What made The Carter 3 a classic was the buildup to the album. I was maybe 15 at the time and Wayne was on a historic run. As a fan of Hip Hop, as a kid growing up in during that time, Wayne was our Jay Z. That album was everything when it dropped. I can’t really put it into words how incredible it was. To me it’s in the top 20 best hip hop albums of all time. Maybe I am biased but that album made me look at hip hop differently.
It’s not even the build up if a album has 10 songs and 7 are classic songs then the albums classic simple as that the Carter 3 is a certified classic arguably the greatest album ever considering the build up and the hype surrounding it.

Because I'm not even a huge rap guy, but this is the album that drew me into the genre and started me listening to more rap. Now does that mean it has the best rap chops, production, sheer talent? Maybe not, but it's undisputable the impact this album had, and if it can get people who don't even like rap to listen to it, I think that may be a good case to make for saying it's one of the best out there.
some of the songs didnt age well but off the impact plus the quality its a classic to me, albums like C3 and 808s shaped the game into what it is today
