- These gen-zs and their no-cap, cap, uncapped…The most frustrating part about being a sales rep is whenever anyone asks you how much money you make, you have to make a random guess and hope you’re somewhat close. My go to response is “a lot.” If we all used Everstage (www.everstage....) I’d have a much doper response - like $857,094. Maybe then my mom would love me!!!

Ha! I think I may have laughed in knowing sympathy for like 2 minutes straight. "Un-capped" commission is one of those bs corporate buzz terms that seems like a great thing at first, but in actuality means functionally nothing or (even worse, somehow) is so vague that it can be worked into whatever shape they need it to be in at any time. Another of my personal favorites in this vein is "unlimited vacation"... none of these things exist lol. What they all have in common tho is they almost always end up sucking when the rubber meets the road.

and let me tell you the story about a little thing written smaller than the contract in the Santa Clause, the Santa Clause 2, or even the Santa Clause 3 which is the "windfall clause". Plus, has anyone ever not gotten their comp plans 2-3 months in to the first quarter and told to sign and turn back in within 24 hours?
I don't sign anything without reading it. If I'm not given the opportunity, I'll decline to sign. Works frequently for me.
Uncapped commissions is Unlimited PTO for sales people. Fight me.
