    I have to say I REALLY loved the idea that Miquella's flaw could be naivete, rather than something like him doing a 180 and he's been manipulating everyone all along!!1! schtick. He's very intelligent, yes, and is depicted as being extremely capable to the point of being frightening, as well as idealistic-- but it also feels like he keeps running into situations where tragedies "befall" people around him and yet, despite everything he could do, his attempts to help them seem to just fall short. He's already gone as far as planting a competing tree and growing it with his own blood, and made that unalloyed gold needle. He has creatures already coming to his tree seeking asylum. And yet because of one action, all those too just seemingly falls apart one by one.
    It feels a lot like genuine idealism with a strong drive, yet the sheer scope of all the things that he wants to fix make it almost impossible to pull off because what was "wrong" feels already too-baked-into the world. And, frankly, I'd be terrified of someone with that kind of idealism, drive, and capabilities fighting against seemingly impossible odds. That kind of person could decide that the world can only be saved by wiping it off for a clean slate, become a tyrant to keep a perfection or become extremely bitter and jaded. The idea that he matures to being St. Trina and doing what he is able rather than trying to cleanse all the world instead, I definitely prefer it moreso than a more... "oh he's evil!!" angle? Maybe because it's, frankly, also tragic. I think to someone like Miquella, what feels more tragic is the notion that /he/ settled for something lesser than a completely pure, unalloyed gold, moreso than corruption from outside forces.

    Really glad that someone finally mentioned how the Horseman boss in the first dlc trailer looks like it could be related to the Albinaurics, with its 4 jointed arms, lack of feet, and silver flesh. It’s honestly been driving me crazy that no one else I follow has really talked about it that I know of 😭😭

    13:29 the tarnished WERE part of Marika's original plan, though! You hear at the first church about how her plan for the tarnished is (1) for them to lose grace and be exiled, (2) for them to go live and die in foreign lands, and then, critically, (3) for them to one day be resurrected and returned to the Lands Between with Grace restored to them.
    This also all predates RadagonMarika, Miquella/Malenia, etc..

    • @SinclairLore
      @SinclairLore  4 месяца назад +2

      There's two parts to it. She wants the Tarnished to come back and be part of a war, but when they *do* come back, everything's gone wrong and they get dragooned into fixing her mistakes while she's imprisoned. That whole part is being directed by the Two Fingers / Greater Will, who have basically disowned her and only keeping her alive because she's got the Ring.

    So my idea is that Miquella was just his own thing up till Mohg took him. But Mohg snatched Miquella after Miquella became one with the Haligtree. And presumably at that point Miquella started parting his spirit separate from his flesh, because his flesh was supposed to become a tree, and his spirit could roam free. And thus he kind of helped Malenia with a golden needle, and now he decided to go help Godwyn die a true death. And for that he went to the Land of Shadows as a spirit - as Saint Trina. Hoping that his body would stay behind and become the Haligtree. Miquella saw that Godwyn's corpse kept growing without a soul, so he could thing that his own body would continue to grow without a soul as well, and that is what would keep the Haligtree ever growing and to not become rotten. But in came Mogh and took Miquella's body. And I think it is Mogh who put Miquella in the cocoon, since we see a depiction of Mogh taking Miquella from the Haligtree and Miquella is not in the cocoon at that moment. But it is also possible that was changed, and it is also possible that cocoon grew as part of Miquella's body growing. So what Mogh sees is a little boi, who is uncontions, and must think that when that little boi grows up, he will wake up and become Elden God, making Mogh Elden Lord. What Mogh does not realize is that Miquella's body continues to grow uncontrollably, the same way as Godwyn's corpse does. And that is why in the cocoon we see an old man, who is huge and not a little pretty boi. All the while Miquella's spirit, Sait Trina is in the Land of Shadows, attempting to find a solution to what happened to Godwyn. And maybe omens being the vessels for death had something to do with it.

    The thing with the lion guardian in the trailer really turned my whole perspective around. Instead of being a shame-filled recluse that hides behind the grand image of Godfrey, it seems to be more like a well respected symbol of the lion city that actually fought to defend it in the war.
    But theres still room for dark twists, such as the smoke breath and the creepy green eyes, maybe explaining why the lion survived after everything else was burned to the ground.

  • @jonathangrover3176
    @jonathangrover3176 4 месяца назад +3

    In a recent playthrough, I noticed that the Dagger Talisman described the battlefield surgeons as merciful due to them dispensing death to grievously wounded people on battlefields. The Golden Ephitaph also references Miquella wanting Godwyn to due a true death... rather than, say, being brought back to life or restored. What if Miquella's mission is essentially to mercy kill anyone in the shadow lands who are still suffering. I mean, he is described as being "the most fearsome empyrean" by Malenia, of all people.
    I see Miquella as a pacifying force. Salvation through slumber and oblivion. Not unlike the frenzied flame in some regards.

      Just like Golden Mask is tracing the words in the air. But it’s well before she fights the giants. I knew I had seen that scene from some where before. Cool takes as always ! About one of your later points regarding gold existing in the Land of Shadows, I think it could be about the primordial reddish gold which would have been the color of Order at a time when Gold and Shadow were not separated. Pretty much Marika's Gold Life colour mixed with some Red Destined Death. With the whole deal being that by making the two distinct, Marika also splits the Lands Between into two places.

  • @juanogando1901

    Also what is interesting is how a lot of the beings outside humans are trying to be human. Like the demi human queen. She uses magic and a staff yet when pushed to the “brink” goes crazy. Boc wants to change how he looks as well. What the beast men are doing in Ferun Azula being “civilized” or showing a transition from “primitive” behavior to the acceptable behavior. The omen dancers have a lions head. So I’ll borrow from Micolash “free us from our “beastly idiocy”.
    We can get answers to if marika did this on purpose or out of curiosity. Becasue it was as a seduction and a betrayal.

  • @theprophet4660
    @theprophet4660 4 месяца назад +2

    So, one thing I find interesting is the design of miquella's rune.
    It is obvious in the shape of a crescent moon, and you can extrapolate a lot from that. And it also has a cross in the middle which harkens to their lineage to Radagon and fundamentalism.
    But, if I'm not mistaken, it is the only rune which is not a complete ring, it is open. I believe this could have meaningful symbolism that we don't know yet, but could it relate to the fact that his fate has been erred or incomplete?
    Or could it be a visual cue to represent his departure from a conventional path? From godhood? I believe I'm trying to connect it with his motivation to relinquish himself to right the wrongs he sees in fundamentalism's close mindedness. The framework which damns his sister's curse, and his brother's death.
    I think there is more to the design that I can't parce.

  • @juanogando1901

    What’s crazy is that when did she have her baby as the vessel of the Elden ring? I think marika wanted to understand the greater will and understand how creation works. I draw back to when Griffith speaks to the “idea of evil”. The numen want to create a god being. But how and even why did Marika choose to be the vessel. To me it reads as if she was tricked. Remember she didn’t have a consort until after the giants flame was taken away. So many complicated situations that happen that change character motives.

    I imagine that in the trailer Marika is collecting the spoils of some conflict/event. Because it looks like she has more threads in her hand at the end than what she takes out at the beginning. I also drew an immediate parallel between the scene and the myth of the Norns; Marika holds the threads that connect the two mountains of bodies as if she holds some control over the fate of beings (this is basically her relationship with the elden ring and the Lands Between as I see; I hear people say that the elden ring determines the natural rules of the world, but I think it's more fate and purpose of the beings, about control, monopolized, Marika writes fate, maybe that's the purpose of her tablets that she's been writing in her chamber, you know tablets, runes, ciphers...), so it seems to me that the in-between is represented or exists in the form of the Lands Between, and thats the passage from birth to death, the sky illuminated by the gold light we see.
    Little brainstorm I had watching the first few seconds of the trailer

    Regarding #6: In a screenshot of the big crumbling castle, a tiny site of grace can be seen near some graves at the foot of the stairs. It could've just been a placeholder, but it's also possible that the usual grace sites are in dlc and the Miquella runes serve some other purpose.

      are you referring to the lion stuff in this case?
      That one is kindof a long story but I CAN do a quick version for you:
      1. It is not fully confirmed, but many believe Godfrey to be the original storm lord or stormveil castle.
      2. MORE importantly, stormveil castle, castle sol, and the real roundtable hold all use the same architecture style which is older historically than the rest of Leyendel
      3. Marika's Mischief is found in Stormveil Castle.
      4. Marika's Mischief is an item used for shapeshifting, but we never see her using it.
      5. The fact that it is a veil with very detialed ornamentation, I consider it likely that this is a wedding veil (which I admit means it could just be Marika's)
      6. HOWEVER, Godrick is stated to have stlen this artifact, and I would expect him to revere Godfrey over Marika herself because he's into strength, beasts, and he is occupying what I stated earlier is either Godfrey's old Keep, or one that existed during his reign in the early timeline.
      7. Marika is a god of shape shifting, but we only see her do it once. That seems strange considering the old god of mischeif in this series (Gwyndolin from DS1) used his powers to create a whole false city.
      8. Furthermore, Godfrey almost CERTAINLY comes from a culture that predates the time when omens were hated. During this time, I assume beasts and men were much more closely related.
      9. He actually attacks like a lion using his hands as if they are clawed paws in phase 2
      10. SO, my theory is that in the beginning, Godfrey is blessed by the crucible and that is how he comes into power as a Lion/Beast-Dude. Then Marika marrys him to take control of the beasts. She then hides his connection to this beastly-omen society by hiding his lion features in Serosh and coming up with the legend that he took serosh on his back.
      11. If you look at the reliefs from this time (found in the true round table hold), the lion shields, and castle sol itslef. You will see tons and tons of depictions of Serosh, but none of Godfrey nor any full human for that matter.
      12. Castle Sol is almost certainly from this sun worshiping, beast and omen accepting soceiety. We even see multiple Lion Chimeras in Castle sol along with all of the hawk stuff that can be found in, you guessed it, Castle Stormveil.
      13. Furthermore, if you watch there are multiple moments during Godfrey's phase 2 transition cutscene where his movements EXCACTLY match up with those of Serosh, leading me to bleieve they are more entangled entities than we realize.
      I don't think its something I can prove, but it does make a lot of story lines add up easier. How did Morgot and Mohg get omen horns despite Godfrey being just some dude with a lion on his back?
      My explanation is that godfrey was this lion, and the man half is actually the illusion. It makes sense for Marika who is trying to remove omen to take their most powerful leaders and turn them into her husband(s?), and then later try to erase that they were omen in the first place.

    Every time i think about Marika its almost impossible not to think of Gwynavere.
    Both divine Mothers associated with life. The more games Miyazaki makes the harder it is to not see a shared universe or multiverse. I always theorized that Gwynavere's mother was the Witch of Izalith. Gwynavere being the product of Light and Life like a tree of light. Im not saying Gwynavere and Marika are the same person but definitely share similarities. Though seeing them as separate entities is hard considering Gwynavere fled the land if the Gods and Marika and her People came from another world... I think the story is different but Marika and Gwynavere are basically the same character just re-imagined.
    Also Marika/ Radagon Gwynavere/Gwyndolin... I mean the lore basically writes itself

    I haven't noticed anyone making this read yet: Fire becomes sacriligeous after Marika takes power. It's a very direct comparison to the concept of State Monopoly on Violence, where the ruling government or dominant power uses violence to take control of a region and populace and then outlaws any other use of violence.
    So Messmer is the vessel for this violence and then he has to be blotted out of the history books and hidden away because he's evidence of the process through which Marika took, and could lose her power. It's only through fire that we change the dominant system at the end of the game!

    A fun consideration for why Godfrey (or hoarah loux? idk what his real name is tbh) doesn't have the horns of an Omen is because he's similar to Dung Eater, an Omen without horns yet with the heart of one. This makes him a lot like Seathe the Scaless in the sense that he's a bit of a mutant among his kind. Maybe that's why he joined up with Marika?
    It's beyond weird that he has some pretty close links to the Crucible and the Omen because of his gang of crucible knights and his children being Omen themselves.
