This is a true test of faith... Our son was born premature at 32 weeks and survived 17 surgeries over his first 2 years of life. He lived 20 years after those surgeries, but was called home to Heaven 5 years ago. Our lives were so blessed to have our angel Derek in our lives. It will never be the same moving forward...

May God have mercy on his soul. I hope you will see him again in heaven one day.

You can be the physically strongest man in the world and be broken down immediately when you have a child that’s in trouble and out of your ability of control. Very time I saw our preemie son in the nicu i seriously felt as though I was going to pass out from all of the emotions. My wife was the strongest and helped me cope and get through the time until he came home. And yes I spent many nights standing over him watching him sleep and making sure he was breathing. He is 30 years old now.

Such a scary time for them. I love her/
his candor and openness and honesty about it all. As a famous person she doesn’t have to be so forthcoming with her story but she is very open about it which helps other couples and parents. I am so happy for them that their son survived and is healthy.

I was 2lbs 7oz when I was born in a little town in Minnesota in the 60s without all the machines they have now . No long term problems . Much to be said about small town Drs of long ago .
