George, I don't know how you retain so much knowledge in that gorgeous brain of yours.
Aww thanks! It's flattered lol
I myself traveled from West Germany to East Germany on the train in 1982. I also took pictures and had my camera taken out of my hand and the film removed. Empty camera returned to me unlike your aunt. I put more film in and took more secret pictures. I treasure them. That’s cool your aunt did that too! Hadn’t thought about that in a long time. Great video thank you👍
That’s fascinating! You are so fortunate they let you keep the camera and you got images
George, I never tire of listening to your immense knowledge.
There is 2 seasons of a competition show called Blown Away..on Netflix. shows glass artist as they compete making art glass .. I highly recommend it 💎
I've heard that! I need to check it out. I've lived around a lot of glassblowing, it's a thing in Centralia, WA where the antique stores are
Re: Match strikers. "Strike Anywhere" matches are needed for these. Unless they have the white tip on the end, that striker won't work. I used to have one of these that had a round piece of sand paper glued to the base but I sold it. It's difficult to get Strike Anywhere matches anymore tho, I did find some on the internet. I think they could be a safety hazard. I've heard that a mouse in the house can get them lit which would not be good for a mouse or a house. Thanks George. Enjoyed it.
That's true, I should've mentioned it, it had matches with it so I didn't give it another thought! Does have to be the Strike Anywheres. The important thing is that the mice not become pyros
Hallo George, my wife and I are fleamarket hunters too, and in the years of spending our vactions in the US we have visited a lot of the fleamarkets, antiquemalls, thriftstores, jardsales etc..What we found is, that the definition of what is antique and what not is in the US very different to Europ.By the way, your voice is very pleasent and very good to understand. You will be in the future our guest in our livingroom. Greatings from Germany 👍 🇺🇸🇩🇪
Hello! I'm so glad that you're enjoying the videos, it's exciting to know people in Germany (where there are so many true antiques) find this entertaining. Antique has to be 100 years old or more, so much of what we see is actually "vintage" (under 100 years old). I hope to see you in comments in the future!
You are a wealth of knowledge! Thank you for all you do.
So nice of you, I am honored to do it!
Heyo George thank you for sharing your knowledge, I enjoy learning about all kinds of items & you cover it fabulously!
Had a fun score @ a Yard Sale today, a Waterford Snowman for $1. Not a vintage item but a score none the less. ⛄️
Wow what a good deal! Waterford is always worth buying if it's priced right
so much extra information in these videos 💟
Thanks! Only thing is the Lalique piece turned out to be a Fenton with a faked signature. Good to know the difference, the Fenton has a higher hexagonal base
Luv your grandmother what a brave woman
She was amazingly intrepid
Thank you George for educating us on the history and manufacturing of a wide selection of collectables.
Always learn neat stuff from you, George! Can’t miss any of your videos! Neat things. Thanks for sharing! 💚
Truly enjoyed the items and the history behind them. Thanks George😊
Cool Paul Miller hedgehog. I have a Paul Miller kingfisher, beautifully done.
I bet it is! This cute piece was well made, I can imagine how nice a kingfisher would be
Hi George, I wanted to say thank you. I noticed you slowing down on showing the bottoms and backs. That and let it focus in a little better, I really appreciate that. I'm kind of a hands on person regarding learning, and seeing is great for me. Great video, have a good evening.
That's great, Shawn! I'm trying to learn to go a little more slowly
Torquay was where the great British comedy "Fawlty Towers", with Monty Python's John Cleese, was supposed to take place. (I should have known you'd mention this, George!)
Loved that series 😊
Funniest sitcom EVER! “ OH, BASIL…?”
@@lisanicu2000 I totally agree!
I love that show! The deaf Antique dealer episode rang very true with me, I’ve known a few like her
@@TheAntiqueNomad The one who was unhappy with her view? Lol!
Dansk had a store in Carmel, CA. I had so many items of theirs in my hope chest when I got married. 💕
Yes, they had great stores! I went to one somewhere in Virginia I think back in the day
George you’re knowledge amazes me, I love you 💕❤️
Just bought your book. Can’t wait to get it. Anyone looking for his Treasure Craft book, Amazon has it. Only a few left so hurry to give yourself a Christmas gift.
That's so kind of you to say! I do have some for sale as well.
So much information , thank George
Thank you Randall!
I luv your videos, so interesting & you always share some much knowledge 💜💜💜
I think Chi-Chi’s was in Canada too. I definitely remember holiday decor like your Jack-o-lantern. Great video! I learned so much once again! Thanks George!
Fascinating tidbits re the items, especially the bookends.
Thanks for sharing.
Georgia
My pleasure and yes those were from an interesting place!
You did a good job educating people about our beloved Torquay pottery! Thanks!
There's so much more to know! I really enjoy Torquay and only thanks to my viewer who sold pieces to me did I realize how much more there is to learn about their wares
I loved this show. I can't add anything new ..in fact most everything I've heard you say was new knowledge to me.
Ok...im fully excited to see an hour long video. Yay!!
Omg! I am Polish, but I live in the U.S. this diary makes my cry🥲 . Thank you ♥️🥰
That's wonderful, it was so nice to see something that showed the rebirth years for a lot of central Europe. I toured Poland a few years ago and it was a remarkably historic, yet remarkably modern and lovely country
Not a collector but so enjoy watching and learning.
I actually worked at a Chi-Chi's in Minnesota in the early 80's :) Remember "fried Ice cream"? Fun memory.
My favorite! You were there at the inception
If those plaid Levi's jeans were women's I would buy the pair in a heartbeat. I am, as they say, Mad for Plaid.
Great video George! Thanks for sharing!
Minolta merged with Konica in 2003, then the photography division was sold to Sony in 2006. I still have a Minolta XG-1 and a caseful of lenses from about 1980.
I read that somewhere too. I guess consolidation is happening everywhere
George it's Monica. I'm a member now! Did you see?
I joined your RUclipsr videos. I'm a nomad woman. LOL yay!
I’m so thankful! It really helps me be able to drop other things to take time for RUclips. We’ll get you in the credits shortly
Thank you, George! Always love your videos!
Thanks!
Toronto has a great team, I watch UK football my favourite game
A number of years ago my granddaughter wanted chocolate fondue for her birthday. I was using fuel
I set the tablecloth on fire I’ve never done another one.
Thanks so fun to watch 😁
What up George got a day to binge watch finally!
Have fun! Glad you're "catching up"
Hi George from Portland oregon I missed you in Portland so sad!
I'm sorry too, but there'll be an even bigger version of same show next July!
I'm so glad I found your channel, I Love all the history you share about the pieces!
Thank you I’m glad you did too!
@@TheAntiqueNomad Your welcome!
Thank you, so interesting.
I love all your videos George and wanted to comment on the bathing Beauty figurine. I’ve never seen one and I just love that her cap is red. It’s gorgeous and of course I’ll be looking for something like it. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing all these treasures.
I remember chi chis in Indiana in the 90s😄
Hi. George from Birmingham 🤩

Hey, George! I left you a message on EBay regarding the European Diary. Couldn’t share it so publicly.
I am so sorry I didn't get to respond faster
Hello!
What's up?
Sometimes there's an echo!
Wording out of sync with your intro video
Do you leave the tarnish on the silver when you sell it? That citrus knife is so lovely as it is.
I do! I only polish if I absolutely must
Thank you.
Thank you!
