If you coming yo Buenso Aires definetly check this out. Well done by including Caballito and Almagro... definetly residencial neighborhoods that have some value to them. Worth the visit if you want to see how middle class people really lives in Buenos Aires, its a good view on how "normal" people live.
@@annac.8502 Well Argentina, first of all, is divided in provinces, which would be basically states, and its a really big country. I didnt go to all of em honestly, but i dont know if theres a part where people is introverted. Theres definetly places where things are more quiet, i would say the north of the country or the south. The south of the country is really beautifull, check out Bariloche, San Martin de los Andes. But i dont know, you can go to Mendoza too. Definetly not Cordoba or Buenos Aires, people is really extroverted there.

We just came back from Buenos Aires spending 2 weeks there exploring neighborhoods to possibly live there later this year. We fell in love with colegiales most of all though, I can say that I would be a very happy man living in many neighborhoods that we saw. Thanks so much for the great work. This video was a real great primer for us and gave us a great jumping off point when we arrived. We stayed in airbnbs in several neighborhoods and a hotel in recoleta. Thank you again
As a flight attendant for a major US airline, I love these videos. I find they are full of practical information, and allow me to travel a little less like your typical "American Tourist" and blend in just a little more with the locals. We stayed in Recoleta during our two-week holiday in Argentina which is still in progress. We're almost finished with my two-week holiday in Argentina: BA, Ushuaia, El Calafate, and back to BA. We found lots of vegan restaurants and most other restaurants have at least a vegetarian option. We did not starve during our Argentine holiday!
I just moved to Charcas de Coria in Mendoza. I would say this is my favorite neighborhood so far in Argentina. It's incredible. So relaxed and upscale. By the way, I received my passport renewal for another 10 years even though I'm a couple months past my visa. I'm going to stay in this neighorhood for a few months at least.

As a porteño, I must say you managed to give tons of information of my city in just 15 minutes. I would add the Villa Devoto neighbourhood, It´s a very nice low density zone (no tall buildings, lots of nice houses), beautiful streets, very safe, with fancy cafes and restaurants near the train station and near the main plaza. It´s rare to meet a tourist there cause it´s out of the circuit and there is no subway connection but you can go with the "San Martin" train line from Retiro terminal station to Devoto station, or with the Urquiza train line from Federico Lacroze terminal station (this terminal station is in barrio Chacarita, just next to Villa Crespo) to A. Devoto station. Both Devoto stations are near, and the cafes zone is just a couple of blocks away. I love to go there cause it´s not central and not as hectic as Palermo, which it´s too gentrified and kinda overcrowded for me, but of course if you visit Palermo as a tourist you´ll love it
I lived in Buenos Aires for nearly 10 years. I just returned from a four month visit to Buenos Aires. I lived in the San Telmo neighborhood. It was safe,convenient, and very affordable, but like this video says there is something in Buenos Aires for every taste or budget.Buenos Aires is just awesome on every level.
Awesome! In Caballito, you can also find the Barrio Inglés (English neighborhood), which has some charming residential architecture. I would also add Balvanera to the list.
Very nice review of my city in over 15'. Buenos Aires is beautiful and huge, so to explore it may take long but it's worth. Having lived all my life here, I've been to all these places at least once but it makes me think I should move around more! I'm proud of my hometown but to have such appreciation coming from foreigners always has a distinctive flavour. Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm for BA. Hope your stay has been memorable. 💙🤍💙
Hi Nicki, This is a great video. I have been to Buenos Aires three times for work. The last visit was in August of 2008. We stayed in the City Center and had little time to be a tourist. I am now a retired senior citizen and my husband and I will visit next January for three days post-cruise. I am looking forward to reviewing all your videos. I stayed in Villa Crespo last year, and it was a good slightly cheaper alternative to Palermo. But I really fell in love with Belgrano. Núñez also looks great. So many areas I still need to explore.
I love Villa Crespo as an alternative to Palermo, definitely! Belgrano is great too, and Nuñez is sooo chill! There are SO many things to explore in BA. I feel like you could spend a lifetime there and still learn something new everyday!
For the one who doesn't know, Palermo, Recoleta, Nuñez and Belgrano are all "barrios chetos" that means that are neighborhoods of people with money, people of middle class, upper middle class or upper class

It's a great video. I lived in Buenos Aires Argentina for 10 years and Buenos Aires has something for everyone. I just returned from a four month tour of Argentina 🇦🇷 and Brazil 🇧🇷 and Uruguay 🇺🇾. I spent 4 months in the San Telmo neighborhood, and it was awesome. My plan is to purchase an apartment in San Telmo. Then open a small business that I can walk to every day. Again, this is a great video 📹.
I love that you included Belgrano, Nunez and other areas that are worthy of a visit. Belgrano R is gorgeous. I think when you say something is "overpriced", people should know that may be a $10 meal, the prices in BA are so much cheaper than anywhere else basically. I had a steak dinner for $5 in Belgrano recently.
That makes sense. But everything in the video is in context within Buenos Aires. I don't know where people are from who are watching the video so I don't know their personal context for overpriced or not. That's great that you found such an affordable steak in Belgrano.

I loved this video it is really on point how you describe the neighborhoods and it's suprising how you included barrios like Belgrano, Nuñez and Colegiales and I'm really glad haha cause I live around there, actually in Coghlan/Saavedra which are safe and quiet neighborhoods but maybe they're much more 'middle class' barrios than Belgrano or Núñez

As an Argentinian but living 40 years in the U.S you did a great job covering the neighborhoods. I grew up in Nunez and it was great which of course is next to Belgrano which was always a good neighborhood. The way things are going in the U.S who knows, maybe I'll spend 1 year in Argentina. I'm sure it'll be pretty cheap with the exchange...
Did you visit the Barrio Ingles in Caballito when you stayed here? And Pedro Goyena Avenue? Very upscale area in Caballito, very beautiful too. And the part of Almagro you showed is literally less than a block away from my flat haha. It’s a very residential area, but full of business and shops. And extremely well connected to the rest of the city
God, I miss my city! I lived in the neighborhood Villa Devoto, which is also another residential beautiful place, for 22 years. Now I live in Ituzaingo, outside of the city, and I'm sick of it. Can't wait to go back to the magic of Buenos Aires City.

Missed other zones of Palermo btw... Palermo is big and its not only Soho, Chico and Hollywood... Alto Palermo? Cañitas? Pacifico? Botanico? The zone close to Abasto and Pueyrredon (no sub name... ), etc etc Also missed Urquiza, Chacarita, Saavedra... Could also add Devoto, Abasto, Retiro, Parque Chacabuco, Flores, Floresta, Parque Patricios, Paternal, Villa del Parque. All really good neighborhoods too.

i have been living in buenos airies for 3 months now and i would say this is a very good guide however it could easily be misleading to outsiders, such as when i watched this video before I came. My advice is stick to the more outlying areas she mentions. No matter where you live in BA there will be PLENTY to do and see around you. It's a thick city. You won't be deprived of services or experiences anywhere you live so venture further out for a 'chiller' but also still intense thick experience. My 2 cents.

Depends on what you're looking for. If you want to go out, Palermo. Though San Telmo has great places to go out as well. The Sunday market is in San Telmo and it would be nice to be close by.
Can we say "colonial" though? I mean, all the territories Spain conquered were given same status as Europe's continental Spain, there were viceroyalties with a head of government representing the king of Spain which was a viceroy, all territories from Virreinato de la Nueva España till Capitania general de Chile and Virreinato del Rio de la Plata was part of Spain, not colonies.

Buenos Aires is a safe city. La Boca is also the poorest neighborhood in BA. The secret is not to walk around dressed as a tourist, so as not to feel uncomfortable, I think, and not be afraid and enjoy.
Most porteños would never live in San Telmo or MicroCentro in my opinion. It’s not that safe, and very very touristy (which is not bad, but that’s like the only thing going on in there, tourist traps haha) and if there’s a manifestation in MicroCentro, good luck doing anything. Sure, for a month or less if you are just visiting is great, not so for living
San Telmo is starting to become trendy so some people might be willing to live there now but you're right it's long been viewed as a poor area. La Boca is a LOT worse. Unsafe, often smells bad from river pollution and it's ugly. MicroCentro has deteriorated a lot, especially since the pandemic. Lots of empty buildings and trash everywhere, especially at night. Palermo is very trendy, lots of young people. Nightlife but not necessarily safe. Puerto Madero is probably the safest area. It has its own police force. Also very clean. Lots of great restaurants. I prefer Recoleta. Most traditional area, some streets are like Paris. Convenient for a lot of things.

I believe that's a subject category, catering to a significant element of our American citizens. And it has good viewership on Utube and you are well versed in the subject. Hi I want to visit maybe Sept or Oct 2024 I only have 8 days there is it safe to say 4 days in each place with Palermo being one and Buenos Aries being 2nd? I'm assuming I should stay in Palermo 4 day hotel there then take a Uber to BA or which is the fastest and or safest way to go to BA from there or visa versa depending on where I stay first Also, in your opinion. And I know this might sound dumb but if I go at the time where it's less crowds during the spring season, Sept-Nov will I be less of a target only due to less scammers on the streets or WORSE OF A TARGET since there is no one on the streets? I'm also assuming all other cities around Buenos Aries are much safer ? I mainly want to go to BA to see museums and take pics 🙄🙄While trying to be inconspicuous and or I don't mind taking a disposable camera, maybe that's best.? If the thieves DONT SEE MY PHONE, then u think I'll be less of. Target, but would I be safer taking pictures with my phone somewhere else other than Buenos Aries? Hi Kenn- sorry for any confusion. These amazing scones were from Andra Bakery. The empanadas at San Juanino are fantastic as well, but the scones specifically are from Andra. it's just a tiny little cafe with a bright blue door! :) The more famous restaurant in that area is called La Biela.

Hmmm I don't want to say impossible, but it is becoming less possible lately, especially in Palermo. You could probably find something closer to 600-700 in Palermo for what you're looking for. But I don't want to say impossible. You could ask around once you get there and see if someone you know knows someone renting an apt!
I'm sorry that guy dumped you, but visiting Argentina in a couple of months for the first time. What part of city do you recommend I stay? What is walking distance to the gyms, bars, restaurants, strip bars, etc? I am not a backpacker like you guys and I don't stay in hostels. I like upscale hotels and am fluent in Spanish so I don't care to see foreigners or tourists. When I visit Spanish speaking countries I don't want to hear English. Thanks in advance.

Hi Nicki, This is a great video. I have been to Buenos Aires three times for work. The last visit was in August of 2008. We stayed in the City Center and had little time to be a tourist. I am now a retired senior citizen and my husband and I will visit next January for three days post-cruise. I am looking forward to reviewing all your videos. I am most concerned about the money situation. Keep up the great work!!!!

I stayed in Villa Crespo last year, and it was a good slightly cheaper alternative to Palermo. But I really fell in love with Belgrano. Núñez also looks great. So many areas I still need to explore.
I love Villa Crespo as an alternative to Palermo, definitely! Belgrano is great too, and Nuñez is sooo chill! There are SO many things to explore in BA. I feel like you could spend a lifetime there and still learn something new everyday!
For the one who doesn't know, Palermo, Recoleta, Nuñez and Belgrano are all "barrios chetos" that means that are neighborhoods of people with money, people of middle class, upper middle class or upper class

It's a great video. I lived in Buenos Aires Argentina for 10 years and Buenos Aires has something for everyone. I just returned from a four month tour of Argentina 🇦🇷 and Brazil 🇧🇷 and Uruguay 🇺🇾. I spent 4 months in the San Telmo neighborhood, and it was awesome. My plan is to purchase an apartment in San Telmo. Then open a small business that I can walk to every day. Again, this is a great video 📹.

I love that you included Belgrano, Nunez and other areas that are worthy of a visit. Belgrano R is gorgeous. I think when you say something is "overpriced", people should know that may be a $10 meal, the prices in BA are so much cheaper than anywhere else basically. I had a steak dinner for $5 in Belgrano recently.
That makes sense. But everything in the video is in context within Buenos Aires. I don't know where people are from who are watching the video so I don't know their personal context for overpriced or not. That's great that you found such an affordable steak in Belgrano.

I loved this video it is really on point how you describe the neighborhoods and it's suprising how you included barrios like Belgrano, Nuñez and Colegiales and I'm really glad haha cause I live around there, actually in Coghlan/Saavedra which are safe and quiet neighborhoods but maybe they're much more 'middle class' barrios than Belgrano or Núñez

As an Argentinian but living 40 years in the U.S you did a great job covering the neighborhoods. I grew up in Nunez and it was great which of course is next to Belgrano which was always a good neighborhood. The way things are going in the U.S who knows, maybe I'll spend 1 year in Argentina. I'm sure it'll be pretty cheap with the exchange...

Did you visit the Barrio Ingles in Caballito when you stayed here? And Pedro Goyena Avenue? Very upscale area in Caballito, very beautiful too. And the part of Almagro you showed is literally less than a block away from my flat haha. It’s a very residential area, but full of business and shops. And extremely well connected to the rest of the city
You went to Nuñez and didn't show the River Plate Stadium, El Monumental.

God, I miss my city! I lived in the neighborhood Villa Devoto, which is also another residential beautiful place, for 22 years. Now I live in Ituzaingo, outside of the city, and I'm sick of it. Can't wait to go back to the magic of Buenos Aires City.

Palermo is big and its not only Soho, Chico and Hollywood...
Alto Palermo? Cañitas? Pacifico? Botanico? The zone close to Abasto and Pueyrredon (no sub name... ), etc etc
Also missed Urquiza, Chacarita, Saavedra... Could also add Devoto, Abasto, Retiro, Parque Chacabuco, Flores, Floresta, Parque Patricios, Paternal, Villa del Parque. All really good neighborhoods too.

i have been living in buenos airies for 3 months now and i would say this is a very good guide however it could easily be misleading to outsiders, such as when i watched this video before I came. My advice is stick to the more outlying areas she mentions. No matter where you live in BA there will be PLENTY to do and see around you. It's a thick city. You won't be deprived of services or experiences anywhere you live so venture further out for a 'chiller' but also still intense thick experience. My 2 cents.

Depends on what you're looking for. If you want to go out, Palermo. Though San Telmo has great places to go out as well. The Sunday market is in San Telmo and it would be nice to be close by.

I mean, all the territories Spain conquered were given same status as Europe's continental Spain, there were viceroyalties with a head of government representing the king of Spain which was a viceroy, all territories from Virreinato de la Nueva España till Capitania general de Chile and Virreinato del Rio de la Plata was part of Spain, not colonies.

Buenos Aires is a safe city. La Boca is also the poorest neighborhood in BA. The secret is not to walk around dressed as a tourist, so as not to feel uncomfortable, I think, and not be afraid and enjoy.
How does a tourist dress?

Most porteños would never live in San Telmo or MicroCentro in my opinion. It’s not that safe, and very very touristy (which is not bad, but that’s like the only thing going on in there, tourist traps haha) and if there’s a manifestation in MicroCentro, good luck doing anything. Sure, for a month or less if you are just visiting is great, not so for living
Oh and La Boca too, not a very nice neighborhood. There’s a lot of poor people there.

San Telmo is starting to become trendy so some people might be willing to live there now but you're right it's long been viewed as a poor area. La Boca is a LOT worse. Unsafe, often smells bad from river pollution and it's ugly. MicroCentro has deteriorated a lot, especially since the pandemic. Lots of empty buildings and trash everywhere, especially at night. Palermo is very trendy, lots of young people. Nightlife but not necessarily safe. Puerto Madero is probably the safest area. It has its own police force. Also very clean. Lots of great restaurants. I prefer Recoleta. Most traditional area, some streets are like Paris. Convenient for a lot of things.

Hi I want to visit maybe Sept or Oct 2024 I only have 8 days there is it safe to say 4 days in each place with Palermo being one and Buenos Aries being 2nd?
I'm assuming I should stay in Palermo 4 day hotel there then take a Uber to BA or which is the fastest and or safest way to go to BA from there or visa versa depending on where I stay first
Also, in your opinion. And I know this might sound dumb but if I go at the time where it's less crowds during the spring season, Sept-Nov will I be less of a target only due to less scammers on the streets or WORSE OF A TARGET since there is no one on the streets?

Hi Kenn- sorry for any confusion. These amazing scones were from Andra Bakery. The empanadas at San Juanino are fantastic as well, but the scones specifically are from Andra. it's just a tiny little cafe with a bright blue door! :) The more famous restaurant in that area is called La Biela.

Hmmm I don't want to say impossible, but it is becoming less possible lately, especially in Palermo. You could probably find something closer to 600-700 in Palermo for what you're looking for. But I don't want to say impossible. You could ask around once you get there and see if someone you know knows someone renting an apt!

I'm sorry that guy dumped you, but visiting Argentina in a couple of months for the first time. What part of city do you recommend I stay? What is walking distance to the gyms, bars, restaurants, strip bars, etc? I am not a backpacker like you guys and I don't stay in hostels. I like upscale hotels and am fluent in Spanish so I don't care to see foreigners or tourists. When I visit Spanish speaking countries I don't want to hear English. Thanks in advance.
