    As a Jamaican I would have known most Jamaican men don’t appreciate men doing their hair unless they are getting an haircut shape up or shave. They don’t like women to give them a haircut, shape up or shave either. Tonya did her best to get you an emergent appointment. She’s learning your culture and you hers as well. This is a great learning experience. Stay blessed!

    13:10 People in Jamaica are busy as well my sista. Also there are salons that have walk-in policy here as much they do in Jamaica. However, Jamaica Is a little more laid back, and you're able to find what my past cosmotoligist teacher called , " mango tree hairdresser ," more frequently. Those are the unlicensed persons who you can pop up at random time and get your hair and nails done. But they're businesses in Jamaica where appointment is required just like it is here in America.

      So what's the difference with a man trimming your hair and shaving your face? Isn't it the same difference? Why can't he do your locks? I can't see the rational. It's your mindset that cause the problem. Jamaican men thinks like that but they are braiding their hair and shaving their eyebrows like women do. They are behaving contradictory to what they claim they are against.

If you are uncomfortable with a male doing your hair, then what are Barbers for? There really is no difference in my opinion.

    Hi Guys, I'm a fairly new subs and love, love what I've seen. I went back a bit just to get to know
    you both. I've never commented before and would have gone on being a silent watcher but felt I had to say something when you said you were so mad at your wife you did not speak to her all day for not knowing you would not want a man doing your hair. That irked the ish out of me!!! I'm Jamaican and truly did not know this was a thing; but did you tell your wife? Why did you wait for the day before your trip to get your hair done? Now you're panicked and mad because she didn't know what you FAILED tell her. Then got your friends involved, like how come you did not know that, Tanya? Kemar, DO YOU KNOW ALL THINGS AMERICAN? I see her teaching you over the years with patience and love. There are times when we do not know what we do not know. She did everything right; research, etc and you dared to treat her like that; the day before your departure, I bet you did not apologized because even now you can't understand how she did not know this!!!!!! I can only imagine what that good bye was like and how she felt. I love and admire you both fr fr.. YOU'RE DOING THE DAMN THING.

    JAMAICA has always been known for these things, if your not familiar with the "CULTURE" from jump there's things you may miss, here and there, Kemar "Memba seh" ya wife isn't one of those people dat grew up "de inah" Brooklyn enuh, so there isn't "a Winston, a Marlon, a Devoy", around her parts growing up lol.
    So it was a great example for you Tonya, and a great experience for you Kemar, continue learning and exploring, Toya just a suggestion look into the "Maroon" culture in Jamaica 🇯🇲, you will find it fascinating about a nation with in a nation, These free people that conquered British and gained independence.

    🤣🤣🤣Okay, this one had me laughing from beginning to end!! Tonya is not wrong because she didn't see a problem with it. Now, on the other hand, Kemar is ABSOLUTELY correct in his feelings. I don't know of any Jamaican men who would sit down and have another man wash and a massage-up dem scalp....and thinking, "ummm dreads long" 🤣🤣. NOT going to happen....straight up!! (no pun intended) 😎

  • @EricaYE6
    @EricaYE6 7 месяцев назад

    Well, your wife didn't know your preference when it comes to who does your dreads. Now, she knows. We got an old saying here in America, "When you know better, you do better." So, she was not "wrong". She did what most of us (especially most of us girls) do. And that's book an appointment with the salon that has the best reviews. That's what matters to us; who's the best at what we need done. But, I understand there are cultural differences to take into consideration at times.

    The average Rastaman or 99.9% of Jamaican men will "ROO" (Very upset) if they found out the person refreshing their locks, in particular is male...... In the words of Beenie man's song that popped into my mind ...."Straight prison". Locks is a spiritual thing.🙏 Still enjoying your content, wishing you much abundance. ❤💛💚

    God bless you Catonya... because you are very patient and understanding and helpful to your husband..I understand both sides..To each his own.. but I got your back because my husband is like that too.. Catonya just didn't know that a male hairstylist would offend Kemar as she explained she has had a kind of hairstylist done her hair so its not a problem for her...so she just didn't know..she didn't do it on purpose

    I had to laugh Kemar and Tanya. Jamaican men don’t like no gay man doing their hair, so it’s best not to book a man to braid their hair. On the other hand, they will go to a man barber 💈😏. Tanya had no way to know he was gay and many American women don’t be thinking like Jamaican men. We want to get the best person to do the hair. Gay men often can slay the hair, but she didn’t know. I say, even and Kemar can book his own last minute to see what happens 😅😂

    I don't blame Kemar he is from a homophobic country I would leave to, go easy on your wife, she was not informed about how Jamaicans felt about gays she is from a different country where gays are accepted. This reminded me of an appointment i had, I went for a breast ultrasound and the lady called and said your clients is here then she mentioned the name. I asked her if it's a man she said yes, I told her I don't want a man I rather a woman she try to convince me to stay. I said to her, it's my choice to have a woman other women came to this country claiming they want only women so what is the difference when I asked for a woman. Then she rebooted the appointment with a woman quick and fast, I aways prefer a woman for that kind of service she also said you are booked for an hour I did not feel guilty at all.

    Nothing is wrong. It is a job. Remember most barbers are men, additional styling is just a more advanced duties . It is a job so there is no right or wrong if a man does another man hair.
