it allways amazes me how aquaponics can overflow so easily. i have 25mm pump side and 50mm outlets and it still can overflow if something happens like you showed.
With you having over a decade of experience now I'm super excited to see you build a whole system from scratch on new farm. Will be interesting to see any changes to what you did in old videos. I just got my system started all based off what you've done. Only one ibc grow bed and one ibc fish tank so far. But greenhouse will fit over 6 beds and 3-4 fish tanks. Almost fully cycled now on starter.
@@RobsAquaponics yes I mentioned there will be 6 beds but once fish are established I'll be adding some channels or maybe some vertical growing. 20x24 greenhouse so lots of room. All in floor heat with 250 000btu wood boiler for our lively -40 winters lol.
Good Day Rob, Glad the system move is going ok. I wish I had the space in my back yard, the system I'm setting up is off grid, so getting all the power in place is costly but finally getting there. It would be great to see you build a small system 100% off grid. Have a good day. Dan
Cheers Rob and thanks for sharing.. Ohhhhh, things are moving along nicely now.. Plenty of ideas that are running through my head watching these and your advice is always inspiring.. I too need to get a wriggle on with the new lay out of the system and shade house as I think that we are going to have a blistering summer over here in the West.. Again cheers for sharing.. Will try and catch up with you during the week for a chat.. Thanks buddy.. and yes you will catch me on the next one.. 👍
Maybe with luck when you find the right farm to buy you can up size your aquaponics system & earn some money from it as well as feed your selves just a thought and iv already subscribed to your other RUclips looking forward to the contents off both good luck
Thanks Gary. I'm really interested in making a fodder system with a system to see how that goes. Would be great to be able to supplement some of the feed needed for our small homestead. through the dry months.
@@RobsAquaponics iv looked at this myself for future use there are plenty of post on RUclips ie "Low Cost Hydroponic fodder System" - Farmers point which is hydroponic grown might be of interest to you & again good luck with everything
Hey good day mate Chris from Florida USA . My question is I just went to ibc I have 3 1 is the tank 2 will be cut to make 4 beds and another will be used as a sump tank can I make 4 bell siphons and have them empty at different time or do 3 have to be continuously and only 1 bell siphons that's my question thanks man
They should all be able to have individual siphons Chris as long as you make the sump deep enough. 3 beds cut at 1ft deep & filled with media will work OK with a sump of 150+gal. I would aim to have the sump as large as you can as it will stretch out the time between top ups a bit more.
@@RobsAquaponics I've bought two varieties of clay minerals. Things are doing much better now. In fact as usual with new products I overdid the application, so now I have a lot of algae. But that is okay because I also discovered new tiny fish fry, so that will give them a good source of food and a place to hide for the bigger fish. I just let things play out and I am not too worried about the algae. Most of the time it disappears even faster as it came. But now my strawberries taste delicious, and very sweet. It's almost as if you are eating a pure cube of sugar. And the snails and other insects do not eat the strawberries. They can't digest that amount of sugar.
arriving this week, 10 different varieties of dwarf red/black tomato seeds, do you want any, can send a list, once i grow some, ill harvest seeds, better than growing a tomato that is 3 meters tall in a grow bed @@RobsAquaponics

Hi there Dan.
Good stuff mate 👍🏽
Cheers Shams.
You do make it look easy to do, I'm sure that a lot of thought and preparation went into the design of your system. Looking good !

Nice to see a new system build never tire of builds cheers buddy
Cheers Sandgroper. Looks like we may have found a property so there will be a few more new builds coming down the line.😉😁

Nice one Rob. You should be able to add on a few more beds once the fish start to produce more waste.

I should have enough panels to set up at least one off grid system with an 18v pump hopefully Daniel. Just need to get the batteries lined up.
I look forward to it.

Could I potentially raise a few cat fish in a sump tank? I saw you have one
You can but keep in mind that you may be pumping a load of waste into the main fish tank depending on how you have the water plumbed up.
