I started sewing about two years ago (I'll be 53 next month), and I've never seen or heard such clear instructions until I watched your video. I wish I had learned to sew when I was younger, but you are precise in your videos and I am learning a lot. Thank you. 🥰
Thank you! Im sewing a Priest's vestment and my neckline was Wonky, i figured out what I did wrong with your instructions. Thank you sooooo very much! You are much loved.
This is exactly what I need. I bought bunch of bias bindings when I started sewing a few years ago, tried once, failed miserably, and never dared to try again. Now my sewing advanced a little as I have been doing simple alterations on my own clothes. After watching this video, I am going to give it another try as I have a dress with a neckline too high. I am going to low the neckline and finish it with a bias bonding. Thanks for your clear and easy to follow instructions, Anastasia.
I hate sewing rounds & even straight corners. I always mess up..!! I truly didn't know anything about double bias tape. This is a helpful tutorial. So I really need to practice. I'm so glad you explained stuff instead of just pointing..!! Ooooo soooo clean & neat, I luvvvv. Thanks alot..🙂🙂
Anastasia, thank you for sharing this video. I've watched many tutorials in reference to bias binding the neckline and arms, however when I followed your instructions it was really easy. I just started sewing again since high school which was 42 years ago, so basically I'm starting from scratch again. I will be following up on your videos for more detail instructions indeed. Thanks again. 👍🙏
Browsing your older videos! Finally bias tape sewing explained clearly! I used your instructions to face a thin knit sweater neckline that had started to fray. Turned out great, saved a favorite garment.
I have 2 Nuns habits to sew tomorrow and I am TERRIFIED of doing the bias tape on the neckline. I've never sewn a neckline before D: Thank you so much for this video. I am a little more hopeful that everything will come out right with your perfect instructions!
Omg! Thank you sooo much for this! I’ve been searching for hours! Exaclty what I was looking for! I’m a begginer sewist and this is the most straiforward, clear and helpfull tutorial ever on the topic! I was frustrated and couldn’t make sense of this the way it was explained in the pattern. Also I love that you explain the two different neck bias techniques. I’ve just subscribed to your channel cuz I can see you have lots of good stuff here! THANK YOU!
I'm so glad you found the tutorial helpful! It's always great to hear that my videos are making a difference for beginner sewists like yourself. Keep up the good work and happy sewing!
Omg thank you so much for this video!!!! I'm trying to make a dress for my daughter and the instructions were not clear at all! Turns out it's a bias faced neckline and seeing a video to watch the process instead of just photos is so helpful for this inexperienced sewer!
New sub here. Your videos are excellent. I wish more people would be this straight forward, well edited, and even well recorded ❤️ so happy to have found you.

Just discovered your videos! You're great and very helpful. Is there a different technique to sewing a V-neck bias facing? I watched both your videos on bias binding and bias facing for round, just wondering if there's a trick for V-neck bias facing... I'm in the middle of sewing samples. wish me luck!
Thank you for the clear and concise video. It's awesome. I have one question. Is the neckline slightly bigger neck opening with the bias face neckline? Or will they end up being the same size regardless of which technique is used? Thanks again!
Your shirt is really cute!!! That's a good idea to practice with the binding on muslin, I'll have to check out my local sewing shop to find some. Can that bias facing be used in a v-neck?
If you feel like your fabric is stretching, that may be a good idea, yes. Check out my video on stay stitching: ruclips.net/video/MtI6HL3x5uw/видео.html
I made a dress using a bias binding neckline. The neckline does not lay flat but kind of stands up around the neckline. Any ideas on why that happened? I think I will unpick and try again but I want it to work right the next time!
Hi Anastasia! Can I use the invisible bias facing technique to finish the necklines of garments made with more unusual lightweight knit fabrics (ie. not a standard jersey)? I have this cool knit fabric that I want to use to make a t-shirt dress, and I quickly realised that it's not the sort of fabric you can finish with a neck binding or ribbing as it is too lightweight. Is the bias facing method the answer?! :D
You probably need to pull the bias binding over more or do the first stitches closer to the outside. Getting it correct and straight takes practice. When teaching, I have students do a practice a few times because it's not something you necessarily get perfect the first time. Keep sewing!

You're welcome 😊
Hi, I love the video instructions thank you very understandable 👍for me being a newer at sewing.
Your very welcome 🤗
Thank you for this. I am wondering about knit necklines and sewing knits in general, do you have any videos out on that?
Thank you! Very clear instructions. Any instructions for sewing onto a somewhat stretchy fabric, such as light weight cotton thermal?
You might want to try using a zig zag stitch or a stitch for stretch fabrics.
Thanks for the video! Can you use the second technique with knit fabric?
Yes you can.
Thanks! This was great. Do you have a video with a bias facing on a V neck?

I watched both your videos on bias binding and bias facing for round, just wondering if there's a trick for V-neck bias facing... I'm in the middle of sewing samples. wish me luck!
There is a trick to sewing the V neck bias facing. I am not sure if I have a video on it. I will check and add it to my list.
Thank you for this video... its so nice the way you teach. When would you use the different bindings?
Well one is visible & one is not. So it’s up to you if you want to see the binding on the project or not. You can use these to finish any raw edge.
This was my question as well. I guess I was over complicating it. Visible/invisible, simple. Thanks for the question and the answer.
thanks! super helpful :)
Awesome 👏
Thank you for the clear and concise video. It's awesome. I have one question. Is the neckline slightly bigger neck opening with the bias face neckline? Or will they end up being the same size regardless of which technique is used? Thanks again!
Yes. Bias facing will increase the size of the neck opening by the amount of seam allowance. Thanks for watching and happy sewing!
Your shirt is really cute!!! That's a good idea to practice with the binding on muslin, I'll have to check out my local sewing shop to find some. Can that bias facing be used in a v-neck?
Thank you 😊 You can use bias facing for a V but your going to have to cut the binding at the same V angle 📐 . It is a bit more complicated.
Should you stay stitch the neckline before applying the bias tape in either application?
If you feel like your fabric is stretching, that may be a good idea, yes. Check out my video on stay stitching: ruclips.net/video/MtI6HL3x5uw/видео.html
Why does this video have only 23 likes? It’s such a shame!
aww thanks. Feel free to share it with your sewing friends :)
Are these techniques usable for stretch fabric like t shirts?
Totally!
Hi can I use this bias binding on a stretchy fabric aswell?
yeah you totally can!

Happened to me too 😕
Will this work on knit?
Yes!

Yes you can! You will want to use a knit fabric for the bias facing though.
@@SewAnastasia Giddy up - I'm so happy I've found the solution! Thanks mate :D
Very good. But connecting the ends and finishing them on the opposite side was not clear on how to do it. Thanks
Sorry. Hope you got it to work! Thank you for watching.
Can I do single fold binding on a jersey knit t shirt ?
You can. You have to be careful it does not stretch out when you are sewing a woven to a knit.
❤
Sewing the first fold of the bias inside is ok but my problem is once outside I can not hide the first sewing or sew it correctly and straigt
