Besides Terrytoons, Dayton Allen was hired at about this time(c.1948-49)by the then new Howdy Doody show to handle, as well as voice, the new puppet Phineas T.Bluster. For Howdy Doody he also voiced many other puppets like the Flubadub and Inspector Fadoozle. Live characters he played included Ugly Sam(wrestler),and Lanky Lou(Lawman). He later did work on Winky Dink-and was a regular on Steve Allens late 50s variety show.
