  • Should Christians replace holiday celebrations like Christmas and Easter with the Jewish festivals outlined in the Old Testament? Jesus and His earliest disciples observed the feasts of Israel, so why don't modern Christians do the same? Dr. David K. Bernard answers this timely question in this special holiday episode.

Thank you for your teaching. This world needs sound bible teachers as you are; using the word of God wisely as it's written, not carried by every wind of doctrine out there. God's continued blessing upon you in Jesus name.

‘Because the Church isn’t Jewish…’ - I thought, and it seems Dr Bernard has a similar position. I’ve celebrated Seder at Pascha with my Jewish friends and Messianic Jewish friends - and it was wonderful to see ‘Christ in Food’…. So you can certainly learn from the Feasts - but you would have to do your due diligence to learn about the feast themselves and do them properly - and you most likely wouldn’t fully understand the culture…

Why does UPC celebrates easter with eggs and bunny? What about trunk or treat? This is an honest question because I can’t understand why?,shouldn’t christian put more focus in Christ than in those pagan things.
Please son’t take me wrong,I love UPC,but I just can’t understand why include eggs and bunny when it is literally clear that it’s not right.

Yes, amen, and that’s why we do remember the Jewish feasts in their seasons (in a non formal way of course). Like you pointed out it’s a matter of Christian liberty. We as Christians do it for the same reason that Christians regularly read the Old Testament along with the New Testament and the same reason that we strive with all that is within us to be careful to keep the 10 Commandments for the purpose of continual remembrance helping to keep us from stepping out of line like the Jews stepped out of line, and I mean WAY out of line!!! Man must live by every word of God. Matthew 4:4. I strongly believe that there is a reason why God wants the all the future generations of his children to remember these feasts in their seasons, that they may know what they represent and that they will appreciate exactly how they apply to their lives.
    ➡️Leviticus 23:4 KJV
“These are the feasts of the Lord, even holy convocations, ➡️➡️which ye ➡️➡️shall proclaim in their seasons.”⬅️➡️➡️➡️Lev. 23:V43 That your generations may know. . . ⬅️

Also trunk or treat, people come to church because that it is something familiar to them, but shouldn’t we be imitating Satan? Trunk or treak is just like Halloween. And it is confusing . Please please don’t take me wrong. I am seeking a clear explanation🙂🙏🏻

Most of the time when we have doubt about a certain practice it is because the Holy Spirit is convincing us that God does not approve it. Read these passages as reference Colossians 2:8, Deuteronomy 12:29-32, Jeremiah 10:1-5.

It is not mandatory. But if we celebrate them is not a sin because they are biblical. What is a sin is what is contrary to the Bible.
    WHAT IS SINNING?
Sinning is breaking God’s laws, which is the Word of God.
“Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.” (1 John‬ ‭3:4‬ ‭NIV‬‬)
“The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.” (Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬)
““Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬-‭19‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

They are not just Jewish feasts. They were given to the 12 tribes of Jacob plus the sojourner that was with them. 12 tribes split into House of Israel and Judah. House of Israel was divorced by Yeshua and assimilated into the neighboring areas to be known as Gentiles. House of Judah wasn’t divorced because of David. At the time of Jesus(Yeshua in Hebrew) all that was left was Judah who were called Jews. So………If all you focus on is NT writings, context will be far from you, evidenced here in episode 139. Jesus was crucified on Passover and not Good Friday. Buried on Unleavened Bread and rose in 3 days and 3 nights later on First Fruits which is always the day after the Sabbath. The bottom line is this: If you are ignorant to the Feasts of the Lord, you will for sure miss the fall feasts as well which are Divine Appointments kept by Jesus (Yeshua).

Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Not only are you very wrong, You are directly contradicting the very words of Jesus. I would not want to be you on judgment day! Just for the record, the Passover is about the death of Jesus. Israel being liberated from Egypt on that day was the shadow. Easter is a Babylonian holiday celebrating a sex goddess. The whole point of the Holy Spirit was to write the law of God on our hearts. Speaking in tongues means nothing if you are not being led by the Spirit to honor the intentions of Gods eternal law.
"Deu 13:1 If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, Deu 13:2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; Deu 13:3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Deu 13:4 Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him. Deu 13:5 And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee".
You make Jesus and the entire new testament false doctrine worthy of death in your interpretation of what Jesus and other new testament writers said and taught.

I observe the Jewish new year, but do not celebrate or observe any of their feasts. The Jew couldn’t even keep their laws or oracles of faith. They were an adulterous nation. How is the fatherless, lawless, Gentiles who never received the oracles of faith that included instruction on their feasts supposed to keep the law or observe their feasts. Thank God for the Apostle Paul *ROMANS 6:14* *For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.*

The context in Romans 6:14 is about PENALTY, NOT walking away from the TORAH. 2Peter 3:15-18 warns the reader of Paul’s writings to not fall in the snare of misunderstanding him and becoming lawless.

So is the house of Israel after the diaspora. I just gave truth in my post, and can back up all with Biblical verses. Unfortunately, Christians say they don’t have to keep the Torah, but then say they keep only the moral laws. Moral and ceremonial are made up terms. BTW, the word “under” in Romans 6:14 refers to penalty. @@JerubbaalgodSlayer

@@soybeanfarmer4576 the context is that stush shulamite here, like myself, has died with Christ. Our new man, related to Jesus now and no longer to Adam, CANNOT be under law becasue the law has killed us already, and we are now alive in Christ. Some call that grace, I just say we are under the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus. Either way, all that OT stuff was fulfilled in Christ and has no hold on a dead man, stush's old dead man.

I guess fasting is pagan. And praying is pagan. And reading the Scriptures is pagan. And being benevolent is pagan. And worshipping God is pagan too. The period leading up to major Christian Feast Day - is a time of preparation with a focus of lessening our passions by increasing our repentance, of participating in God’s redemptive work in His Creation… Simply put, we work to redeem time.
Yes, there be pagans in the land… but do things ‘as unto the Lord’.
