Your explanations have been perfect and reassuring for the purchase I made of a Spuhr S-4616 ISMS for the Kahles 525i DLR 34mm tube Left windage optic to be mounted to the pic rail of a newly arriving Tikka T3X Tactical A1 with foldable stock. Awesome video. Super helpful. Been scouring the internet for guidance on what height Spuhr mount to get for my LPVO 28mm objective lens. Only curveball now was near the end about not going to low of a height because that can be an issue as well. Super helpful to also know the lowest height wouldn’t work for me because it’s a Trijicon.

    Good info. Helped me decide on my Spuhr mount height.
    Also, speaking of height; aside from shooting ergonomics and comb height, The main reason for the bell needing to be close to the barrel is to offer the ability to zero closer without the wasted elevation. Especially on a bolt action with a 20 or 30mm riser.
    I’m choosing the Spuhr with zero MOA because my 338 Lapua has a 30moa rail. Were I to add a higher mount, I’d run short on elevation trying to zero the scope at 100yds.
    Charlie Mike!

      Some claim that you can pontetially get a flatter trajectory with a scope mounted higher. I used to have scopes as low as possible, now I use the 1.38 inch mount. No difference in zero, but my shooting ergonomics are improved with the slightly higher scope.

    I just recently purchased a Scar 20s and have it equipped with a nightforce actar 5-25x56. I want to upgrade my mount. This video was very helpful... I am def leaning to buy a 1.5 in mount from spuhr. Can you please send me a link for mount with potential discount code. I know you work closely with the company.

    Could you answer a question for me please?
    I have a Scar 17, with a full rail going all but 2 inches from the end of the barrel (16"). I am purchasing a PMII 5x25x56 for mounting onto it. I am dead set on purchasing a Spuhr mount (for the build and reliability against the power of the Scar). I plan on shooting from 50-800 yards regularly.
    What would be the ideal Spuhr mount for this setup?

    will a higher mount reduce the scope elevation adjustment range?

    • @LKN4WAR
      @LKN4WAR 3 года назад

      No a higher mount will ultimately allow you to have a lot of cant and larger objectives. Very high magnificent will limit elevation tho if using that magnification like 30x etc. the lack of enough MOA in the rail and or mount can limit the usable turret range by having x number of mils or moa below 100 yard zero for instance.

    Looking at the online catalg for Optics Planet all the Spuhr heights are expressed in Metric. Even in this video the scope's bell size is expressed in MM but the narrator insists on using Inches. Really? Sure this helps but how about being consistent? Yes its an easy conversion but the narrator is sloppy despite his great resume.

    • @nickc2124
      @nickc2124 4 года назад +4

      rick hess Spuhr also also expresses their mounts in inches. This man is from America. America uses SAE. Hence why this man uses inches. Glad I connect the dots for you...
