The plane actually goes where you point or turn or dive to. It has a lot of safety features for beginners but they are still working on crash-resistant radar.
That dear sir was absolutely amazing, I actually spat my drink of tea out when you hit that, 😂 gutted for ya mate. Shit happens. Tbh my foam glider has hit more than it flew and survived fine, me thinks you got proper unlucky bud. Over 2yr ago and still making ppl chuckle. 👍😉
So it was your video that made RC history as to why GPS doesnt work around tall thin objects better known as light poles. I had heard references along the lines that someone made You- Tube history several years ago by showing how GPS and Geofencing cannot avoid obstacles such as trees' light poles, power lines , those minor things. It's ok though! My maiden on my Maule saw me wrapping my new plane around a low hanging powerline out by the road. Clearly I thought it would NEVER be an issue, just like a tree, or like you, a light pole. Well. I picked up the pieces and fixed my Maule, life goes on. Yes. Indeed epic!
Lol, well one of the first things you learn when you start flying is that light poles and trees magnetically attract rc planes, especially when noobs fly them. I think the MANUAL probably says something to that effect. Oh, also the ground has a pretty strong magnetic force too as evidenced in this vid... The really funny thing is when you suggest that this plane isn't durable enough to stand a significant impact into a pole and a 30 foot dead drop, nose first into the ground without sustaining too much damage, hahahaha. Well from what I see, that wing stood up pretty damn well without snapping so there's that. Although Hobby Zone stuff is a bit over priced, you don't want to try to learn to fly on 'a $50 cheap model' as you suggest. Anything that you'd find for $50 is going to be way too small to fly anywhere but inside a gym or warehouse and it won't be anything more than a toy. Experienced flyers will suggest that even in a open field, you take off and fly circuits as if you're on an organized flying field so you take off with the plane going left to right or vice versa because as you found out when you take off straight going away from yourself you don't have the depth perception to avoid an obstacle straight in front of you and if you're flying a heavier or more maneuverable model you'll have a much higher chance of stalling on take off and quickly crashing back down. I guess you should have let El Poppo fly it first, he probably would have had the foresight to avoid flying around light poles XD
This was my first RC plane. I am still flying the crap out of it. I’ve crashed it a lot, but it keeps on flying. Two things about this plane: 1) you absolutely don’t need the gps unless you want it to land itself, or need a fence. I took mine out after my second crash. 2) I have never “calibrated” the airplane. It’s not necessary.
Almost peed myself. Landed? You’re hilarious. Loved it thanks and sorry for the damage but I’m searching for the video where you fix it n fly again. Now.
Thanks for posting, Adam! At least you admitted fault. I really commiserate with your loss, though. It was painful to see. But crash videos do get "clicks"! 😁
I just crashed mine 10 minutes ago, first time flying it and I’m not trying to not blame it on myself but when I was taxiing a pulled the power back and it just went full thorottle and crashed into the side of a building at like 25 mph
I crashed my carbon cub after about 15 min into my first flight. My mind, body, soul, ached as well as my wallet... Then realizing my wife watching it happen was the worst that could happen.. A few scratches and a busted cowl... Nothing like the damages you saw.. But your attitude made the video... Keep em coming
I just crashed my Carbon Cub S2. I've seen it happen now a few times including me. The plastic wing struts are not well built. If you perform many stunts like loops and rolls, there's a decent chance that the wing struts will flex and get hung up in the aileron servo causing a crash.
For a beginner pilot, i wouldnt recommend fling that close to trees and light poles but for an experienced pilot, thats enough space to fly the Sport Cub S2. The Safe and gps might make it even more difficult to fly in that space.
thank you for the calming, gather your shit speach. i needed that. Dont fret, pick up the pieces and regroup. but damn my motor burned up and everything... okay Im over it!
Just crashed mine, boy does it hurt lol. Did a roll and some how it fell out of the sky I had enough speed. Aileron was stuck on one of the wings, may of caused the crash
First of all... Sorry about your plane. Second, you added a fair amount of weight by putting in a 2200 mAh Battery instead of the 1300 mAh Battery that was supplied with the plane. Your take off roll was long and the plane seemed to climb really slow. I bought one of these and flew it the next day. I have never flown an RC airplane before. I flew it twice without any issues. Mine was off the ground and airborne in less than 20 feet. I hope you get yours fixed and back to flying soon. Good luck!
wow dude! you have way more chill than i do. i lost my shit! spent almost 300 waited 2 days and then the autolanding malfunctioned and bam done. Damn it!!! worst of all my hero didnt record so i missed it all. Yeah that happened about an hr ago. Happy Thanksgiving.
Hey dude, if that had been a balsa model the wing would have been badly broken, the prop broken, and the motor mount separated from the fuselage. I know, I have crashed a few of those. You should have climbed above the poles. The damage can be repaired with a hot glue gun in under an hour. Finally, the DX6 is a 6 channel transmitter and will work those flaps. I know that too. I also own this model. I have flown it about 50 times. I landed into a tree once, no major damage. Get a clue dude.
I'm looking to get my first plane and everyone says to get the Apprentice because the Timber is too advanced(2nd plane). What do you think about that because I like Timber(never flown before)?
I feel a lot better about augering in my spankin' new Cessna 182 after 10 whole seconds of maiden flight. Nothing like watching $200 turn into styrene confetti :-/ Needless to say, I replaced it with a Carbon Cub S+ until I get more acquainted with not flying like an idiot. On the plus side, nice "NTSB investigation", LOL. I like how you reconstructed the wreck.
I know this is old and you have moved on but I frigging loved ! I'm telling you it was the SOUND of the plane hitting that pole that made me squirt milk from my nose!! My name is Steve and I hade just made up my mind to buy this plane Before I watched your video. Thanks for a great hardy laugh and the tutorial on how to repair a foam plane as I had yet to get into that part of the hobby yet . Cheers!
Awww, sorry buddy, I've been there. Ran my Timber into a tree during flight #4. I've treed numerous helicopters too. Depth perception isn't what it used to be. I got lucky, just dinged up the Timber a bit getting it out of the tree. How much damage did that light pole do? I really enjoy your videos, very informative, and your rather entertaining also. Keep up the good work, and watch out for tall stuff.
I don't think I could have put this on Facebook. I'd do my best to make out like it never happened. I'd buy another plane just like it and tell people that I haven't flown it yet.
I got one, and to be real wit u it wasn’t the plane, its more so where u flyin that place is a hazard to fly planes there jus change locations big dog 💯
I'm glad I didn't have a cup in my hand (usually do) when that plane hit the pole, it would have been all over my keyboard, hahaha. Great job on keeping your cool, I would have lost control of myself.
Oh dude that’s so sucks I flew mine the first time and it flew really good thanks for the video on showing me how to set it up with the DX6i transmitter
Like your style, just bad luck, not your fault, saw that pole jump out and hit your plane. I flew on a big field with just one small pole on it, and like a magnet it went for that pole. The most damage was from hitting the ground, I wonder if you had Safe mode on, if it would have levelled itself. Another thing I find strange is seeing you power on the plane and then switch on the remote, usually its the other way round
you are something else man lol, when you saw all those poles did you not think , hey this might not be the best place to do this, not to mention the electrical interference, best advice anybody could give you is never fly your planes there again
OutdoorMentor I would go at least 120ft high... don't worry this bird lands easy, I almost always dead stick land it, it glides very well. I would stay away from Auto land if you're unsure about compass calibration and gps
Adam 😁😁😁👍 you definitely are a special one. Dude you give some really hard time to un-smashable plane here. But then I watched you to get sheet of pink insulation foam flying? 😁👍 Respect man, keep going
If you're looking for a easy-beginner friendly plane get a Eflite Timber with AS3X and SAFE TECHNOLOGY. Best bang for buck and super easy to fly! Oh and good video by the way.
Dittos to this post. My eFflight Timber was my first plane, all helicopters before that. The Timber is a great flyer and easy to learn on. The AS3X technology is amazing. I liked it so much I bought it's little brother, the UMX Timber, it flies just as well and small enough to safely ride in the back seat of my truck in it's own box. I keep the UMX with me all the time for those impromptu chances to fly.
@@danfalbo I'm looking to get my first plane and everyone says to get the Apprentice because the Timber is too advanced(2nd plane). What do you think about that because I like Timber(never flown before)?
@@emilgabl9069 The Timber is a perfect first airplane. It's docile, easy to fly and land, especially in safe mode. It's a nice size, big enough to see easily, but small enough to transport in my small car. It's a lot of value for the price too. It would be a good idea to do some simulator practice if you're not used to airplanes. The Timber isn't going to be good for advanced aerobatics, but, it will do nice loops and rolls once you get good at flying it. Great to learn on and great for relaxed flying anytime.
Their made to break. It's a shame because if people suffer a crash such as that they will become pissed, dissolution'd and walk away from the hobby. "penny wise pound foolish" and is a very poor business model. They would make more money due to the success of the flyer with a entry level plane OF GOOD QUALITY!!!!!!. You hook them into the hobby and the money rolls in!
It took a lot of skill to hit that pole....awesome Adam...hilarious.
Thanks! Those hours of practicing finally paid off! ;P
Best "how not to do" flight video.
The plane actually goes where you point or turn or dive to. It has a lot of safety features for beginners but they are still working on crash-resistant radar.

Not epic! Just sad😊
Definitely user error..
How could you not see the 60foot pole? Lol
I have the carbon cub s+ as my first rc plane and its amazing! Recommend it, but read the instructions!
Thats a classic depth perception issue that can happen to the best of us rc pilots.

Man, that thing flies about as good as mine. Of course it is 6 years later, and I'm flying the S2 version.
Hey now I feel very good about my first flights lol Thanks buddy 😁🤣😂
Where did that pole come from? I swear it wasn't there when I started my takeoff!
Welcome to the world of happy flying
Almost peed myself. Landed? You’re hilarious. Loved it thanks and sorry for the damage but I’m searching for the video where you fix it n fly again. Now.
I know I've done my job when people are peeing themselves. haha glad you enjoyed it!
Lol good vid dude, glad you fixed it!

YEA, thanks for including me in your flight, im your buddy STEVE , ahh haha that did freak me out just a bit. thanks
I just crashed mine 10 minutes ago, first time flying it and I’m not trying to not blame it on myself but when I was taxiing a pulled the power back and it just went full thorottle and crashed into the side of a building at like 25 mph

😄

“I think it hit this pole” I’m outta here. Banned, CYA
I have tried everything seems to work just fine don’t be scared just do it it is awesome just make sure you’re in a clear Opened area
Benjamin Marks dead on... this thing covers ground pretty quickly
lol looks like Peter Griffin when he falls down the stairs lol
🙄No Comment, My Dad always did tell me if you have nothing Good 2 Say DONT SAY ANYTHING @ ALL 🤦🏽♂️

Get an Aeroscout. Pusher prop, eliminating damage during nose in. SAFE system, great beginner plane.
sure glad he toesn't fly the real thing.

Thanks, Steve! Good to hear from you!
it actually looks pretty salvageable from here. hopefully you were able to glue it together
Its for beginner its just that you are very bad at flying
But, wouldn't a beginner be very bad (even worse!) at flying?
Hey dude, there’s a pole over there.
You’re flying straight at it.
Bad flying spot
...but a GREAT crashing spot!
Nooooo!..... Lol, hey man lil glue... Good as new
Yeah your not flying any of my planes anytime soon and I have that same exact plane but mine don’t hit poles
Christmas is coming.

"It hit the pole". NO, you MADE IT hit the pole. Nice try blaming it on the piece of foam:)
Right
Yeah
Lmao thats busted up but good hahahahahahahahahha donk on da pole
i dont get why they dont call it the sport cub s3, there carbon line is big stuff and this is even smaller than the s2
By now, I have a weekly appointment with this video..
And by the way, I bought the plane right after the pole encounter.
Many thanks!
I got one, and to be real wit u it wasn’t the plane, its more so where u flyin that place is a hazard to fly planes there jus change locations big dog 💯
Yes, it was a bad location.
I just spit up my coffee when the plane hit the light pole lol. Thanks for sharing... subscribed
I can't stop laughing. You are hysterical lol
Haven’t found that out yet I will let you know
I haven't tried autoland either, kinda scared to lol but I have used the holding pattern no problem
I autoland you still can steer the plane if you need to

Those stubborn poles!!!
you are something else man lol, when you saw all those poles did you not think , hey this might not be the best place to do this, not to mention the electrical interference, best advice anybody could give you is never fly your planes there again
Oh no... Damn Light Pole
What are the chances of that happening first flight? Lol. You handled it better than I would.
haha I know, right! I think I was too surprised to be upset. 🤣
Ouch!...that was tough to watch
Dosiest pilot ever!#😊?
Dosiest?
You couldn't do that again outside 90 tries 🤣
Well that's it, I'm not buying one until they include object avoidance!
Haha! Now THAT would be a feature!
Sad end of your short flight. But good info.
Your vortex generators are on backwards.
That's true.
It's sods law if there's a tree poll or anything standing up or water to dive into trust me your plane WILL FIND IT
i like this guy :) keep it up!
Oh man!!! 😌
Sorry about your plane.
Lol it a good beginner plane just not a beginner flying fild i have the sport cub its been hopped up a bit and i freaking love it
Just a eflight power 10 a 40 amp esc and a 10 by 7 prop
So do u have a remaiden planed would love to see the ol bird fly again
OutdoorMentor I would go at least 120ft high... don't worry this bird lands easy, I almost always dead stick land it, it glides very well. I would stay away from Auto land if you're unsure about compass calibration and gps
lol lol lol, Charlie Brown!
WHATS WRONG WITH YOU
I'll let you know when I find out!

Read the f*ckin' manual.
hmm... mine didn't come with one of those. Just the normal setup manual.
jajajaja you make my day bro
bro I love your voice.
😱😱😱 Sorry I just can’t laugh at that, too many other emotions. Surprise, horror, & sorrow.

I think they are quality i have a sport cub that's been glued together more than once an it's still my go to plane
They are good quality, not built to crash though. It helps to thoroughly read the manual before flying and don't hurt to bring it along
I got one and I’m a beginner so now I’m scared xD
You need to just stick to airfields instead of football fields
Probably a good idea.
Lmao
lol me too!
rite lmao
😂😂😂
