It has something to do with what we call "green" and "blue" being considered two shades of the same color in some languages, like Japanese and Chinese. I mean... it makes sense. They're practically next to each other on the visible light spectrum. That doesn't excuse the shoddy translation, though.
This is probably based on the Chinese sub/dub where they localized Blue Eyes White Dragon into Kanzi as 青眼白龍. There is literally no way to tell that the character 青 (qing/ching/ao) indicates the color blue or green.

Then, on Yugi's turn, he plays Diffusion Wave-Motion, which, at the cost of 1000 life points, allows Dark Paladin to be the only monster that can attack, but let it attack ALL of Kaiba's monsters. Dark paladin attacks the first Blue-Eyes, dealing 1900 LP of damage. It attacks the second, dealing another 1900. By the third attack, Kaiba should already be out, but Dark Paladin doesn't care. (Anime differences) Dark Paladin GAINS ATK in the anime, as, for some reason, Fusion Material Monsters are not sent to the Graveyard. Also, in the anime, something which I took into account in my discussion is that De-Fusion gives Kaiba back his Blue-Eyes. In the actual card game, this would not happen.
it gives back the materials but does not end the opponents turn, so kaibe should have been able to attack red eyes, dealing 600 damage and preventing yugi from activating his spell card.
I love how Kaiba is just in shock with Yugi's play, he can only repeat the name of the cards that Yugi are activating and just slowly realising that he lost (He didnt even noticed that his turn has ended, Yugi has to remind him xD)
In my opinion, THIS should have been the Battle City final, not Yugi vs Marik. Yes Marik was ultimately the greater threat but it felt like there was more buildup to this.

The music, "Passionable Duelist", is like the fucking flagship song to Yugioh. I watched the dub originally, then came around to the original, so I know what the fuck I'm saying. The dub changed the plot. They ruin the card animation. They censor everything. They turned a dark, deep story into a 'save the world' kids story. They erase character development to fit in jokes and catchphrases. It's your opinion, but is anything I listed untrue? No. That's why the original will always be better.
Midori in Japanese can mean both green and blue. That's no excuse for the subbers as the voices clearly say "blue-eyes", but I'm just saying. P.s. I'm not Japanese nor an expert in the language, I just merely know this fact from watching enough anime. I think in the old times, they used to call both green and blue "midori" for some reason. Somebody more knowledgeable can correct me here.
I don't know about about older forms of the language, but Ao is the typical root used for blue, typically with the form "Aoi". "Midori" is typically taken as green, as you said. I watched a good part of this series under these subs a few years ago, and errors like this were consistent and commonplace, as though the subbers had never even seen the series, and as though they were fed the transcripts to translate, but nothing else. That said, "Midori" isn't used anywhere in the transcript where "buru aeissu howaitto doragon" - a phonetic translation of "Blue Eyes White Dragon" - was concerned. As a point of fact, the transcripts were probably written with roman characters, as the name itself would have been spelled with katakana, where they most definitely should have translated the name as it was given. If nothing else, this was either a lazy or a trollish translation of the series. I'm kind of surprised, given the fact that the franchise is still ongoing, that this original series has not been taken and officially subbed yet, as so many other series have been. Or, perhaps it has. I haven't watched this series since long before studios like Funimation started to join the subbing crowd.

No. "Diffusion Wave-Motion" (the TCG name of this card) works with Spellcasters Level 7 and higher. "Dark Magician Girl" was able to use "Diffusion Wave-Motion" because she was summoned by the effect of "Magical Academy", which upgraded her Level from 6 to 8.
Three ways Kaiba could've won this duel. 1. Use XYZ Dragon Cannon's effect. 2. Switch Obelisk the Tormentor to defense mode and then used Life Shaver. 3. Use Monster Reborn to bring back Obelisk instead of the third Blue-Eyes.
Japanese voice really brought out the intensity of Yami and I think they a very good job doing the same thing in English. When Yami spoke it was almost always a declaration of war and if you missed it....good luck lol.
To be honest,Kaiba got this wrong from the moment he activated magic card that left him and yugi to only have 3 cards in the deck,i mean,even jonouchi would guess that you are going to fusion summon Ultimate Dragon,of course one of the best card to counter that is De-Fusion.

De-Fusion says nothing about ending the turn even in the anime. Yugi just straight up robbed Kaiba's declaration to end his turn knowing that the guy has no more play left.

実際ブラックパラディンでブルーアイズ一体倒せば4900から3000のその差1900のライフで遊戯の勝ちなのにわざわざ拡散する波動で全滅させ完膚なきまでにとどめを指す遊戯ってマジでヤバい。
この場面の究極竜は束ねられた海馬の憎しみの比喩で、融合解除により分裂させた青眼全て倒すことで海馬を憎しみから解放するという友に向けた遊戯のメッセージなんだよ。
第一話のエグゾディアでも特殊勝利なのに三体の青眼が吹き飛んだような演出がされててその場面のセルフオマージュにもなってる。

アニメの融合解除は解除した後、「このターン攻撃を終了する」という効果があるのでバトルフェイズは終了。海馬の手札は0なので出来ることもない。だから正確には「アルティメットの融合が解けたことにより、(出来ることが無くなったので)貴様のターンは終了となる」で、説明に語弊があるのと遊戯が勝手に宣言しちゃってるというツッコミは分かるけどルール上は間違ってない。
そのセリフの後に海馬の何！？があるお陰で変になっちゃってますよね😂
これのちょっと前にノア戦で融合解除してから攻撃できてたから、それが理由でほとんどの人は困惑してるんだと思う。

全部倒す必要あるのってコメントも見るけど、海馬の憎しみを一掃するという意味では全てのブルーアイズを倒さないと終わらない。単なるカードゲームのルールに留まらない演出も、遊戯王が名作である所以。

融合解除でターンが終わるのはおかしいってネタにしてる人がいるけど、0:07の説明通りアニメの融合解除は「融合を解除し、このターンの攻撃を無効化する」。なのでこのターン海馬はもう攻撃が出来ず、手札がないのでエンド宣言するしかない。つまりルール通り進行しても結果は変わらない。おかしいのは「アルティメットの融合が解けたことにより終了」という遊戯の説明と、遊戯がターンを終了を宣言して、海馬が「何！？」というリアクションを返した点なんだよ。
でもアニオリで海馬のデッキ引き続で戦ったノア戦でアルキメットで殴ったあと融合解除で3体で殴ってたよね…？
アニオリが絡むとルールに矛盾が起きるのはよくある話。例えば闘いの儀は原作ルールとして魔法を相手ターンにリバース出来ることを活かし、遊戯の攻撃に対し死者蘇生をリバースし迎撃で勝ちを狙う展開。対してアニオリで大幅に内容が改変されたアニメでラストの展開だけを再現しようとした結果、バトル終了後に手札から死者蘇生を発動して攻撃出来ずエンド宣言で消えるオシリスを蘇生し勝ちを宣言するという意味不明な展開になってる。最後の最後までデッキを信じて戦うのを信条にしてるアテムが手札5枚残して負けを認めてるのも違和感あるし。
ただこの動画の場面では原作・アニメどちらのルールを想定しても勝ちに繋がらない真紅眼の戦闘破壊という悪あがきしか出来ないからやっぱり結果には影響しない。

他の方も言ってるように乃亜戦で解除してから3体青眼で殴ってたから融合解除の効果には明らか矛盾が生じる。

Japanese voice really brought out the intensity of Yami and I think they a very good job doing the same thing in English. When Yami spoke it was almost always a declaration of war and if you missed it....good luck lol.

To be honest,Kaiba got this wrong from the moment he activated magic card that left him and yugi to only have 3 cards in the deck,i mean,even jonouchi would guess that you are going to fusion summon Ultimate Dragon,of course one of the best card to counter that is De-Fusion.
Stop insinuating that Jono Uchi is bad, he only has less knowledge about cards than Atem and Kaiba, that's why he lost his duel against Kaiba, otherwise he would have win, attacking Kaiser Seahorse rather than Blade Knight.
@super saiyan rose actually Joey is not trash. He has many Filler loses in the Anime.
In the Manga:
- He never battled Kaiba in Battle City
- He never battled Yugi in Duelist Kingdom.
They made Joey a bitch in the Anime. For instance Bandit Keith was dodging Joeys punches like it was nothing. However, in the manga Joey beats Keiths ass up and tells him that Keith it maybe good at dueling, however he himself is good at beating up people.
However, you are right in one thing: Kaiba and Yugi are better. Since they are the Reincarnation of powerful people from the past.
So its safe to say that Joey is a good duelist,but not as good as Yugi and Kaiba
De-Fusion says nothing about ending the turn even in the anime. Yugi just straight up robbed Kaiba's declaration to end his turn knowing that the guy has no more play left.
