Loved terrytoons as a kid, heckle and heckle were my favorite. I'm enjoying some of these less known shorts. The voice of the genie sounds like high herbert,a comic actor of the golden age.
Percy the cat’s only solo cartoon without Little Roquefort Also watch out for a surprise cameo by one of the magpies from Paul Terry’s “Heckle and Jeckle” classic theatrical series @ 5:17
0:30 There's one guy who can do this, and that's Jim Tyer! Too bad he didn't do too much animation on the genie though! A total missed opportunity! Oh well, aside from that it's the usual TerryToon fair (some funny moments though). But four more things I noticed; 1. 2:52 The genie sounds like the high-mode of Percy from 'Cat Happy'. 2. 2:55 haven't I seen this gag in Disney's 'The Lonesome Ghosts'? 3. 5:14 Yeah, the racial standards of the day was pretty lacking compared to today. 4. 5:17 Heckle?...Jeckle?...

In the end the dog should rub the lamp. Then the genie would come out again & he'd be the dog's slave & the dog could use him to make trouble for the cat.

Love that genie's sense of humor. Reminds me of Robin Williams' genie.

I thought that blue bird looked suspiciously like Heckle or Jeckle!
For once, a cat in a Terrytoon has a happy ending.

5:23 Also, no blue Crow, but two offensive stereotypes instead.
5:52 And finally, you can tell that the Genie was sad to go back in after all this free time I guess. Wow! 6 points and not 4! How's that possible?
Dayton Allen (Heckle and Jeckle, Deputy Dawg) as store owner and genie.
The Genie is given a Hugh Herbert impression
