I must have watched ten videos before yours, and not one video answered my question until I viewed yours. Thank you. Your video should be at the top of the feed. I am now a subscriber.
Thank you, Mr. Beckstrand! Your explanations have been perfect and reassuring for the purchase I made of a Spuhr S-4616 ISMS for the Kahles 525i DLR 34mm tube Left windage optic to be mounted to the pic rail of a newly arriving Tikka T3X Tactical A1 with foldable stock. You are an excellent educator and expert!
Wow... This was the most informative scope mount related video i have ever watched on youtube. Thank you for sharing such important and critical information to us new shooters who need to get a better understanding on what scope mounts to go with!
Thank you so much!! Exactly what I was looking for. Was watching vids for days trying to figure out what Spuhr mount I need for my Precision 300 Win Mag + 50mm scope + Pulsar Krypton 2 Thermal attachment (future). Awesome!!
Awesome video. Super helpful. Been scouring the internet for guidance on what height Spuhr mount to get for my LPVO 28mm objective lens. Only curveball now was near the end about not going to low of a height because that can be an issue as well. Super helpful to also know the lowest height wouldn’t work for me because it’s a Trijicon.
I'm late but about damn time I've come across a video that puts all models in one instruction on both continuous picatinny as well as traditional bolt. Will be sharing this
Good info. Helped me decide on my Spuhr mount height. Also, speaking of height; aside from shooting ergonomics and comb height, The main reason for the bell needing to be close to the barrel is to offer the ability to zero closer without the wasted elevation. Especially on a bolt action with a 20 or 30mm riser. I’m choosing the Spuhr with zero MOA because my 338 Lapua has a 30moa rail. Were I to add a higher mount, I’d run short on elevation trying to zero the scope at 100yds. Charlie Mike!
Some claim that you can pontetially get a flatter trajectory with a scope mounted higher. I used to have scopes as low as possible, now I use the 1.38 inch mount. No difference in zero, but my shooting ergonomics are improved with the slightly higher scope.
I’m about to purchase the Bergara HMR Pro with the heavy barrel which I believe has a #6 taper barrel. I plan on going with a scope that has 34mm tube and 56mm objective. Should I go with a 1.18” or 1.35” height?
I have a Vortex Razor 3 on my 6.5 CM Sabatti EVO. It’s zeroed at 100m. Question, I have quick release Spuhr mount, can I remove and reattach the mount from the rifle without losing zero
Another great video instruction. Thank you. I am looking to mount a Steiner M7Xi 4-28x56 to my factory AI AT308 w/20MOA low pic rail. Is 30mm 1.18" or 34mm 1.35" height preferable? Thanks - J
@speedloads So for a mk12 styled AR15 SPR rifle with a continuous Pic rail, scope is a Trijicon Credo 2.5 - 15 x 56mm, would you suggest the Spuhr SP-3002 Scope Mount Ø30 H38mm/1.5" 0MIL PIC scope mount?
Could you answer a question for me please? I have a Scar 17, with a full rail going all but 2 inches from the end of the barrel (16"). I am purchasing a PMII 5x25x56 for mounting onto it. I am dead set on purchasing a Spuhr mount (for the build and reliability against the power of the Scar). I plan on shooting from 50-800 yards regularly. What would be the ideal Spuhr mount for this setup?
Hey Tom, I just recently purchased a Scar 20s and have it equipped with a nightforce actar 5-25x56. I want to upgrade my mount. This video was very helpful... I am def leaning to buy a 1.5 in mount from spuhr. Can you please send me a link for mount with potential discount code. I know you work closely with the company. Thanks, Omar
If I have a 20MOA rail can I still get 0 MOA uni mount? I have an AI AT and have had trouble in finding rings I have a schmidt and bender PM II 5x25 scope looking at sphur 4001 I believe 0 MOA 1.18"
I may be missing something or just dumb but is the height they advertise in mm the height above the rail? If I had a 38mm with 20.6 MOA built in, would the eyepiece be 38mm or the objective lens?
No a higher mount will ultimately allow you to have a lot of cant and larger objectives. Very high magnificent will limit elevation tho if using that magnification like 30x etc. the lack of enough MOA in the rail and or mount can limit the usable turret range by having x number of mils or moa below 100 yard zero for instance.
Looking at the online catalg for Optics Planet all the Spuhr heights are expressed in Metric. Even in this video the scope's bell size is expressed in MM but the narrator insists on using Inches. Really? Sure this helps but how about being consistent? Yes its an easy conversion but the narrator is sloppy despite his great resume.
rick hess Spuhr also also expresses their mounts in inches. This man is from America. America uses SAE. Hence why this man uses inches. Glad I connect the dots for you...
Finally, an instructional video that tells you EXACTLY how it's done.
Thanks @Vince Hughes!
I've been watching 20+ minute videos all day looking for the information you just gave me in 3 😂😂 Thank you so much
I love how to the point these videos are. Nothing but great content.

I just bought an Eotech Clipir-eXLR thermal and was curious what height mount was needed. Sounds like the 1.5 based on this one!
Great video! Thanks a lot for this useful summary!

What inch you recommend on a M1A LOADED for a 30mm scope
Hey @Hollowpoints9mill, thanks for your question. Can you be a little more specific? I'd love to help you out
Excellent
Anything with about 1.8". 34mm tube?
will a higher mount reduce the scope elevation adjustment range?
