i dont get what you mean by films like the Godzilla ones and Transformers ones being forced to include humans. they always had humans. sure they weren’t the main focus, but especially with Godzilla, the humans are needed and have been in every single Godzilla film as one of the main focuses besides the Kaiju and destruction.

A few added nerd notes to some of the details: You mentioned that the "Jewel" plot kind of came out of nowhere in Sonic 2. That's very interesting! I didn't notice that. Not because I disagree with you, but i do think Sonic fans wouldn't notice it as a plot hole, since we've been waiting for them to use the Chaos emeralds. The Green one is known as the Master Emerald. So when you would call it a "Jewel", my ears hurt. Lol. But only Sonic fans would care. Lol. Also, in Sonic 3, most of the plot is taken directly from the Video Game, Sonic Adventure 2, including the Shadow-Maria story, as well as some of the action sequences. Even the first line Sonic says as he's jumping out of the helicopter is straight from the games. The song Live and Learn for the final battle was also taken from Sonic Adventure 2. All of these details made Sonic fans lose their minds. But to watch the review from someone who is not familiar with the franchise and still enjoy the movie means that the 3rd movie knocked it out of the park. Thank you!!!

I also can't wait to see what they do with her character, because I was only 11 when Amy first appeared in Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast and I didn't get much of a chance to get to know her but now I'm thinking she's fooled us all. One of the thing that bothering me about Sonic 3 is how often they cut from a very tense moment like Sonic & Knuckles talking about responsibility and not using the emerald for revenge to a scene Wade playing with the emerald or the epic fight scene between Sonic & Shadow to a very goofy Jim Carrey spanking another Jim Carrey's butt. It cuts the dramatic moments to the goofy comedy real quick
Imagine your third movie being so peak that it manages to bully disney 😂 (If you told me 4 years ago that the sonic movie franchise would have disney weeping on the floor I'd low key think you're from another reality)
The two Jim Carrey were a bit much for me in three and the finale in two was sooooo good that it's competing with the third since I feel that Robotnik was also better in two and the pay off to the wedding scene was very funny to me so I can't even hate on the humans, even Sonic being characterized as more of a kid than this too-cool-for-school absolute hero made him more endearing to me. Overall I think Sonic two is my favorite with three very close behind.
Personally I felt like the plot of Sonic 1 was a bit weak and had some plot holes so I would place it in B tier and Sonic 2 in A tier because I didn’t mind the wedding subplot too much.
