At most plants it's nothing like this, even now in 2023. At my plant we max our 60 hours every week in the summer. It's brutal. Dollar Generals with 150 cases.
wow - lots of information! Just came across your channel. I do not have a CDL but was very informative on the pre-trip. I'll be checking out more of your videos in the near future. Always thought about getting my CDL.
Hey, Cody. New subscriber. I just found your channel this morning. Back in the mid-80's I did the beverage route thing with an extended tandem side-bay roll-up. My tractor was a Chevy C70, 427 gas/Fuller Road Ranger 10spd. I LOVED that job. Same routes, same customers every day. I knew everyone by name. I really hated to leave, but I was offered a job by SYSCO and took it. Even though the money was better, I hated it. It took me a year to make peace with THAT decision. Thanks for the videos, Man. Be safe.
That’s awesome man it’s crazy to see how it used to be and the changes along the way. Thanks for the kind words and for supporting the channel. Stay safe on the road!
Love the content Cody! I just got my CDL in August. Been searching for a job for about a month and I actually landed one with Pepsi. I start next week!
@@Codystruckingadventures it’s the best career. Tough but rewarding been doing it 10 years now and operating equipment all my life it’s a lot of fun. No prob man always here to help and support still hold my class A so feel free to ask anything.
Thanks for the video man i appreciate the pre trip demonstration. Very informational. I will be starting cdl school in about a month. Is there anything I should be study or preparing myself for?
Thanks Tyler I’m glad it helped! I would just watch and study up on the pre trip that way when you get there you’re already ahead of the game. As far as everything else goes you’ll learn the driving and backing technique once you get there. Also, I would study and recommend getting some endorsements added such as Double/triples, tanker, and hazmat. That way you can pretty much drive anywhere once you get CDL experience. Keep me updated on your journey that’s awesome!
I was "grandfathered" in when the CDL thing started, so I did not need to do the road testing part. But I helped train some of my fellow drivers to take it. I saw guys fail just from the pre-trip part of the test. Some people just don't test well under pressure, you know? At the time you had 45 minutes to do that part. So I told these guys to just take all the time and go over EVERY part of the truck even if the examiner got bored.
I just finished school and going to apply to Pepsi. Is it harder for a new guy to get a route like yours doing just pallets or will I end up doing the retail stores?
Hey man i notice you drop and go, I've heard pepsi and most other beverage delivery is known for having to stock the product in the stores, if you don't mind me asking, how come you don't?
I have my cdl a and hazmat, double/triple, and tanker with 3 weeks experience in cdl school. Do you have any contact information for current (no experience required, bulk driving)? Will relocate if needed.
Honestly the best way to do it is search Buffalo rock jobs in area and put in an app and then call the local terminal and ask to speak to the hiring manager that’s what I did! That works way better man!
Hey Cody, how common is it to have a mechanic fix a issue you may have found on the truck within an acceptable time frame.? Your truck looks fairly new so I am not sure if you have experienced that kind of scenario. I am sure that if your unit had a serious issue you would have the ability to snag the truck and use another until it was resolved or is that a mechanics call? I ask because I know and hear plenty of things that need attending to on many trucks including Pepsi owned vehicles that are not a priority until you are left in a parking lot on the road side broke down. Here is one example, the hydraulic tailgate doesn't want to completely fold up without having to make several attempts at it, due to either lack of grease, hydraulic oil or an electrical issue. To me that's a rather high priority and should be taken care asap but continues not to be because of other possible issues in the fleet..? It certainly can ruin someone's day!!
They usually fix the problem pretty quick my truck is a 2015 but most of the trucks we have are fairly new. The trailers are the main issue we run into
@@Codystruckingadventures what if I get my CDL A permit then apply for Pepsi and if I get hired then they send me to a school and I’m paid while in school?
4 pallets at a Walmart?
That merchandiser will have an easy day.
I worked for Pepsi in my area for almost 7 years..... it was NOTHING like this! You got it made bud!
I’ve heard all the horror stories and I know it I’m lucky, lol.

Do they have an automatic pallet wrapper in the warehouse? Those pallets look wrapped extremely tight and secure.
Yeah they do they use a machine and it’s does a great job!

Cody, How long is your trailer for Pepsi. And if you have driven anything longer. Love the videos keep them coming.
Awesome question and thanks for watching! The trailer I drive is 53 feet that’s the longes that I’ve driven! Thanks for the support!💪🏼🙏🏼
Hey bro do have to stack the shelves in the stores or u just drop the pallets
Just drop the pallets👍🏼
Hey man i notice you drop and go, I've heard pepsi and most other beverage delivery is known for having to stock the product in the stores, if you don't mind me asking, how come you don't?
Bulk delivery drivers drop it off at the grocery stores. The retail routes stock the product in gas stations and smaller stores. Thanks for watching!

do you pass into a weighing scale as a delivery?
They have scales and weigh each pallet at the plant. Or at least where I’m at.

Yeah most of the time it won’t focus especially when in the trailer. I had to record that clip a few times to make it more clear haha.
