Please consider that piston ring(s) are to wear out quite quickly in this kind of little engines, they are prone to lose part of the performance in few working hours, and most of the time seize. They had to be rebuilt nearly after every race, also because they used to run on quite lean air/fuel ratio to get as much rpm as possible, that increases firing temperature and wear out of the parts (as the oil is to be washed down from the moving parts), without an air filter.
18.5 hp from a 50cc engine is amazing. I bet it would have shown even a little more hp if there were a fan in front of the bike blowing at the speed it reached. There is a fan blowing, but judging by the guy's pant leg it's nowhere close to 110 kph. Reason is I would think the carburetor is positioned to get the benefit of the airstream creating a ram effect into it.
Comunque tanto per disquisire mi sembrano molti 15000 giri per un 2 tempi di quel genere ..conosci motori della stessa cilindrata ed epoca che lavorano a quei regimi ? grazie ciao
Joplin ZoO Beh tieni conto che è quello del video è un mezzo da competizione. In ogni caso Suzuki i suoi cinquantini li faceva girare a quasi 20.000 giri e Honda li superava pure, ma in quest'ultimo caso si trattava di motori a 4 tempi.
Certo come dici tu erano 4 tempi ! Sono un appassionato di meccanica e non voglio insegnarti nulla ma anzi vorrei imparare ! per quanto ne so io i motori 2 tempi hanno un buon rendimento termodinamico sino a 13500 - 14000 dopo di che anche se e'possibile farli girare piu'in alto la potenza non aumenta per il semplice motivo che i tempi di aspirazione lavaggio scarico sono troppo ridotti per poterla incrementare Spero di essermi spiegato ! Un esempio lampante sono i motori da modellismo che girano a 20000 giri ma non hanno bisogno di potenza per il ridotto peso della vettura ma bensi'tanti giri che si trasformano in velocita . Ciao ! ps conosci forum dove si discute questi argomenti ?

I used to think that 7.1 HP from a HONDA MB5 50cc 2-stroke was incredible! But 18.5? WOW!

99percenter1 the carb is probably reversed, so that dirt doesnt fly into it, because it doesnt have an air filter.
Yes, better air intake, then more fuel could be mixed in
