As a massive movie fan, I love physical media and believe in keeping it alive! Every Tuesday I go blu-ray/steelbook hunting at Best Buy, Target, Walmart or Barnes & Noble to see what new release blu-rays or classic films I can find!

Honestly these Black Friday "deals" are mostly disappointing. They are backstock with not only no slipcover, but not original "y-fold" plastic wrap, but what looks like last minute cling wrap. The only deals that feel valid are Vacation. A Christmas Story and John Wick 4. I may buy a couple but I definitely miss the days of old Best Buy Black Friday when the sales ONLY existed on actual Black Friday and Saturday where you got $2 DVDs, $5 blurays and $10 games in huge amounts. It made things so much more exciting.
I'm really surprised that The Pope's Exorcist isn't 9.99 at Best Buy or anywhere else.
Same with Violent Night.
I saw both in theaters. Enjoyable enough, but not something people are going to really remember. They were top picks for me to guess would be $10 or less.
@@ninjafoxgamesgeekery yea it's always weird what movies are picked for Black Friday sales. Sad that this may be the last physical media Black Friday for Best Buy. I've always enjoyed seeing what gets put on sale. I'd prefer to go physical store and not rely on websites.

I picked up: 2 Guns, Elvis, Nightmare Before Christmas, Super Mario Bros., and Dungeons & Dragons 4K's from Best Buy, all for $9.99 each. Shazam 2 4K I ordered from Amazon. In other news WandaVision just shipped from Disney Movie Club.
I haven't gone to Best Buy today on new release Tuesday. I will go tomorrow to see what they have. Your video made me happy for what Best Buy has for Black Friday deals. Very nice! Thanks Sue!

About 80% of the main Hollywood releases you were surveying I already have on steelbook. My heart sank when you showed the Hunter Killer steelbook for $11.99 since I paid full price for it upon its initial release. Lol. I bought (via online) Equalizer 3 in regular casing since I didn't have 1 & 2 in steelbook. Steelbook wasn't available upon initial release so...🙄🙄🙄

@Movies&Sue, I get the frustration with Walmart and Paramount Plus. The reason they have that section is because Walmart has a deal where when you sub to the Walmart plan which gets you discounts for buying groceries online, you also get Paramount Plus built in for a year. That’s why they have the Paramount Plus section. It’s contracts. I agree with you and my Walmart also doesn’t have the steelbooks either. It’s frustrating so I know what you’re saying.
Also, Walmart here took out a bunch of anime and Disney films to put in the Crunchyroll section with manga books and such. It’s so frustrating because one of the movies they removed from Disney section is the Lilo and Stitch double pack. We don’t get silver steelbooks and slips for Lilo and Stitch and now they removed it from the regular Disney blu ray section as well. I’m hoping with the live action movie next year we may see a big push with Lilo and Stitch with the movies and tv show on physical media but it’s still disappointing to see it get less love than some other Disney properties which is sad because it’s just as popular as the other movies and shows.

Theaters were History and Best Buy was saying physical media was also History. So you have years of disdainful attitude 🤔 at physical media.
This mindset is still there and Best Buy followed through with their original plan and this last gasps at best buy are obvious with their black Friday's underwhelmed display. Their heart was never behind physical media. It was just tolerated. Good News in general worldwide it has numerous outlets online selling physical media and even Dizzney is coming out with Disc because this niche product proved more resilient than expected. I ordered online and stayed lean this year. Upgraded A Clockwork Orange and Wolf of Wall Street to 4K at a low cost. And finally got Puss in Boots, haven’t seen it yet. Considered many others but the deals seemed sweeter at a lower quantity. I wonder what the Best Buy clearance sales are going to look like

I'm 99% sure the best buy company came out and stated they weren't parting out with physical media and it was a false statement that was exaggerated online. They're only parting away with dvds and basic blu rays and staying with 4K releases going forward. So I dont think this is the last physical media black friday. Maybe for blu ray buyers but lets be honest everyone mainly only gets the 4k releases during this time of year because of the crazy price drops and with some of the 4ks including blu ray and digital.
If that's true, that would be great, but I believe they're getting rid of everything.

I'm keeping an eye on certain steelbooks. They're eventually going to have to clearance sale if they're getting out of physical media.

I've been buying physical movies on black Friday from multiple sellers for decades (mostly shipped) and I rarely get slipcovers. When you can get a $25 4K for $7-10 I'm not gonna complain about the lack of a piece of paper. Much of black Friday stock is produced for the event and they don't include slips to keep the manufacturing cost down. When you get a slipcover it's usually because it's a newer release like Fast X or Transformers Rise of the Beasts that still have slips remaining from the original pressing.
I've never understood the fascination with slipcovers. I'm picking these up to watch the movie in the best quality possible, not for some paper surrounding the packaging that usually duplicates the cover art. Only time I went out of my way to get a movie with a slipcover was the Reservoir Dogs Steelbook with the removable ear, and that's because I'm a huge fan of the movie and it was a unique design. To me, passing on a good deal for a common movie because it doesn't have a slipcover makes no sense.
BTW, I found Edward Scissorhands Bluray on sale for $3.99 at Best Buy. Heard there's not much difference in quality from Bluray to 4K so happy with this.
@@invicta6110 More for a collectors purpose cause it looks better with the slipcover, no denying we're all buying to watch it in the best version possible but some like to have a complete looking collection with the slips on their movies

I went to Best Buy and got the Equalizer 3 4K Steelbook, Blue Steel Blu-ray and Everything Everywhere 4K Slip cover
They usually don’t have slip covers if the movie been out for a few years.

Same where I Iive (Eastern Europe). I do have a few slip covers ..but they are a few exceptions (not many) 😅 Most of my movies are without them (cuz they don't even come with any).
In germany most releases also don't have slipcovers. We are very big on mediabooks for some reason and often new 4K releases get forced on us as expensive steelbooks only. -_- But compared to other countries we can still consider ourselves lucky.

Picked up 6 of the sale movies at Best Buy and 3 off the Gruv sale. Hoping the Jurrasic Park steelbook set goes on sale. I had a pre order up for it but when I heard Best Buy is dumping physical media I canceled it in hopes of the price dropping. Worst case the basic 4k set goes on sale regularly

Blue is my main favorite color.. Jennifer looking beautiful on the cover too ..but ,,nope'' for a guy Iiving in Europe. I don't want other versions for those Hunger Games movies (that I can find even that steelbooks pack). I want MAINLY THAT BLUE pack version 🤬 (to even display it with that front cover on a shelf) 🤩

To be honest Sue , I care less that Best Buy stops selling movies , I rather buy online , save money on Gas and Time and Fighting Traffic , Here in Baton Rouge, Louisiana It's A Nightmare !!!
I'm the same way cause sometimes I get social anxiety when I go up to the register to purchase my movies, don't ask why. But the thing about buying online is, what if the slipcover/steelbook comes damaged? 🙁 luckily, I've only purchased 2 steelbooks EVER online and they were not damaged. But I always hear horror stories about it.

I am extremely disappointed in the sale. I've never seen anything like this before. I go every year. Every place seems to be the same. Either it's old stuff or it's a few dollars off IF that. This is suppose to be the biggest sale of the year.
I just got equalizer 3 dvd coming from Amazon as one of my pre-orders and I got saw x dvd coming next week. Only other thing I got coming in December is indiana jones and the dial of destiny dvd. Not much out there to write home about in the way of physical media.
What? There's a TON of awesome releases on December 5th!
I'm gonna wait to the last days or weeks or month just before Best Buy decides to get rid of all Blue Rays, and that's when all these movies is gonna go on an out of business like sale for the last of the physical media. I can bet you all those movies are gonna be on a 1,99 sale.

the best buy here hasn't had physical media in two years. and the F.Y.E. has reduced their physical media a half. it's tough being a physical media hunter.

Better off going to a thrift store. And live streaming is taking over, DVD are no longer relevant. You barely see DVD players being sold anymore. Don't get caught holding movies and DVD hoping prices will increase, just my opinion. Enjoy shopping

This isn't something new for this year. When it comes to Black Friday slipcovers or hit or miss especially if the movie's been out for over 6 months
I can only speak for my store. And every Black Friday, my location would get a brand new shipment of movies with slipcovers.
