"Même un shredder iconoclaste comme Paul Gilbert a des racines blues. Aussi, lorsqu'on lui a proposé de jouer sur un play-back créé pour l'occasion par Florent Passamonti, notre maître ès 12 mesures maison, on pouvait s'attendre à quelque chose de surprenant ! Voilà le résultat, accrochez-bien vos doigts, ça pique !" GUITAR PART (mars 2012) Видеоклипы
Paul makes no money sitting here..so I appreciate him simplifying his massive styles n skills down to 1'4'5 blues.
I always loved EVH as a player , but ... Paul is the quintessential guitarist . He's humble , a joker , not arrogant
And a great teacher
That's the great thing about Paul. He's a monster shredder, yet he doesn't lose sight of the fact that rhythm guitar is such an underrated art unto itself with many voices and flavors that can really spice up your playing.
Anything PG plays!!!
Covers it all, one of the most versatile players ever.......
I've heard him talk in several interviews about how playing blues has significantly improved the feel and tonality of his metal shredding. Which is ABSOLUTELY true, for anyone who reads this.
In the past couple years, half of anything new or decent I've learned, as far as technique and soloing style, has come from Paul Gilbert tutorials. He's so generous with this stuff
Absolutely!
I could watch him playing for hours, he's so pleasant
The more I watch Paul the more I adore not just his amazing skills and approach, but also his extraordinary humble, warm, and down to earth aura.. It's super cool to see that a rockstar can be that nice.. Keep it up Paul, you're the best!!
The best.......agreed. On all fronts
one of the best videos that "makes it look easy". Paul Gilbert = legend
Beast. And a cool guy.
This guy has his own style! He plays the blues that sounds like the blues should but it's a beautifully unique take on it and it sounds so original and cool! What a boss.
You guys are crazy! The mans timing is perfect
GREAT... Paul you're a great teacher
O , yeas.Even I'm Russian,I anderstand what he is talking about. ;)
Qie du plaisir à écouter, quel guitariste, quel musicien ..je kiffe et belle personne..
Paul's tone is ALWAYS on point. Doesn't matter what genre he's playing, his gear is always dialed in PERFECTLY.
I find it Infuriating.
And another awesome lesson. Makes palm muting sound great, and what he’s says is right.
Probably the most helpful video I've seen on youtube... Ever.
Faaaantastic, he´s one of the coolest, sypamathic guys!
A good lesson for everybody who´s groovin.
Thanks Paul Gilbert, as always well done.
Super Paul. He is the best all of time
What an absolute legend!!! Love him to bits
very humble guitar player! one of the best of all time!
Master muso ... One of the best going around and down to earth
well to me this playing was soulful, full of meaning, and down right engaging
Salute to this musical musician...truly thoughtful...
Awesome tone. I love it!
Those are some fresh strings he's got on there, and those pickups sound AMAZING!
I love this guy when he say the girls going to pay attention too :P haha have many friends will say exactly what he says if he say it in this way .. he is an excellent teacher
Cant understand why i have just heard this guy what a great player so talented and seems like a very down to earth guy unlike some so called guitar gods.
+saltire546 Doug Aldrich is another fantastic guitarist who is well grounded as is Rowan Robertson.
Dude...ya gotta dig into his archives. .Hes the most ! (boy that was corny ). "the most"
Too late to retract.
There are 2 guitarists that could read me the phone book, and keep me hooked.....
Mr Paul Gilbert.....and Mr G.E. Smith.
If they ever wanted to take a break from playing, they would KILL on lecture tours.
Great musician, good teacher with sense of humor ! :-)
This kat can play anything you got...Axeman extraordinaire ....Valuable info..love ya Paul G..great AXE player, Legendary
I'm not a guitar player and not a music expert. I just wanted to say that, after listening to many guitar players, I can say that every guitar player have their own character and uniqueness in the way they play. I can't describe the differences but by listening carefully, we can tell the difference. Paul has his own style, so whatever music he play, it will always be played with his style.
Faaantastic, wooonderfull!!!
9:02 LOL that face!! Damn I love this guy.
I love how he mentions Keith Richards and then in the example you can hear a bit that screams like it was lifted right from "Start me up". so awesome.
thank you for sharing this...
best teacher ever
this is soooo awesome...
Love how he keeps the soul in this
Paul Gilbert..just fkn awesome in every way
paul is soooo cool!
Paul has always given the rhythm special care, and it shows in a great way in his album "Fuzz Universe". It's insane!!
That tone is just too good to be true
What knowledge... what skill... what a great instructor! I really appreciate that he admits he's no BB King, but BB King is no Paul Gilbert either. Thanks for making it fun, Paul.
B.B. could shred!!! According to rumors from a tech......he could play whatever he heard but kept with the act....pretty cool.
What a great lesson. ... Man.. hang out on the RUclipss long enough you'll find priceless stuff. ;))))
Just the greatest!
fully awesome!he can play everything.i want long finger just like him!!!
He makes everything look easy
Awesome, wish i had that kind of touch

Paul é fantástico!
Thanks Paul!!!
It’s weird/cool seeing Paul play the blues. 😃👍🤘🏻
Very useful! Thank's a lot! :)

Grandma Mary
Amazing
Paul Gilbert has been my guitar hero in 5 different decades now!
Просто праздник какой-то;)))))
Top 5 coolest dudes around!
You can take the boy out of the shred, but can't take the shred out of the boy.
hachewie You can take the yapping boy out of the internet, but you can't take the yapping out of the boy. Come on dude; most guitar players repeat themselves too much. Paul is still doing something fresh, even if his shredding licks are obvious here and there. His blues is still very impressive and he knows what is all about. His mentality is spot-on. It's very easy to criticise but incredibly harder to achieve something by yourself. Have a great day.
Retro Walkthroughs This is not a criticism, merely a comment. I love his playing and his attitude/personality. I learn a lot from it. He is one of the greats.
You are quick to critique though. I am frustrated at how making a comment on youtube becomes a personal attack. You seem smart enough with your intelligible response. Have a nice day.
Matthew Slager Doesn't your comment sound like a "quick critique"? I wasn't attacking you, I was defending PG here. The internet is full of malice comments and your sounds like one. Please, express yourself better and fully next time. Cheers bro!
Retro Walkthroughs "You can take the yapping boy out of the internet, but you can't take the yapping out of the boy." This is what I took personally, and the most malicious comment in this whole thread.
There is significant difference between critique and criticism. Take care and play on. That's what this video is all about. Playing guitar.
hachewie You could have admitted that your comment was not precised at least. Almost every comment in such a way is a criticism of PG. I've read many of those about "how Gilbert sucks in everything apart from shredding" and your comment sounds like one of that type. I only attack others in defense of someone else/something. Internet is merciless if it comes to such situations. I'm sure you know that.
I love PG's look in the beginning....he looks like he pulled an all nighter :D
Smok'in Paul... Heard a little Stevie V in there... 💥💥💥💥💥
Guitare héros et altruiste
Respect Paul 👍
Nice groove !
Rockstar a shredder became a cool blues player absolutely cool
Haha! I love Paul Gilbert!
"The girls will pay attention to" 😁😁😄😄
God, he can play everything
After two years looking for a firemen guitar the local guitar center has one, that is one beefy guitar.
A real genius !
"J'ai le blues ce matin" Im gonna use this now.
something interesting, THAT clean sound you can only get it with a Marshall plexi. It took me decades to understand this but it is a fact.
Who in the whole world can give a dislike to PG or this video, I just don't get it.
4:00 PAY ATTENTION, GUYS!!
Sweet!
6:45 pretty cool how you tucked the pick away to pluck, then retrieved it right back. No prob.
Effortless, everything.....inspired , humbled
My guitar god :)
Ahahahah 🤣 'the girls pay attemption too' 🤘🎸🔥✨
This guy knows his stuff. He's the kind of gut I'd like to hang with.
Paul Gilbert is a rock-player who learned to play bluesy but his timing is that of a rock-player though he has some nice melodic ideas that most "real" blues-player would not use.
Are there any tabs for this? Some substitutions are awesome and i cant figure lots of parts out.
I got the blues...........this morn'
Il donne une lecon de blues d'une belle maniere ce Paul !
Like that little chord what ever it is. You can move it anywhere and it sounds good.
A blues jam between Paul Gilbert and SRV would be the best.
Its so cool to see GOD on RUclips :D
Paul, I'd love to hear that guitar with one of those early 1990s Ibanez RT style bridges on it. I personally feel the single coil guitars just sound better with a strat style bridge than with the tune-a-matic.
Where can I buy those "soulmeters" and "feelingmeters" that some people are suposed to own? Paul rocks!
he's definitely a virtuoso
I get what you're saying. I've got no problem with a guy with smart fingers. More power to 'em. I just can't agree with you that "Paul has all of B.B. King's soul"... let's not get carried away here. B.B. has more soul in one fingernail than most of us will ever know. He's one of the tastiest players there is in the blues world. A living legend. Lucille sings, while most others just play notes. Some folks play the blues, while folks like B.B. are the blues.
I'm not sure about those who disliked the video. Probably some djs. Hahaha..
He's so talented. Just watched him play a guitar with a drill
I can't stop but to wonder how strong Paul's left hand fingers are...
Woooow ... Great Paul , I love you !.... Would you please give us a tip, how can somebody get that sound in terms of effects ?
Your tone is your tone... Dont try to sound like other guy, the world is too wide to waste your time on that. I did it a lot of time ago, but once you start feeling what you do, you will not want to sound like any other, even if its Paul Gilbert.
nice
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🎸
Gilbert can plays blues better than "only blues" guitar players.
I disagree pretty wildly. While I might phrase it a little more generously than Christian John's comment below, there's truth in what he said. I think Paul Gilbert is an amazing guitarist, but blues is not his genre. Sometimes the flaws give something its character. His timing is so impeccable that he plays like a metronome, not floating in front of and behind the beat in the way that the "only blues" players do to add tons of feel. Gilbert -- awesome, but not better at blues than the blues guys. The blues guys -- awesome, but can't shred like Gilbert. All that being said, this is still a nice video.
well i think paul is not playing blues actually.
It is like kind of blues rock and he is trying to fuse those blues in his rock style.
(in my opinion only lol)
Very versatile guitar player and with strong awarness what he's doing.
Watch some BB KING AND BUDY GUY before you say that
Nick Hughes
Probably you don't know what you talking about...
Paul is so cool lol. I think he’s aware he’s not a “traditional blues player” he’s just doing his own take on it and showing us what he’s doing. I’d rather hear his blues than the usual kind anyway
Do that and the gilrs pay attention too... You are Da Master!!! jajaja
this ibanez sounds really good for the blues
His pinky is the size of most people's index finger
PAUL PORQUE NO TENES TRADUCCIONES EN CASTELLANO DE TUS CLINICAS.
