- New airlines usually are just garbage low cost airlines these days, so it was a breath of fresh air that STARLUX is a luxury oriented, full service newcomer in the super competitive Taiwanese market. I tried out its economy class from Penang to Taipei to see how good it actually is.

yeah sadly that may exactly be the reason why Cathay Pacific will block Starlux's membership. they are too similar and close and CX has veto power.

hopefully, but unlikely. Cathay Pacific has veto power and will likely use it. Alaska offers good value in their program for Starlux redemptions.

id like to try their international product but not paying 275k miles one way.
oh no plane in the world is worth 275k, but if you check very close in, like within 24 hours, or about 300 days out, you can find some decent availability to SF or LA for 75k one way in business class. Or you can do 15k one way on the long haul A350 to Tokyo.
