat9 I can understand scrubbing Byleth's English VA because he's actually guilty of doing something. Chris Pratt on the other hand, he hasn't actually done anything wrong. People are basically after him because another celebrity made the assumption his church is anti-lgbt by association. Therefore Chris Pratt must be anti-lgbt too. That makes zero sense, it's a guilt by association fallacy.
I don't know about the Mario movie but I'm very curious how it'll turn out if not for Jack Black being Bowser. Other than that, Kirby, Metroid, and a lot of rpg titles have caught my interest.
17:00 I actually brought this up with someone before. I would be less iffy aboit cloud versions of Switch games if there was a upgrade path for a native version on the Switch 2 or whatever Nintendo calls their next console.
The disappointments for were the Smash reveal happening while I’m at work AGAIN and the Nintendo online stuff. I think I'm the only one excited for Voice of Cards. But it's a Yoko Taro game! So it's either going to be great, or shit, but either way it will be a *wild* ride.
Well think about it this way if it was charles doing all his characters he would pretty much be doing everyone but peach, do you know how tiring and time consuming that would be, especially for someone his age, it rather have big star names than charles working to the bone, also he's probably giving tips on how to voice them better, also at least he makes cameos
Btw I didn't catch that the Mario Movie was animated so... you can.. imagine what my brain was thinking with the cast revealed... also didn't know it was a thing until this direct
sadly i think the mario movie will be a kids movie and will need the star power to get parents to the movie. the names are known and for the most part wholesome and entertaining. of course if this spins off many more movies using game assets then maybe the voice actors can try to get their foot in the door with the movies only being able to get one big name and paring them with many smaller in the future , but this would all depend on a mario movie not bom-oming
What's wrong with Martine one he is getting old, two he would have to voice multiple characters for a movie which is entirely different from voicing video games especially if the characters you voice barely have any lines beside looped tracks. Three he is actually working as production staff and will cameo. Four only a few die hard fans know who he is and finally people seem to forget he can refuse to play a role.
Same, tho that’s also because he’s the only one I recognize by name, and I know he has the ability to make a piece of moldy bread become Best Character with his voice
I love all the new jokes about Luigi crossing over with Always Sunny thanks to Charlie Day, they seem like they come from a place of positivity for how he's gonna do as Luigi.
I'm super worried about the Super Mario movie now. Don't get me wrong, those are all great actors, but something studios need to realize is good actors does not mean good voice actors. There have been plenty of movies where big name actors did terrible voice work.

2:38 Yoshi's Tropical Island? Make sure that ProtonJon is away from that board as soon as possible.
GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME!
17:28 - Tom, I made that same joke in my reaction video! XD
I feel like the reason they didn't go with just martyn is because he is pretty old and it would be hard on him to fully voice an entire cast just by himself for a feature length film
8:47 an mans hopes and dreams crushed in an instant.
8:45 You know? With enough technology we could have 64 players at once.
And at every lap the three quarters of them in the behind are eliminated from the race, till only four players are left fighting for the first, second and third place.
They’re bringing the Shadowrun video games back to life, YES!!!!!!!!!
if we can get Banjo kazooie, then we can for sure get Diddy Kong Racing
And Donkey Kong 64
And Tooie
"If you need star power to sell your movie it means the movie is not good"
PIXAR films has entered the chat.
Dunno if I agree with your logic on the cast. That does tend to be the case but not too often. Hell, Jim Carry as Doctor Eggman in the Sonic movie is universally loved and everyone says he is the best version of Eggman that isn't the main series one and the movie turned out great
Highlights for me:
Kirby and the Forgotten Land, first ever 3D Kirby game!
Ninji is coming to Mario Golf Super Rush!
More Metroid Dread, and with cool voice-overs too!
Dr. Mario 64 as one of the launch games for Nintendo 64 on Nintendo Switch Online! (played that a lot as a kid)
Original Paper Mario and BANJO-FLIPPING-KAZOOIE are coming to Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo 64 library on Nintendo Switch Online, probably the best announcement from this Direct!
Disappointments:
No
new Wario Land, Rhythm Heaven, Star Fox, F-Zero, etc. (Star Fox 64 and
F-Zero X don't count, though it is cool that they're coming)
Mario Party Superstars only has 5 boards, and none of them are Waluigi's Island.
Having to pay extra for Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games on Nintendo Switch Online.
Honorable Mentions (not a highlight or disappointment but still worth mentioning for me):
ActRaiser Renaissance, I recognize ActRaiser as a cult classic, cool to see it remade.
The cast announcement for the Super Mario Bros. movie. It's... Well, it's a very Illumination cast, I'll say that much. (Chris Pratt as Mario, what the actual heck... and Jack Black as Bowser, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, this is just too surreal)
Splatoon 3... wish I could say more about it, but the Mario movie cast overwhelmed me at that point.
Bayonetta 3 trailer... finally.
Chris Pratt did well as a voice in Lego Movie. I think he'll be fine. Best choice? probably not. But he won't kill it.
Other M is irrelevant anyway, keep up the grind through the main line series, you're on the last mainline game anyway
The last 3d movement kirby game was city trial in kirby air ride I believe. I loved that mode. I am VERY excited to see what they do with this game. It also proves a theory I had that Void termina from star allies was a test to see if a 3d fight style could work for kirby games.
So, this means Astral Chain is canon to Bayonetta?
I’m kinda upset at the Mario Movie cast but also like… imagine Charles Martinet trying to do the Mario voice enough for a feature length film. That would hurt.
31:08 That certainly sounds like Illumination
My only possible assumption as to why Charles is not voicing Mario, that isn't just blatant Hollywood star power, is his age and the fact he'd have to voice both Mario and Luigi, and potentially much more. Let's also remember that while he does do a lot of their voices, they aren't feature length films but rather short bursts since overall the cast don't really "say" all that much in the games.
You ever seen any of the meet and greets he’s done as Mario at NYC Nintendo and E3? He can talk as Mario and Luigi for a while, in full sentences no less, but then again, those aren’t feature length productions.
@@Rexaura888 I recall when he did the voice acting for WarioWare Gold he strained his throat. Definitely still questionable choice with Chris Pratt.
Those actors for the mario movie have to be doing something correct otherwise miyamoto would have cracked down hard
23:24 I went "NO" for the N64 controller. Don't want another blister on my thumb like old times.
I am looking for Jack Black Bowser!
Josh is gonna be like
"Banjo on SWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITCH!!!!"
Tom should become the new wario because he sounds amazing as wario
Tom do you not realize that January, February and March all still count as “winter”? Just cause something’s coming out in 2022 doesn’t mean it’s not in winter…
The Mario movie is giving me "When Mars Attacks" vibes.
I estimate that the NSO Expansion Pack will be 25-50% the cost of the normal plan.
Mario movie is comedy btw, decision made by Illumination and need star power cast to attract more people to come watch it. Knowing their studio, they LOVE milking it.
Most if not all major Hollywood studio animated film casts star power. It has been that way for ages.
From what I could tell, we arent dealing with Paradiso enemies or Inferno enemies
I was not prepared for Kirby New Vegas
I haven't played much of Bayonetta. I plan to change that before 3 comes out.
Probably. Still will go see it, but probably how it worked
What shit came to light? Curious
@@xRagingDragon04x Abusive behabior to other VAs.
@@CrimsonRedHeat9 Also broke NDA by announcing he was Byleth early.
I am Excited for Mario Movie & Kirby & Chocob GP & Disney
I don't know about the Mario movie but I'm very curious how it'll turn out if not for Jack Black being Bowser. Other than that, Kirby, Metroid, and a lot of rpg titles have caught my interest.
Prediction: Tabuu is the final Smash fighter. I mean, they already have a good foundation for his moveset from Brawl
my god i would love that
That would be stupidly out of left field, but also glorious.
…and also inflicting massive PTSD with his RRoD attack
I never realized until this direct that those red things on Ninji were buttons. I always thought they were Pikachu cheeks or something.
Aww, that'd be cute tho~
the doubters are gonna eat their words :troll:
17:00 I actually brought this up with someone before. I would be less iffy aboit cloud versions of Switch games if there was a upgrade path for a native version on the Switch 2 or whatever Nintendo calls their next console.
Vampire dragon, that is all
Let the -Laugh &- *Salt* Begin! 29:20
The disappointments for were the Smash reveal happening while I’m at work AGAIN and the Nintendo online stuff. It’s really dumb that you have to switch to a different plan to get the new stuff instead of it just being added on, when there’s stuff like Xbox Game Pass that gives you hundreds of games for one simple payment plan.
I think I'm the only one excited for Voice of Cards. But it's a Yoko Taro game! So it's either going to be great, or shit, but either way it will be a *wild* ride.
Well think about it this way if it was charles doing all his characters he would pretty much be doing everyone but peach, do you know how tiring and time consuming that would be, especially for someone his age, it rather have big star names than charles working to the bone, also he's probably giving tips on how to voice them better, also at least he makes cameos
i want the new bayo look in smash now
Btw I didn't catch that the Mario Movie was animated so... you can.. imagine what my brain was thinking with the cast revealed... also didn't know it was a thing until this direct
Anya Taylor and Jack Black? Lol I’m definitely excited for the Mario movie
sadly i think the mario movie will be a kids movie and will need the star power to get parents to the movie. the names are known and for the most part wholesome and entertaining. of course if this spins off many more movies using game assets then maybe the voice actors can try to get their foot in the door with the movies only being able to get one big name and paring them with many smaller in the future , but this would all depend on a mario movie not bom-oming
This direct didn't have anything I'm particularly interested in except JACK BLACK
Time for Tom to play Paper Mario again!
Jack black was the only choice I unequivocally love
Same, tho that’s also because he’s the only one I recognize by name, and I know he has the ability to make a piece of moldy bread become Best Character with his voice
I love all the new jokes about Luigi crossing over with Always Sunny thanks to Charlie Day, they seem like they come from a place of positivity for how he's gonna do as Luigi.
The cast feels like one of the world's most expensive shitposts in internet history.
31:13 *thinks back to 2020 Dr. Dolittle and Emoji Movie*
I'm super worried about the Super Mario movie now. Don't get me wrong, those are all great actors, but something studios need to realize is good actors does not mean good voice actors. There have been plenty of movies where big name actors did terrible voice work.
Did... Did they clone Judd?
3D KIRBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gwent, the RPG? You mean Thronebreaker?
