This ad is an April 14, 1996 spot for Lynnhaven Mall in Virginia Beach. Lynnhaven - which along with Patrick Henry and Greenbrier are the only Hampton Roads malls that seem to be doing well at the present time - opened in 1981 with 6 anchor stores (JCPenney; Montgomery Ward; Leggett; Rices Nachmans; Thalhimers and Miller & Rhoads). By 1996, Lynnhaven's anchors included original anchors JCPenney, Montgomery Ward, Leggett (which would have its name retired as Belk began using its name for the entire chain by 1997-98), The Limited (which took over the Hess's anchor in 1991 {Hess's having swallowed up Nachmans in 1984}) and 2 Hecht's locations that acquired the former Miller & Rhoads and Thalhimers spaces when those chains went out of business in 1990 and 1992, respectively.
Currently the mall is anchored by JCPenney, Dillards (which took over the former Leggett following a mutual exchange) and Macy's (which retired the Hecht's name in 2006; Hecht's having previously moved to a new location in the mall in 1998) along with junior anchors Barnes & Noble, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Dave & Buster's (these stores split what had been Wards, though the Dave & Buster's was previously Steve & Barry's and then when that chain folder was Furniture Mart before that chain moved); an AMC Theaters location (part of an outdoor section called The Inlet where the Leggett spot last used by Lord & Taylor before closing in 2005 was); H&M (which took part of the former Hess's when The Limited moved out); L.L. Bean; Apple.
