This. Both thinking more about what cards to take (has a lot of discard synergy, but passes up on two very good discard cards), and about what cards to play (plays bullet time for no reason, when he could have discarded it with survivor in order to deal damage and gain block)
with the way he's playing i'm glad he didn't take blur, he took like one defend card out of 10... and it gotta be top notch too to even make him consider...
Egg's mind: This is the blatantly correct choice, so i will pick something else... and in doing so, challenge myself to explain why this is the correct choice.
Then he explains it utterly wrong by doing the exact opposite of what he says, like complaining about having no blocks, then proceed to ignore block cards, says it will attack the enemy with more health, then attacks the one with less, says he wants to thin out his deck gets to a shop and doesn't does it, mentions how dealing damage can interrupt enemies so he wont take any damage, then proceeds to focus all his attacks on killing one enemy and letting everyone else attack him... 24:23 pretty much explains his real state of mind when he plays this series not just with this deck.
makes an enemy do 0 damage, then attacks that enemy, disrupts them, and then kills them, all while the other enemy is still going to attack but could have been killed while the other either did 0 damage or was disrupted...
>Getting Relics that synergize with discards > Talking about said synergies >Not taking or using cards (like Survivor, or at the end, Unload) that would enable the synergies Never change, Egg.
He has had potential good runs in a number of other videos. He just always found a way to fuck it up by taking cards that didn't synergize with the decks.
The undeniably the best combo in the game is the apotheosis card and the relic that allows a skill to be in your hand at the start of each combat. It eliminates the need to upgrade cards and allows you to heal or do something else if you have another relic
Terror isn't that good. I don't think I've ever taken Terror, and I have a buttload of wins as the Silent. Silent needs only two things to succeed: block and noxious fumes.
NL’s brain: apply 99 vulnerability and exhaust? Nah it can’t be real, it’s probably apply 2 vulnerability and I don’t want it but... “poison stab is fine”
"I see the strength of this run now"- Yeah NL, you have Apotheosis. Of course your run is beautiful. EDIT: Ok but seriously, it's Shuriken and Gremlin Horn propping up Apotheosis, Adrenaline and Bullet Time which gives him insane amounts of damage and combo chaining. He's basically built an Ironclad run out of a Slient run.
It could be even better he could have infinite blades, and choke, which he ignored and didn't add to his deck, the amount of damage he would be doing would been insane.
his half ass decisions is what make his deck bad, he still don't know what card to take to form a synegy deck and when it's better to just not taking any card...
Hey just a suggestion question mark encounters generally give a better reward that most combats will give and you also dont have to fight something and take damage to get the reward.
Please, NL. Every time you say "I don't really know whats going on" and then play randomly, we die a little inside. Take the three seconds to understand what is going on and STRATEGIZE. Taking "Die Die Die" over "Unload" is the epitome of the problem. You have a relic that does 3 damage to a random enemy whenever you discard a card. You also have a relic that give you 3 block whenever you discard a card. That means that "Unload" basically says "do a bunch of damage, then discard all those blocks in order to deal even more damage AND STILL GET BLOCK". But sure. That seems "almost bad", and the one-shot aoe damage is better.
Yeah, its annoying. He discards ONE card, gains 3 block and dealt 3 damage to a random enemy, then proceeds to freak out. Like seriously, what the fuck lol.
He's a do-er, not a thinker. Even when he makes it a point to slow down he still lacks the basic ability to read and remember what he read... That being said, the reptilian part of his brain that owns 90% of his motor skills is a genius for what it is. Kind of like the smartest gorilla in the world. We can't measure him on his ability to read, but he's damn good at throwing cards that look right at the enemy.
Austin (lastgreywolf) had chiming artifact/trinket/thing on a run with 2 calculated gambles, so he could cycle his whole deck several times a turn and deal 3 damage to random enemies a million times. It was the craziest thing I have seen this game do. This happened during his stream yesterday if you want to check it out for yourself.
Austin got an amazing synergy with Tingsha on his stream last night with 2 Calculated Gamble+ and lots of card draw. He would basically fill his hand and then discard it all over and over. It was ridiculous, 120+ damage without actually playing a single attack.
20:42 In case you missed it. NL misplayed because he has a discarding relic that would do 3 damage. Those situations are pretty silly though so it's very easy to be silly with it.
The absolute madman. His deck is so good, his top decking is so on point, his “focus on the macro and let the micro sort itself out” mentality is so rewarded that any and every misplay is actually rendered pointless. I actually smiled, laughed, at my min-maxy inner voice when he would throw away free damage. I’ve been cracked. All hail the egg For real tho that last card choice tilted me just a little but it’s understandable
I'm kind of surprised (then again, maybe not) that he's not synergizing his discard relics. He could have taken unload at the end to deal extra damage while still potentially gaining block.
just saying "Die Die Die" is amazing, especially with strength gain. its nice to be able to blanket damage with strong enemies and it can clear out weaker minions.
2:30 seconds in two small but annoying misplays because egg could have avoided damage completely twice through A) using finisher on the farthest right bird or B) fucking using survivor instead of block I'm already in pain
just fyi if you kill the big goblin all the other goblins run away, so it could sometimes be beneficial to ignore the smallboys, such as the one turn where you screamed at them and then elected to kill the 2 lil gobs instead of attacking biggie
Damn, at the end he has Unload which synergies with 2! of his relics and he says its not worth it? Its not like you can play skills that you want and then use unload which dont exhaust cards and you can use them later. (sadface) Atleast Die die die is decent especially with finisher and ninja star.
Add me to the list of people who rage-purchased this game because of this series. I ironically got ice cream as my first trinket, which rewards you for not spending all your energy each turn and rolled the game blind luck with a barricade/metallicize/shrug it off/headbutt/body slam deck. Adrenaline, impervious, and perfect achievements. It took three freaking hours, but it was cool being literally unkillable in most fights and randomly busting out 3 body slams for 200+ damage in one round a couple of times on elites and bosses.
I built myself a ridiculous hyper-cycle deck last run. Shuriken, Fan, Kunai, Lantern and Goblin Horn in a deck with two Knees, a couple of Preps and some shivs. Unfortunately I got all of those relics from two chests and an elite... After dropping to 15 health due to my deck being weak until exactly then. Got my favourite 3 combats out of it and then ran out of health.
I think you seriously underrate glass knife, no reason not to take it in my opinion even though it takes one card slot the value of he card is just so good.
Mad streak: 4 "SO MANY SYNERGIES" passes so many opportunitiies to discard a card and get bonuses "I'm NL and I cant read buffs on enemies cuz I got too many cards in my hand"
He finally learned how to use EA THANK GOD! This was probably the most controlled run he has done, but i still think he fucked it up somewhat by not taking unload to enable 2 of his relics.
Having watched the whole video, I must say NL has an OK handle on this deck. There were still some misplays but nothing egregious like insome other episodes. Good job, NL.
I gotta say....This was a pretty good episode, he made some next level plays like not resting but removing curses and such...Not tooo many crazy missplays like the previous character... Too little block cards yea i agree..But yu made a decent play with good cards. Also every block is better than a defend and every attack card is better than strike XD thats why you start off with 5 strikes, 4 blocks and 1 bonus card (neutralize)
2 minutes in and hes already killing the mob he debuffed down to 0 damage, instead of the one that is actually going to hurt him.... PLEASE... Edit: AND WHY DO YOU KEEP ENDING YOUR TURN WITH ENERGY REMAINING?!
I wonder if NL is ever gonna realize that long term, keeping an Endless Agony to discard just means that he gets a free 6 dmg, but it stops him from drawing a better card due to it drawing the Endless Agony instead. A good chunk of the time, Endless Agony being free isn't even relevant due to the relative low cost of his cards anyway.
Also, against the random card cost encounter, why did you play bullet time to play around survivor discard (which have you nothing) when you could have discarded for the relic that deals dmg on discard.
poison run is long gone tho. its a run focused on taking small flies out via rapid fire and build up advantages like poison and block against big ones. Corpse explosion is expensive slowplay.
After seeing Austin win by playing endless calculated gambles simply because he was taking more time to think through how things would go, it can be a little hard to watch Ryan rush through everything. He just needs to slow himself to git gud at this game
I love how Ryan consistently ends his turns with 1 energy and 1 energy attacks left in his hand
Grumzub dude thats killing me
egg, when people say slowplay more, they mean think about your card picks more, not spending a round making minimal progress but taking no damage
This. Both thinking more about what cards to take (has a lot of discard synergy, but passes up on two very good discard cards), and about what cards to play (plays bullet time for no reason, when he could have discarded it with survivor in order to deal damage and gain block)
15:33 "Uhh, and we'll go for the one with more HP" **hits enemy with the lowest HP**
Same as he weakened the one that would "stay around" and then killed it first turn
"we're low on blocks" - takes dagger spray over blur
and then he skips glass knife, the absolute madman
Blur is actually potentially the best card for the Silent, I hate this egg for skipping it.
with the way he's playing i'm glad he didn't take blur, he took like one defend card out of 10... and it gotta be top notch too to even make him consider...
"I DUNNO, OK? There's a lot going on!"
- Egg, anytime literally anything is going on.
1000 IQ plays
Well known galaxy brain tactics
Not that it mattered, he took 0 damage anyway. But yeah, he's an egg.
He took 0 damage anyway you knob
>Getting Relics that synergize with discards
> Talking about said synergies
>Not taking or using cards (like Survivor, or at the end, Unload) that would enable the synergies
Never change, Egg.
Misplay at 0:00-27:57
jk
Thanks
You forgot a second
@Calvin Webb That last second he played well
Canis Rufus I spit my drink out a little reading that
Damn, he actually has a good run this time
Server Kastan the fact that you say "3th" and not "3rd"
He has had potential good runs in a number of other videos. He just always found a way to fuck it up by taking cards that didn't synergize with the decks.
Good chance he just loses on the next level. Defense becomes more important on level 3.
And then there is this one time you got defense out your butt and Giant Head decides to simply end you.
Doesn't the Giant Head just keep going 'Why are you still here?' at the end. Then he deals some damage. Good defense can cover the damage.

this profile image you have there
you are...
hhheeeccckkk526
Have you ever had spinning top + 100 endless agonies tho?
matthew ranger the only way that's happening is if you spend the 100 turns to let that happen lol
makk ???
bottled lightning is the relic and I absolutely agree, had that combo twice and it's amazing
In this episode, egg realizes he has good synergy and then repeatedly declines to take cards that feed that synergy. 10/10
Why does he refuse to take terror
1999ante for the same reason he thinks the silent is underpowered. He's a very silly person
IKR???? Terror seems amazing
Garnzlok silent is underpowered though
Terror isn't that good. I don't think I've ever taken Terror, and I have a buttload of wins as the Silent. Silent needs only two things to succeed: block and noxious fumes.
why is terrror good? Are u gonna fight a boss for 99 turns or sth?
NL’s brain: apply 99 vulnerability and exhaust? Nah it can’t be real, it’s probably apply 2 vulnerability and I don’t want it but... “poison stab is fine”
Remember to use all of your energy. You often have 1 energy left and a playable card in hand.
strike strike finisher on the enemy doing 0 damage, the entire comments section can't handle that move when you could've interrupted the other birdo.
Griffin Young leave it to our egg to misplay his character so badly that he ends up with another characters op run
(I jest for I know not what I say)
It could be even better he could have infinite blades, and choke, which he ignored and didn't add to his deck, the amount of damage he would be doing would been insane.
his half ass decisions is what make his deck bad, he still don't know what card to take to form a synegy deck and when it's better to just not taking any card...
Phú Đức Nguyễn
But he is learning. he's not taking every single card and he's trying to synergize.
"They are all better than a Strike" is a really bad argument NL
For a moment i was afraid he was gonna choose corpse explosion this time when he doesn't has a poison deck
Especially since he never removes his Strike cards...
"We'll go for this on one that's going to be around for a while." **proceeds to spend entire hand killing that enemy**
Every time he argues that a card is better than strike I cringe so hard
EVERY ATTACK IS BETTER THAN A STRIKE, EGG
unless you are running a perfected strike deck
That makes no sense. Even if you're running a perfected strike deck, any attack card is still better than a strike itself.
That Kirisame Perfected Strike doesn't rely on regular Strikes...
perfected strike gets more power depending on the number of cards with strike in the name in your deck
Yes it does. Any card with Strike in it's name in the deck makes Perfected Strike more powerful.
Hey just a suggestion question mark encounters generally give a better reward that most combats will give and you also dont have to fight something and take damage to get the reward.
2blackdogs Sometimes you do have to fight in the question mark rooms unless you have the relic
You can also encounter elites in ? Rooms. Which is terrible, because you don't get the relic from those fights.
if I remember correctly most elites in *?* room give a fixed reward like when fighting the *horsemen* in Isaac...
Endless Agony's card text and art basically sum up my viewing experience with Egg's missplays
I was so excited after getting off work to see this video that i finally took the time to like all your slay the spire vids
NL, use dagger spray (and other multi-hitting moves) last when you have shuriken. They gain +1 damage from the strength gains for each hit.
Please, NL. Every time you say "I don't really know whats going on" and then play randomly, we die a little inside. Take the three seconds to understand what is going on and STRATEGIZE.
Taking "Die Die Die" over "Unload" is the epitome of the problem.

This series is so good. Keep doing it.

Relics are almost always better than a card so choose ?s over regular combat
After watching Austin stream this today- his last 3 runs I think, NL could really learn from him. His gamble-draw-discard deck was awesome
Thats 3 Terrors in 1 run
Doesn't seem like that good a card.
blahthebiste as a one of its amazing.
For boss killing, maybe, but NL seemed to have no trouble with the bosses
blahthebiste just because he's done okay doesn't mean a permanent vulnerable wouldn't have been helpful.
He did have some good AOE, so maybe you're right that teching for better focus fire would have been an improvement to his deck.
very potent deck... If you are worried about deck size and defense card draw then you should remove those strike cards at every opportunity.
Sleep to Isaac, wake up to Slay the Spire.
Feels good man
15:35 ''We'll go with the one with more HP''
Proceeds to attack the one with less HP
20:42 In case you missed it. NL misplayed because he has a discarding relic that would do 3 damage. Those situations are pretty silly though so it's very easy to be silly with it.

For real tho that last card choice tilted me just a little but it’s understandable
15:33 "we're going to go for the one with more hp" *attack the one with less hp*
24:15 Our egg freaks out so hard over gaining 3 block and dealing 3 damage from a discard mechanic he doesnt even realize he has.
I'm kind of surprised (then again, maybe not) that he's not synergizing his discard relics. He could have taken unload at the end to deal extra damage while still potentially gaining block.
21:13 Omae wo Shinderu
Weeb detected.
You didn’t even spell it right nerd
VoHiYo
NANI?
It's a meme, old man. Go back to playing bridge at the nursing home.
Wait wait wait
NL...has an almost good deck...
This run is SO good
“Let’s take the curse. We can remove it at the next campfire.” Resting at the campfire, would have healed for way more than 14 health....
I die a little inside every time he skips out on Acrobatics in a Bullet Time build.
Slowly egg might learn Endless Agony is the PERFECT discard fodder.
I had a nutty deck as the silent where I stacked 1215 poison on 1 enemy only because of Nightmare + Catalyst combo
This guy's deck is crazy!
just saying "Die Die Die" is amazing, especially with strength gain. its nice to be able to blanket damage with strong enemies and it can clear out weaker minions.
this run is going to be insane! he got the best neutral card and trinkets.
At 4:40 passes on picking up terror. Oh NL the pain you cause.
Damn I wish you had seen the discard synergy you could have had. You have two great discard relics.
It hurts when you end your turn with an energy and cards to play. This happens far too often.
You should do a 2 to 1 poison run. Every 2 poison cards you get, take a defense card. Cards that give extra energy are allowed.
Dagger throw+ went super well with your relics because of the discard synergy. Don't know why you skipped it.
Ma man finally a combo, nice! Love the videos
You need to SLOW DOWN EGG! You keep on LEAVING ENERGY and cards in your hand, and ending turn. 20:15
I can't wait until they add seeded runs to the game, so we can see the differences between Austin and NL's skill
2:30 seconds in two small but annoying misplays because egg could have avoided damage completely twice through
A) using finisher on the farthest right bird or
B) fucking using survivor instead of block
I'm already in pain
just fyi if you kill the big goblin all the other goblins run away, so it could sometimes be beneficial to ignore the smallboys, such as the one turn where you screamed at them and then elected to kill the 2 lil gobs instead of attacking biggie
jake he gets energy and card draw for killing small ones. And it forces big dude to summon more instead of doing crazy damage
Damn, at the end he has Unload which synergies with 2! of his relics and he says its not worth it? Its not like you can play skills that you want and then use unload which dont exhaust cards and you can use them later. (sadface) Atleast Die die die is decent especially with finisher and ninja star.
High energy episode!
Add me to the list of people who rage-purchased this game because of this series.
I ironically got ice cream as my first trinket, which rewards you for not spending all your energy each turn and rolled the game blind luck with a barricade/metallicize/shrug it off/headbutt/body slam deck. After dropping to 15 health due to my deck being weak until exactly then.
Got my favourite 3 combats out of it and then ran out of health.
I think you seriously underrate glass knife, no reason not to take it in my opinion even though it takes one card slot the value of he card is just so good.
Mad streak: 4
"SO MANY SYNERGIES"
passes so many opportunitiies to discard a card and get bonuses
"I'm NL and I cant read buffs on enemies cuz I got too many cards in my hand"
He finally learned how to use EA THANK GOD! This was probably the most controlled run he has done, but i still think he fucked it up somewhat by not taking unload to enable 2 of his relics.
I just instalike the videos to support the series. NL needs another BOI on the channel.
I'm here to drink coffee and get salty at NL's misplays.
And I'm all out of coffee.
Having watched the whole video, I must say NL has an OK handle on this deck. There were still some misplays but nothing egregious like insome other episodes. Good job, NL.
Just beat the game with the silent. Super hyped
I gotta say....This was a pretty good episode, he made some next level plays like not resting but removing curses and such...Not tooo many crazy missplays like the previous character... Too little block cards yea i agree..But yu made a decent play with good cards.
Also every block is better than a defend and every attack card is better than strike XD thats why you start off with 5 strikes, 4 blocks and 1 bonus card (neutralize)
unload is not " almost bad" it has insane synergy with your deck
I have never seen so many misplays. He. Can't. Keep. Getting. Away. With. This.
He has god tier luck.
It's not a misplay if you win.
It's an extended BM.
He's done it!
Omg what a magnificent run
I'm ready for the pain that all the misplay on this episode will bring me
OH MY GOD HE'S LEARNING!!!
NL that unload deals 3 damage to a random enemy and gives you 3 block for each card discarded look at your trinkets before you make a choice like that
the misplays are a bit painful to watch at times, but yea that 3 shiv at the start with the ninja star is just so so good.
A good chunk of the time, Endless Agony being free isn't even relevant due to the relative low cost of his cards anyway.
these endless agonies are causing me endless agony
Also, against the random card cost encounter, why did you play bullet time to play around survivor discard (which have you nothing) when you could have discarded for the relic that deals dmg on discard.
He is learning!
At least a little.
Take a shot everytime NL says a card is better than a strike.
some misplays but progress is being made. This deck could get a win. Fingers crossed.
Nice build
HE'S ACTUALLY DONE IT! HE USED SKIP!
Dude cut oxygen not included and upload more of this. Who needs oxygen when I survive on your misplays alone
His oxygen not included misplays also sustain me.
Can't argue with that, the egg's incompetence has nourished us all for many years
Goes for a poison run, doesn't take corpse explosion.
poison run is long gone tho. its a run focused on taking small flies out via rapid fire and build up advantages like poison and block against big ones. Corpse explosion is expensive slowplay.
First enemy, allready huge misplay. We are in for a ride
"we'll go for the one with more HP" when did 44 become more than 53? :P
Pls Egg sir please play more of this game
Yo Tingsha was actually amazing for Austin in yesterday's stream
tingsha is great, enables lots of fun combos
30 seconds in and he’s already planning to fight 2 elites in quick succession on the second floor.
I would argue that that was the right call with doubled relic drops and a campfire between them to rest if needed.
The elites on the second floor are honestly not that bad. Its the 3rd floor and 1st floor (Triple Sentry) that are nightmare fights.
yeah I alway avoid the first floor elite just because of those sentries unless my deck is already super freaking good...
The stabbing book was the most dangerous elite ever imo, but now they nerfed it so it's on par with the other ones
That damn stone head elite is pretty risky.
*comments on the synergy of the discard relics*
*doesn't take anything to enable it*
4:39 ... 99 vulnerable... typo? sounds like instant kill to me
NL which character do you like more?
20:14 missed a free strike
Every, single, fight he missplays, but gets carried by his deck. I cant decide whether i love or hate watching this
After seeing Austin win by playing endless calculated gambles simply because he was taking more time to think through how things would go, it can be a little hard to watch Ryan rush through everything. He just needs to slow himself to git gud at this game
