This is a true test of faith... Our son was born premature at 32 weeks and survived 17 surgeries over his first 2 years of life. He lived 20 years after those surgeries, but was called home to Heaven 5 years ago. Our lives were so blessed to have our angel Derek in our lives. It will never be the same moving forward...
You can be the physically strongest man in the world and be broken down immediately when you have a child that’s in trouble and out of your ability of control. Very time I saw our preemie son in the nicu i seriously felt as though I was going to pass out from all of the emotions. My wife was the strongest and helped me cope and get through the time until he came home. And yes I spent many nights standing over him watching him sleep and making sure he was breathing. He is 30 years old now.
Such a scary time for them. I love her/ his candor and openness and honesty about it all. As a famous person she doesn’t have to be so forthcoming with her story but she is very open about it which helps other couples and parents. I am so happy for them that their son survived and is healthy.
I was 2lbs 7oz when I was born in a little town in Minnesota in the 60s without all the machines they have now . No long term problems . Much to be said about small town Drs of long ago .
I just lost my child and says my story was a little similar with the placenta abruption.. my son was a fighter.. and we honor him.. I choked up when I saw the man get emotional when he said his name.. ty for this story
