In the USA, individuals living in cars due to partial homelessness result from a complex interplay of factors. High housing costs relative to income, stagnant wages, and income inequality drive this issue. Job loss, weak social support, medical expenses, evictions, and lack of affordable housing also contribute, while systemic problems and inadequate policies further perpetuate the phenomenon.

Considering the present situation, diversifying by shifting investments from real estate to financial markets or gold is recommended, despite potential future home price drops. Given prevailing mortgage rates and economic uncertainty, this move is prudent, particularly due to stricter mortgage regulations. Seeking advice from a knowledgeable independent financial advisor is advisable for those seeking guidance.

I've remained in touch with a financial analyst since the start of my business. Amid today's dynamic market, the key difficulty is pinpointing the right time to buy or sell when dealing with trending stocks - a seemingly simple task but challenging in reality. There is not enough staff, and the staff we have mean well, but either don't or cannot do a good enough job. I was charting as an RN for 16 years and once I got to the mental facility that paid WAY less money (so I expected an easier job) I had a boss freaking out over every word I typed. Her claim is that the state would pour over every detail of the documentation and care and revoke licenses and fine the place over the tinyest thing. They do not want the mental health, they want to support their habit through their monthly SSI, SSDI, welfare money etc, but do not want to pay a share in housing rent (adult foster or care home) or pay for a small studio. There is a boomerang effect now due to how overly restrictive mental asylums were in the 18 and most of the 1900s. We’re people once could have someone put away practically forever or be highly medicated for literally nothing now patient rights are overly cautious so that a person has to be an active danger to self or other. As in you have to currently feel like your life is at risk in a situation before a police will come and take someone in for mental evaluation‘s. Movies like one flew over the cuckoo’s nest basically the worst case scenario. So now that gray area where you can’t just take someone in. The law airs on the side of overly cautious towards a patient’s rights. Which means clearly psychotic or people who need psychiatric help cannot be forced to take medication or restraint. Leaving them on the street if that’s where they are. It’s a big freaking mess. It’s a total disaster.

I have compassion for these people however up in Portland it's the same as here (I'm from Glendale) and it's unfair to everyone to allow people to run around behaving violently and aggressively unchecked. It's dangerous for the housed people AND the unhoused. This is ultimately a mental health failure but more immediate failure on the city's part to ensure the safety of its citizens housed or not.

It's sad because this is what they worked for the customers they have now they will have to start from fresh if they move losse costumers and spend money 💰 and no guarantee for success. 😒. I understand those are homeless and all of this stuff especially the part where mentaly ill can't afford healthcare they need, can't take care of themselves so they lose houses and money and endup on streets but there absolutely needs to be some border there is something like common sense where we all know how to behave in public how we should treat older people ,kids ,pregnant women and be nice and what they do is just unacceptable I understand most likely some of them don't understand lots about life they need help and be taken off the streets unfortunately a key do getting mentaly ill people off the street is to take them by force to a place that will be a welcoming place where those people will be treated like humans given all needed medication and therapy depending on their needs where they will have their own rooms and some items or other stuff that will give them some sense of freedom but also ability to heal and find something like a hobby that will help them stay on the right path but also where they will be safe if they would really want to help them . Because those psyh wards with metal furniture bad food no therapy only pills with nasty angry workers will not help them and unfortunately those type of people will not willingly accept any help even if that is a good place. And if there is a part of people who by their choice want to stay on the streets they should build some homeless camp outside the city where they will be given some simple basic housing where they can at least have bathroom and a bed and small table top and let them stay there because if someone is consciously denying help then let's leave them alone but on our terms that will stop this madness with people shiting on our streets where all of us want to walk including our kids and pets this is just disgusting that our kids and dogs have to walk on facies while in humanised cities and later this crap goes into our homes ... this is just my opinion 🤷 didn't mean to offend anyone but just wanted to make a point that this needs to change otherwise this wouldn't change based on what is done now ..

There are "homeless people" who live in cars or vans (or couch surf) but are otherwise law-abiding citizens who are clean and sober, and often hold down jobs.
The woman in this video is a STREET person - she won’t (or can’t) seek a bed at a homeless shelter because shelters have RULES, one of which is a prohibition on drugs and alcohol. Many street people are addicts and refuse to live by those rules, so they choose instead to live on the streets.

Being homeless means not having to pay rent, not having to pay mortgage, no having to pay utility bills, get free food donations, free clothing donations, live where you want, when you want, never having to work a job, pay taxes nor take on any responsibilities. I once confronted a homeless individual who described his life as being "free" as he liked the thought of wondering aimlessly, living, sleeping and staying wherever he wanted without any cares. It seemed like it was almost a fetish to him and yes he seemed a bit off like most of them, dazed-out on drugs/alcohol or whatever. Seeking assistance, means they would have to have take on some responsibility at some point, like working a job and having to earn your own food so that's why they always decline help. People need to stop showing them so much compassion as they are just encouraging their rogue lifestyle.

Don't point the finger in one direction. There is plenty of blame to go around. Its the Republicans fault for making themselves no longer an option.

My brother has schizophrenia. I am very thankful that he has myself and my family to care for him and make sure he takes his medicine. Many homeless clearly have mental health issues and should be forced into care. I live in San Diego county and the problem has gotten worse. I have sympathy for the homeless and try to help when I can. But when someone becomes a danger to society they should be placed in a facility where they are being cared for and given medicine to help.

Totally agree; there are so many people out there roaming around without their medication and who haven't one to monitor them. Shelters have rules and regulations and drug testing, many of these people won't conform. If you are into full blown addiction you won't agree to go into a shelter; that's only gonna happen when someone gets clean; it's a vicious cycle.

How do you help him take his medicine? I have a family member who refuses to take their meds. We can't force them and hospitals refuse to help. We are at a total loss as to what to do.

@@LuluBeLulu My little brother is like that and our family finally had to cut ties with him. (I say little brother because he's younger than me... he is a nearly 40 year old man at this point) Sometimes there is nothing you can do anymore. They have to come to terms with their illness and realize they NEED medication and help to function and survive. We literally bent over backwards trying to help him for years... and he put our family through absolute hell. The last and final straw was when one day I walked into my parents home to find him standing over and yelling at my elderly mother who was in bed because she had just had surgery. To this day I believe he was maybe about to do something awful to her. I kicked him out of her home via the court system. we barely speak to him now. for a while he had government housing... last I heard of him he's back on the street. I used to feel so sorry for him but I just ...can't anymore after that. I am willing to bet behind a lot of these homeless folks lie a similar past. There just comes a point where you have to think of yourself and your own safety and that of your family and you just have to move on. Our healthcare system sadly doesn't help matters whatsoever. When they are uninsured they just spit them back out after a so many hours holding period (48? i forget... maybe its 72 .... they would always do that with my brother... take him in and then spit him right back out with no actual treatment).
