I had the priveledge of being there that day… the cup final was sooo special back then … the whole build up and had watched it on tv in my childhood years n then to actually be there walking up wembley way soaking up the atmosphere before the game was something I’ll never forget
Great game and a great memory to look back on from 10 May 2022. The double could so easily have gone to Everton. It was an incredible end to the season, with Everton and Liverpool going neck and neck. I still think of the great Jan Molby run and shot that was saved and Ian Rush's near miss for an FA Cup hat-trick. I felt sorry for Steve McMahon never getting a kick off the bench (he had been injured), and remember, too, Paul Walsh's superb form that had kept Liverpool in the hunt for most of the season. I also went cool on Craig Johnston after his attempt to claim Ian Rush's equalizer for himself. I thought he was joking in the interviews after, the claim was so self-important, but there he is killing himself to try and tickle the ball over the line as if making the decisive contact. I thought that a bit small and a lot selfish.
The day liverpool put the final nail in our coffin, after this day evertonians could never ever argue or dispute who rules the city ,this is the day we handed the double to them, well done everton.
