Great video Noel. You can see how much his swing changed with your advice. It seemed like when he started hitting balls his swing plane was a little below his shoulder socket compared to the practice which was above. Great stuff for me as I think I would benefit from higher hands and more width on the downswing 👍🏻👍🏻

Hi James Thanks for checking out the video. It is always interesting to note how the player's downswing intentions affect the backswing. I think in this case Neil's intention to create lag by pulling the arms in had led to even lower hands in the actual swing than in the practice. And that was before our intervention.

Great information. What if one has short arms but a stockybuild as this gentleman. If one tries to get arms too high there is disconnec?. Paul Casey and Louie Oostuhuizen swings seem to have mastered this move. Rory seems to have shorter arms that are moved closer in to chest. Guessing a well informed coach as yourself can unpack all this variance instead of suggesting a model swing for a mismatched student. Complements to your insights.

I have low hands like John rahm and tony finau so will start trying this to get them higher,I think Ben hogan on the ed Sullivan show has me having my elbows touching my sides, now you can’t go around like that he says but I do and have forgot to then lift them away from my body, enjoying your videos .

Thanks for watching and I'm glad you're enjoying the videos! The swing definitely needs some amount of arm elevation and not just for power but you will then be able to feel them drop in transition too. Keep practising and you'll see progress! Very interesting that the two players you mentioned are immensely powerful but they are very much the exceptions to the rule. All long-drive athletes advocate arms up.

@@GolfCoachDrNoel thanks for the reply the hands are falling in transition not being pulled down what part of the body to I concentrate on while the hands are falling

@@garrymajor7528 I would actually focus on pulling the hands around the handpath, (away from you and down in a circular fashion) while moving your pressure to the left foot in a small, lateral shift. TBH it is difficult to be prescriptive because it all depends on where we are coming from with our current pattern. It’s quite common for me to give completely opposite advice to 2 sessions in a row based on the students history and dominance in their pattern.

Thanks dr Noel will try that today my full backswing is only halfway back so a lot of work to do.
