Awesome! This is exactly what I want as a new rider as well. I want to feel confident before getting something with more power. Going for the course in a month with zero experience. I’m nervous and excited! Originally was looking at an Iron 883 but I went to a local dealership and sat on this Rebel and I knew this was the one. It just felt right!
hey there! i have my 2020 rebel blue matt for about 1 month now, and this is my opinion. The seat is the worst i have ever tried. need to upgrade that immediately . i made 100km yesterday and my butt is square now. The engine is amazing. sounds powerfull, and it is! i love every second of its power. It looks amazing once you customize it. one of the best looking bike on market at this price. It is a HONDA. will stay with you forever unless u dont want to. it feels a bit small at first, but once you accept the fact that is made for smaller people you will love it.it fits amazingly perfect for me. i am 5.7" or 169cm. if i had to rate this bike it would be a 9.5/10 for me, not a 10 because of the nasty seat. but,,,i have already order a Mustang tripper seat. so problem solved. everybody should buy this bike. it will be a legend of honda.
I purchased the Matte Jean Blue and love it. Its a great first bike to learn on. Everything has been really good with it so far. I did purchase the Vance and Hines Slip on. Gives it a really good "throaty" sound. Happy Trails and enjoy the bike!
Thank you for your input and sharing this. It's very insightful on safety accessories and the overall setup of the bike. I hope you do enjoy your ride and stay safe mate!
Ernesto, Congratulations on this beautiful bike....you will definitely have lots of fun and many great journeys. Thank for the great video as well. I'm looking to get me one in the very near future.
I decided to go with the rebel over the iron 883 for a few reasons. 1 it’s a Honda, bullet proof motors. 2 the 883’s tend to vibrate a lot more than I’d like. Both are good bikes though
I found your video because I was looking for engine guards and your video came across my search. I just picked up a 2020 Honda rebel and it’s exactly like yours except the seat is it in the diamond pattern and in the color brown and it came with the brown passenger seat. I like the way the engine guards look and at first I thought that they might be kind of big and gaudy but they actually look good. I am a new RUclipsr as well and I’m planning on taking the bike out and recording some videos. I’ve only had the bike for less than a week.
Bike looks good in that color with the cowl and fork gaiters and upper fork covers. Fantastic. This is a great looking bike. If they come out with this with bigger motor I would take it over a Harley any day.
Thanks for the walk-around. I am turning 62 and want to give myself something as a hobby and ride. Wanted an opinion on the 500. Also considering the 1100 model.
Congrats, looks great. My partner is getting her Rebel 500 ABS at the end of the month and having seen this we might check out getting the engine guards fitted as well. Thank you!
Hi Phillip thanks for the comment. Here is where I picked up the engine guard: www.t-rex-racing.com/2017-2019-Honda-Rebel-300-500-Engine-Guard-Cage-p/n27-18eg.htm
Looks awesome in silver. I want one. The blue denim is cool too. Honda nailed this design. I'd really like to know if your custom seat is more padded than the original. The stock seat comfort seems to be an issue.
Hi Kelowna Rider, this perhaps is the only gripe I have about this motorcycle. I have now been on the bike for 200 miles and the answer on comfort is that if you ride for more than 30 minutes- your bottom does begin to hurt. I changed back to the original seat and compared them both and they are the same. The only difference is that patterned finish. I'm looking to purchase this item for longer trips: www.amazon.com/Haerniubi-Motorcycle-Cushion-Fillable-Pressure/dp/B07Z7FMTS1/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=motorcycle+seat+cushion&qid=1592501669&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUE5REJFTjVBVE1BVkImZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA1NDk1ODkxVUY5VEI3V01DT1VPJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAxNzk1NTkzRklFSjY4NzFHRlBKJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

The rebel is one of my dreambikes to have, and a Royal endfield classic 500...
Hi Thor, the cost of the license in California is not expensive at all. The application is only $35 US dollars. The Department of Motor Vehicles here in California gives applicants the option of submitting a safety riders course certificate in lieu of the driving test. As a new rider I took this option and the safety course was $350 US dollars. I didn’t mind this investment as it prepares riders for riding safely. In total I spent the $385 for my license. I hope this helps.
@@DrEVEL11 Thanks Ernesto..:) Its a enormous difference in price from A2 to A1 drivers..i'll taken the A1 license..its horsepower related from 49 to over 100 horsepower..A2 license from 9 to 48 horsepower, nearly a 1000 dollar difference...Geee' i should have lived i california now :) Even sweden is over 1000 dollar cheaper for taking the Mc license..I hope the system here in Norway changes for driverlicenses cost's,allready the car license is over 2025 dollars, that should be takin in coinsideration,in a ordinary MC course as you have in the US,the traffic rules we know...(here you must trhu a 50 questions of traficrelated questions and have less than 7 wrong..)just that costs 750 NK or more..if you fail,a new one...so you see it is costly...

Hi Michael, that's great congratulations- I don't live in the city nor have driven the bike on the hills of SF. However, when I have come to the hills here locally, I have had to depend on the back break- in general I apply the front and back break evenly at all stops but on a hill upward or downward, I relly on the back brake to allow me to get ready to manage the throttle. It does take practice though and it can be challenging (I'm no expert yet). This is another reason the rebel is great for a beginner- it is not too heavy and one can flat foot it. Hope this helps.
I have only dropped a bike once excluding dirt bikes and luckily it was in my yard at slow speed and a dumb move on my part. Was moving in form my back yard to front and used a little to much front brake with the clutch all the way out and the rear tire just walked around and I fell over
Congrats on your 500. How do you like it nearly a year later? I have a 2009 Rebel 250 that I put close to 6K miles on and I really love the Rebel 500. I went to see the Rebel 1100 in person, but found it to be a bit taller/wider than the 300/500, but could still flat foot it, but jeez the stock seat is not nice on the 1100. The Rebel has always been the ultimate “learners” or beginner bike, since 1985. The newer 500 model is definitely more powerful, but still retains the same forgiveness as the old models.

Man you’ll regret getting a 500 after about 6 months..
What di you recommend I move on to?
a cruiser never is a good beginner bike. why do people say such a thing?
The Rebel has always been the ultimate “learners” or beginner bike, since 1985.
The newer 500 model is definitely more powerful, but still retains the same forgiveness as the old models.
@@TheAlibabatree disagree. the cb500f for example is much better for beginners, as any mid sized naked bike is. it's lighter, offers better control and is more forgiving.
@@nateriver5114 I was telling you what the general consensus was. Everyone has an opinion.
Very costly
Costly? This is one of the cheapest cruisers around. Bikes go well over 15k $
