When June and Richard learned that Baha'u'llah, the prophet and founder of the Baha'i Faith, “once compared the coloured people to the black pupil of the eye surrounded by the white,” it gave them a great sense of comfort and happiness. Because, as Abdu'l-Baha, the son of Baha'u'llah and the authorized interpreter of the Baha'i writings, explained, “In this black pupil you see the reflection of that which is before it, and through it the light of the Spirit shines forth.”
