The GT3 RS MR has been in development for over a year and it has gone through evolution, after evolution, after evolution, but it's looking like Manthey Racing is finally ready to officially reveal it's latest and most insane creation to the world, as earlier this week 2 new prototypes were photographed with almost no camouflage, the logos and decals completely uncovered, and many of the new aerodynamic components appearing in production ready carbon fiber.
Manthey's development of this car has been nothing short of extensive, as we've seen no fewer than 6 different prototypes, which is pretty extreme when you consider that Porsche themselves typically do not use more than 2 or three prototypes when testing a new car. And when you consider how rare and valuable the GT3 RS is, that just makes it all the more insane. What will happen to all of the beautiful cars that Manthey drilled and cut into and then beat up on the track, is something I would really like to know.
The latest prototypes show even further development of the already over-the-top aerodynamic components, which tells us that Manthey is definitely out to break records with this car.
Upfront the new splitter has received additional tweaks from the last time we saw it, and when we compare it to the stock splitter on the GT3 RS, we can see just how much work Manthey has put into it.
The center has been lifted to allow air to pass underneath the car, and the sides are lower to generate downforce. The outer edges expand into complex ridges on the top and bottom to control airflow around the bottom of the car. And two support rods help to stop heavy amounts of air pressure from pushing the splitter downward.
The entire front fascia has been redesigned to accommodate the dive planes, the new splitter, and the deflector that takes the place of the front canard on the stock GT3 RS. This lower indentation is now gone and the car looks better without it.
On the eight fins mounted on the roof, the inner six appear to be relocated slightly farther back to provide more accurate airflow around the rear spoiler.
And at the back of the car, where most of the action is taking place, the new aero components look to be finalized. The huge vertical fin has been redesigned and now appears finished in carbon fibre, and as I predicted in previous videos, there is no longer a rear window. The removal of the rear window was most likely done for 2 reasons - to accommodate the horizontal fin, and make the vehicle lighter, as there is now a thin carbon fibre plate where the glass used to be.
The ginormous triplane wing looks to have been slightly updated once more, with a reshaped top wing, and now that the enormous endplates are fully exposed we can see several points where the 3 wings and the endplates themselves can be adjusted.
The area of the car that has seen the most ongoing development is the rear diffuser. The last time we saw it, it was looking like the diffuser from a 911 RSR but since then it looks to have been completely redeveloped. The six fins go much deeper, there's now vents at the top of the main tray, and there are new layers and components added to the sides. The hardware and braces on the rear diffuser suggest that the diffuser might be adjustable.
The rear wheel disc is looking a little drab, but the production version will most likely look like the carbon fiber example being made for the standard GT3.
I've been wondering if this car would remain street legal, and this photo showing the turn signal in use tells us that it will.
It's believed that the GT3 RS MR will not be receiving a power increase, but there should be plenty of other performance upgrades, including four-way coilover suspension, competition brake pads, stainless steel-braided brake lines, ultralight wheels, and some of the body panels were most likely produced using lightweight materials. And we can expect to hear about additional performance upgrades once Manthey officially reveals this car.
The stock GT3 RS has a nurbergring Nordschleife lap time of 6 minutes and 44.85 seconds. The current record holder is the Mercedes AMG one, at 6 minutes and 35.18 seconds So in order to reclaim the nurburgring crown, Manthey needs to cut almost 10 seconds off the time of the stock GT3 RS, which would be a pretty significant accomplishment - but not an accomplishment outside the reach of manthey racing.
Before the AMG One became the champion of nurburgring lap times, that crown belonged to the Porsche GT2 RS MR, which was nearly 20 seconds faster than the stock GT2 RS, and manthey achieved this huge gain with only minor modifications, as you can see when we compare the GT2 RS MR with the stock GT2.

AMG one makes twice the power as the 3RS.. so if they do make it happen it will just go to show you what the new GT2RS and/or MR will be capable on with twin turbos.
ye.. twice the power for 5x the price. There wasnt really any competition to begin with. If porsche didnt just stay with the gt3/gt2 and made a whole another car just to beat the AMG one(like merc did)... it wouldnt really have any chance. Porsche is on the pinacle of the automotive industry with technology.
They’re not in the same category, the gt3rs is a sports car and the amg one is a hyper car so you can’t really compare them you could compare it to the amg gt black series

Seriously, there is no chance the 3RS MR will be dangorous to the AMG One. It´s in the high speed section like Kesselchen, Mutkurve, Döttinger Höhe, etc. where it loses time and they won´t be any faster there with more downforce. Atleast not fast enough to gain so much time. And afterall, AMG is rumourd to be testing on the NOS again cuz their record was set under really unideal conditions, imo they could be 10s up just by having perfect conditions and no damp track, considering the track is like 21km long. The 2RS will do some damage tho with the added power...

Saw this in person last month testing at the Nurburgring. I can only give a personal opinion, but “oh my god” did it go round corners so fast. There was plenty of fast cars out that day, including that Yangwang EV and loads of GT3’s etc. The MR was next level, especially on the wiggly bits.

Fact is theirs no other more decorated, sport car icon in the world that is as accomplished on the track, and to be desired then the old vernarable Porsche 911. Not even mighty Ferrari has a car model that can dethrone the 911 as the world's #1 sports car. This is coming from a BMW (probably my favorite car brand) fan.
As for Mustangs their cool and are beloved in America, and Corvettes are an icon in the US but where talking the world, neither competes.
I'm not bias though, I grew up in Detroit 😄so I appreciate the home grow, I really like Ford (also with the gt 40), Corvette, and Dodge (along with the Viper series) has done and are doing (the Shelby gt350 is 🔥, and the new zr1), I just like to call them like I see'em...

With all due respect, I think there's a little mistake in what you said about comparing GT3 RS and AMG One times. 6:35's Amg were registered with the distance of 20.8 Km while 6:44's Gt3 rs were with 20.6 Km. So Manthey Racing has a much harder work to do. Anyway, it's a great video, very informative. Great job!!!
and if u look at the conditions of the amg one lap u can see wet spots all over the map, the amg one could have gone 5 to 10 seconds faster under better conditions for sure
@@flickjames420I am extremely curious about how the AMG ONE would perform with like 600-700 ish horsepower, less weight because of the lower horsepower, but way, WAYYYYY more aero. The current AMG ONE looks rather smooth compared to the 911s in terms of aero.
@@flickjames42010 seconds is a HUGE improvement. Conditions surely sergeant optimal, but camera often makes things look worse than they actually are. They surely can improve the time, but I doubt it will be ten seconds, if they’ll even release a new time.

991 GT2 RS MR did finally _(in 2021)_ a 6:38.835 on the 300m Auto Sport track version and 6:43.300 on the whole 20 832 m lap
AMG One did a 6:30.705 on the short lap (back in October 2022) and a 6:35.183 on the whole lap.
Only the new 992 GT2 RS _(maybe only with MR Kit)_ will take the crown of the AMG One, which had about at least 3-5 sec more in the pocket _(wet track parts, driving mistakes, same new track parts etc.)_
Absolutely no chance for the GT3 RS MR to beat it, because not enough horsepower.
drop a full akra evo system and tuned on this beast and you get yourself about 50-60 extra hp which should be enough to offset the extra downforce and you get yourself a decent amount weight reduction to boot.
Manthey Racing is just another way for Porsche to get more of our money.....

the amg one time was set in damp condition, i believe the mr kit can shave 3 maybe 4 seconds off the stock rs. the duty to beat the amg one time lies on the 992 gt2rs mr.

GT2RS is indeed more powerful, but GT3 has more racing heritage and success. Besides, I really don't see how the GT3 is for kids when it's widely considered to be one of the best track cars you can buy.

@@LWRC None of the GT cars are decent daily drivers, specially the GT3RS and GT2RS, but they are great track cars, which is their main focus. If you want a daily driveable 911, you can get either the Carrera or Turbo, or just straight up go to another Porsche lineup such as their SUVs or sedans.
But I agree, it is sad seeing these track weapons being treated as garage queens when they were made for ripping through corners in a track.
