      thank you! Glad to help! Everyone will tell you the Rebel 500 is a great bike for beginners, as well as intermediate. It is sooooo easy and light weight. The MSF course will make you feel so much better about riding! You'll be ready to get a bike and start practicing in low traffic areas first, then work up to higher traffic areas when you're comfortable. Good luck with your riding!

    Thank you for the excellent review! I've watched about every Rebel 500 video on YT in anticipation of getting one of them. I have decided on the 2020 as well because of the improvements. My only concern has been the mid controls. I'm used to a much bigger bike with forward controls and I liked it. I'm only 5'6" though, so the mid controls shouldn't be a problem for me. I'm 50 now and not a big guy, so I'm ready for a lighter, easier to handle, fun bike. The 500 rebel seems like a perfect fit.

    Great video. I got back into riding after 30 years this spring and picked up an old Rebel 250 to see if I really wanted to do this. Fast forward a couple months and the 250 has a buddy now. 2021 Rebel 500 ABS. Believe the hype, folks. These bikes are awesome. The big tires really grab the road and the clutch/shift is so smooth. Add in just over 400 pounds curb weight, once you take off you'll never want to turn it toward the house! And 4-ways! It has 4-ways, not that you'll ever need them! Ride safe out there.

      @@raulantonioperezortiz1118 The curb weight is only 100ish pounds more. I noticed it the first couple days but the bike is so nimble while riding it is still very controllable. The biggest change was going from the forward peg of the 250 to mid peg foot position on the 500, but the more upright seated body position I realized is more comfortable for me.

And I wanted a review on those very same viking saddle bags too :') !! Thank you!! Really nice family time you have here, it's family goals! (Ps. You just got to be careful of all that loose gravel on your roads.)
    If anyone is concerned about the viking bags being real leather, or vinyl, ether due to weather damage or if you're vegan, it's neither! "Viking leather (technical leather) is a high durability, leather-like material. It is designed specifically for the outdoors and for automotive applications, with a high level of utilization and element resistance. Not only is Viking Leather much more durable, it looks 100% like real leather. It will never fade or discolor. It has no soft material backing and no die color coating (won't peel like vinyl). It wont scratch. Viking Leather can only be distinguished from real leather by touch and smell, never by appearance."

    I heard no mention of the saddle bag model. They appear to be Viking Bags. Also, are they mounted with quick release? Throw over? Also, the bag is too big for the passenger. I put on the shock cut out large and there is only small room for the passenger heal on the pegs. That will not be comfortable for a long ride. I see the same on your video. I returned my bags for Odin Medium (which i haven't received yet). These medium bags have more room between the bag side and the passenger foot peg.

    • @mcSal
      @mcSal  4 года назад

      Yes, they are Viking bags. Passengers have ridden on some of these bikes, but their primary complaint is with the passenger seat and feeling every bump in the road. The saddlebags have not been part of their complaints. But I'm sure that would vary between passengers.

So we started her on the Rebel with 27.2" seats where she was more comfortable. I'm guessing the Rebel would be a good fit. If not, there are other cruisers with lower seat height.

    I own the 2019 Matt black one. I hope we can get that new display aftermarket for our 19's. I was hoping they made the gearing a little taller on the 2020. That's what I'm going to have to do to mine. She rev-ing pretty high at 70 to 75 on the highway which is fine for short highway trips, but if you got a 20 min drive to work it needs another tooth in the front sprocket to get that rpm down 500 to 1000 while cruising.

      The saddle bags can be purchased from VikingBags.com. I'm not sure which model, but they are lockable. The saddlebags have held up well. The highway pegs are from Kuryakyn and can be purchased from RevZilla.com. Of the three Rebel 500's with the highway pegs, both of my daughter's bikes have had the right peg blow off while out riding, leaving the peg framework. If I could do it all over again, I would get the saddle bags, but not the highway pegs.

    I typically drive in a place where it's basically countryside roads everywhere (similar to your neighborhood) and it is very dark in the night. I already have an idea on how dim were the lights on the previous rebel models, I just need to see how those LEDs do in your environment (e.g. how well does the headlight do, how far can the turn signal/brake lights can be seen from the dark, if possible how well do those LEDs do in typical city night environment, etc.). I got them through NorCal MotorSports in Sacramento, CA. Not sure what brand, but I'll find out. There were other crash guards that came farther out from the bike, but didn't get them because it would have been too far out with the front cruising pegs added.

    Center stand? Chain cleaning can be difficult without one.
