- What a run! Dumpster diving for scrap metal went fantastic today, came home with a pretty stellar haul that included a little bit of everything and processed it all down, ready to take it in for cash! Scrapping can be a pretty great way to spend a day.

Those Texas Instruments Command Modules are for the TI-99/4A vintage computer. There is a thriving vintage computer community, maybe you could find a local buyer to sell the whole lot and save shipping.
I have one of those machines myself, if you don't find another buyer I'd be interested.
For scrapping, you are spoiled in Calgary. Maybe a new video series as well? Scrapping across the nation.
Re the wire - you have a stripmeister - run it through, it will cut one of the inner wires at the same time. One pass = two bare bright.
Doesn't look like there are alot of committed scrappers in that area. You found some good stuff.

Is the truck gone forever? I scrap with a full size silverado and it's still a struggle to make it worth it...could not imagine doing it in a car.

I've just started collecting any copper wire and copper pipe i see when going places, all the appliances I see have the cable already cut off and actual cable wire non existent really unless you're a proper skip diver!

Could put that long steel bar between the hinged dumpster door and bend it in half or at least in a u shape to fit in your car, next time.....
Maybe you could take the passenger seat out so you can fit a lot more stuff. At least until you get the pickup back.

Thub, you were in Montreal! wow I am down the street in Ottawa. Hope you had a nice trip east, Spiderman knees. ;). And that first blue dumpster, with all that wire, happy you found that. Never happens in Ottawa. Everything is locked up tight here.
Great run, you have a friendly demeanour which which puts people at ease, the point of asking before you dive is valet, but what do you do if nobody answers the door. Personally I don't mind seeing anyone making a living dumpster diving so long as the leave it better than.....

I find your videos refreshing even if its not a big "adventure. Also want to comment that you are the only scrapper that I have seen that gets cans and bottles so you live in a decent state that recycles wish all states would start .

It's interesting that you crush your bottles and aluminum cans. In the Netherlands, we are required to return them to the supermarket uncrushed.
Okay, I just subbed. Can you do a video that helps identify those poor man’s precious metals? I’ve been collecting copper, aluminum, and brass. Picking up refrigerators, washer and dryers. Anything. I’m glad my wife hasn’t asked me to stop. I guess cause I break down and pass the metal onto some older man.
It’s all precious metal. Just depends who’s asking. If your gonna sell it or pass to someone else.

The light bulb inside may possibly be used as a current limiting device?
Also, when discharging capacitors it is good practice to keep your other hand in your pocket. Saves you completing a circuit and smacking yourself in the face, or possibly something worse.😊

Well, I haven’t said much even though I am still watching, but my 4Runner was involved in an accident a few weeks back and was totaled. Not my fault, luckily, and the other guy’s insurance is going to pay out (hopefully soon!) but I have been out of the game since then and I am going crazy! Luckily my buddy who let me borrow his S-10 a couple years back is going to sell it to me for cheap, so I will have a scrap truck (an open bed will be sooo much better than an SUV) that is already… not trashed, but let’s say I won’t have to worry about it if it gets dinged up a little as it already has some “love” to it. But I have been going stir-crazy, not to mention not making any money. Ad thing is that I keep seeing stuff I would pick up, including a passel of brake rotors nearby! I just hope they are still there when I finally get the truck. My plan is to go “HAM” on some scrapping and save for a car I can drive that looks decent and gets good gas mileage. Cross your fingers for me!!! Oh, and as always, great video! Thanks for helping me want to keep doing the thing. Take care, Drake!

Love you doing the thing, you should think about doing the cuts accross the brass, thats what i do and all the copper comes easy out 95% of the times, so you ger clean brass and clean copper

To each is own but i will always strip the 2 wires inside the romex. I dont scrap based on what I would, should, or could make per hour.

Been watching for a while and love the fact that you can make a little money and leave the environment better than you found it! Quick question that may have been asked before. Do you have any friends that are contractors, plumbers etc that might be interested in some of the select scrap? I am a handyman and I would give 2 to 3 times the amount you might get for the pipe, fixtures, electrical etc. Might not be worth the hassle? Thanks again for everything.
You gotta learn to use the dumpster to your advantage! I get long pipes like that in small spaces by bending them using the dumpster for leverage. They are tougher than pipes that size. 😃

@@thubprint Just testing the waters, lol. My French is pretty rusty, I just noticed 2 errors in that sentence. I'm from Michigan, I've always wanted to drive through Detroit, into Canada and along the St. Lawrence River all the way to Montreal. One of these days for sure.
I know that most of this channel is about dumpster diving for scrap metal, but do you think you could do more videos of you dumpster diving for food at places like Tim Hortons, 7-11, etc?

I think about it sure, but I’d need to bring in some help with managing the video output if I was going to go business mode on scrapping.
